My impression of the X model:

- FaceID looks very promising. The unlock issue seems to be because FaceID was disabled on the first test phone, so hardly a fail here. There is no doubt that face identification is superior in every way to fingerprint identification (which only works for me right now in 1/5 times at best). Any outstanding issues will be solved with software updates, the hardware seems solid enough
- Gestures are amazing and the way forward. Not much to add
- Don't see much problem with the notch, except that its distracting when using the phone in landscape mode (games?). Virtual view for apps should be cropt to exclude the notch though, otherwise awkward artefacts would happen
- People who taught about animated emojis seem to completely miss the fact that phones are still used fro communication most of the time. Animated avatars are what users want. And you scepticism and witticisms is not going to change that. There is a reason why the Unicode consortium is continuously adding new emojis to the international symbol standard.
- The engineering overall is absolutely impressive, Apple at its best.

Summary? The X looks amazing. Actually, this is the first iPhone that I find exiting. Is it way too expensive for a phone? Sure. But as I see it, its not just a phone, is a vision of a phone that I really like, even though that this vision might come a bit too early. Totally ordering one as soon as its available.

Doesn't make you a better person, does it?
Was that an attempt at an insult or not? Truly don't know. Just glad I'm not one of the whiners. This phone looks amazing to me, and after all, it's a phone, so it's not a huge deal. The butthurt is unreal.

It would be nice if you let me decide what to do or not to do as long as I respect others and their opinions. I personally find it very cheap to call someone an Apple troll if their opinion doesn't fit someone elses. If I'm disappointed in the direction Apple is going I want to be able to express this without someone with only a few messages posted telling me I'm an Apple troll. I think an excuse is justified for this. If you don't agree, ignore me or don't read my posts.
It was a suggestion, free to follow anything you don’t like for the rest of your life

Forget the notch, let's talk about how ugly and silly the edge to edge display looks when it still has that thick bezel.

From this keynote, I'm most happy to learn that Apple didn't release that hideous brown iPhone X that everyone thought was gonna happen...

I have made my decision.

I will keep my iPhone 6 till it dies. Hopefully until then, a redesigned iPhone SE will come out, or a small sized X for 799...

Wow Nilay Patel’s first look video at the Verge was quite positive. No mention of the camera bump. And little about the notch either. My guess is the notch is this years camera bump. Something people complain about but get used to and then don’t even think about it.

FaceID did not work on the first phone because it wasn't unlocked previously. After a hard reboot or restart, any phone now with TouchID required you input your Passcode before being able to unlock the phone with TouchID. Its the same here with FaceID. Whomever set up the phones for the keynote must have forgotten to do unlock it prior.

Wouldn't they need some kind of top bezel anyhow to house the hardware? I love that they actually ended up saving space by using the sides, but absolutely hate that they are not blacking out the ears.

a "night mode" or "dark mode" would by default have a black background. Just software

I am sticking with my s8 and my iphone 7. Nothing here interests me including the price. Being an ex apple employee I wouldn't have been able to afford it based on what I was paid there anyway.

And I will keep my launch day 6 plus with a broken screen yet another year lol.

Not really a fan of these phones and I must admit...I wanted to love them.

The only thing i don't like is the way video and photo's drapes around the notch so now a part of the image is not visible! Is it possible to change it so it don't drapes around the notch maybe crop it a little? Am i the only one who finds this irritating?
