I ain't buyin this shizzle until:

1) 64bit kernel is default
2) Hybrid SLI is supported

Comon apple stop slacking and I dont QQ much usualuy either but this is just wrong ;)

not going throgh all 21 pages, but I'd love to see those who threw a fit over the new box art saying "its fake"

now look...

You've been arguing against 10a432 being the GM on a raft of bogus arguments since it came out. There is no way they are shipping out different discs Wednesday for delivery on Friday for a build no one has seen.

A little while ago, you were telling everyone the reason was because it didn't boot every Intel mac into the 64-bit kernel.

Now you're making bogus arguments about the preview release. Just recently, the final build of iPhone OS 3.0 was released to developers days before it came up in iTunes, and afaik, there is no DVD burning of iPhone OS.

Apple released Leopard 10.5 whose last build was never made to the general developer community so there is nothing unusual if Apple did keep building and tidying things up - yet not issue builds outside a group of key partners.

That's what Im sayin' !!!
FU Apple

Aren't US prices plus taxes though, where they apply?

Granted it's just a bit, but it edges closer to the £29/$41 mark. Then you could in theory start arguing about the different cost of living etc, and different incomes, so things do quite simply cost different amounts.

Apple are one of the better companies for UK pricing I find. The worst is when you get games consoles that cost $299 and then £299 etc :p

I was suprised when I read alot of people are still using Tiger.

I can understand Tiger, if you have a much older machine. The bells and whistles vs. size and drag of Leo make it impractical for older machine.

The moment SL comes through the door, it's on my machine. Anything progressive to speed up the OS and programs on my computer are appreciated. People scared of early versions of OSX must be either paranoid, or doing advanced functions.

As for trolls--if the negativity comes without some qualifying description, it's just more spam to cruise by. I just found it funny that it was so broad and obvious so soon in the thread.

Agreed, but 29 dollars thats like 15 quid ...

Yeah, I'm with you. Also, I'm really upset that they are now using two words to name the OS (Snow Leopard) just like Microsoft (Windows Vista) instead of their elegant one word labels (Panther, Tiger, Leopard...)

[Shouldn't be necessary but just in case.... This post was done tongue-in-cheek]

I'm glad you added the disclaimer at the bottom, otherwise it would have been a petty & ridiculous post.

I was wondering the same thing, WIll iLife 2010 be announced in Jan like last year? And will it be 64bit? I guess if this is the case I will skip 2009.
No one outside of Apple knows anything about the next iLife version.

There will always be glitches.

I'm usually an early adopter, but have so much upcoming work that I cannot afford to be working through glitches. Any idea how long it normally takes before the major bugs are worked out?
That depends upon the glitches found. This is not a question that anybody can answer with certainy.
Also, is there a way to see if there will be any software compatibility problems?

thanks!

As the title states there will always be issues. Really there is no way around that, the unknown is whether or not the issues impact you and your software.

Generally you want to avoid updates when you are pressed for time. One alternative though is to install to a separate HD if your platform supports it. Of course on the iMac this would be a joke.

You also have to balance the distruptions this will cause you with any performance gains you might realize. This is hard to quantify when it is just an OS install but SL has been shown to significantly improve some features.

THE IMPORTANT THING PLAY IT SAFE! Have a fall back plan if nothing else.

Dave

Just canceled my Amazon order, and pre-ordered from Apple.
Says will be delivered by Aug 28.
Lets see if the shippers can deliver on time.

Why is everyone so excited?

Do you think Snow Leopard is going to make that much difference day to day?

Sweet. I'll likely pick it up mid-August just to make sure there aren't any installation issues.

I also need to find a guide on what's best, as i don't really have a big enough hard drive to do a complete backup, So I'm guessing just an "Upgrade" instead of a "Archive and Install" will be fine.

If I erase my HDD can I restore it from Time Machine within Snow Leopard and it'll suck all my apps, files, etc, back in?

What's the best way to handle this?

(To clear out the spiderwebs in the process)

$35 Cdn instead of $29 US implies a 1.20 exchange rate when actual exchange rate is 1.074, should have been $31.

You call this outrageous? Is dad late with your allowance or something? As others have posted, the simple exchange rate ain't all there is to importing and selling.;)

Yeah I want to know the same thing ...

They said that about a aug 28 release, plus, the I life '10 coming in 64bit native seems preety obvious :)
The difference being that there were many rumors about the 28th release. There are little to no rumors about the next iLife version.

I've always managed to buy a new Mac just before an OS release. Tiger, Leopard and now SL. I upgraded from Jaguar to Tiger on launch. NO PROBLEMS. From Tiger to Leopard on launch. NO PROBLEMS. If my iMac that arrives tomorrow doesn't have SL on it, I'll be upgrading from Leopard to SL at launch.

Why do you think you'll be among the minority that ever has an OS X installation prob?

I don't know if I'll have a problem or not. But there's no harm in waiting until others discover the bugs or problems and the first update for SL is released. I don't get any special prize or recognition for installing Snow Leopard on release day.
