can't find that anywhere. care to show the link, so we wont think you just took an image and added text to it.. wanting to be cool and show off

It's in the e-mail that was sent out if you are subscribed to apple news from Apple. It is genuine.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A400 Safari/528.16)

Bring it on. I think Friday in an interesting choice of days. It is a good day in my opinion though.

Um, they releases Leopard on a Friday, and I believe they released Tiger on Friday as well.

For those of you that purchased Leopard when it was released at the Apple store, were there a lot of copies available? Should I go and wait in line early?

just order it on line. Save gas, help with global warming. Plus there wont be 50 million people around walking getting in your way, little 14 year olds breaking the computers and ipods, and people looking over the apple rep's sholder while she enters your credit card infomation.

but if you must go to the store, I dobut there will be a huge line. Its not like the iPhone (even though the hype has been dead for a long time)

Why is everyone so excited?

Do you think Snow Leopard is going to make that much difference day to day?

Because people LOVE updates! Why do you think we got a 100 page thread when 10.5.7 was close to being finished? People are always hungry for the next update. We get bored, okay?

Could any reasonable human tell me what is so special of being the first or second who installed smth new or grab smth ?

Will your life be different if you get it say 2 weeks later or even a month later ?! I don't understand this ? Do these people have some kind of urinary incontinence ?

True? Is SL less feature rich? If so what features?

It's not less feature rich, there's just fewer new features in SL than in any other earlier release. That is, SL is mostly a under-the-hood upgrade to Leopard, and not a release to add new features.

Yes. It's right there in black and white in his signature.

Still, apple does not make iTouchs or touches.
keep your rolled eyes to yourself. His/her siggy said s/he owns a Touch.

And I can shorten it to whatever I like. Touch. MBP. SL. Why don't you correct the guy who called "Leopard" "Leo"?

snarky, much?

there is ZERO possibility that you must have leopard to install snow leopard. there is no "upgrade" version of SL (with the exception, possibly, of the UTD disc).

When I bought a MacBook it was right at the transition from Tiger to Leopard. Tiger was installed on the HDD and the Leopard disc was in the box. I installed Leopard immediately with no problems.

When I upgraded the HDD a year later I could NOT install Leopard to the blank HDD. I had a message saying that I needed to have Tiger on the HDD BEFORE I could install Leopard. So I installed Tiger and then was able to use the Leopard disc which allowed me to use Disk Utility to erase and install Leopard.

From my experience, if Apple says you must have Leopard on your HDD before you can install Snow Leopard then I would imagine this is accurate.

I don't want to be the first or second to install SL. I couldn't care less if I'm the millionth. I want it because it's available and it has features that interest me. My life will be different if I waited and had to install a new OS in the middle of the academic year.

And yes, I genuinely do have urinary incontinence.

Does this make you a better person? If so, hats off.

The $29 version IS an upgrade version, or at least so says Apple. I'm pretty certain the installer will check to see if 10.5 is on the drive before installing else nothing would stop Tiger users from buying the $29 version instead of the $160 box set.

"I've been playing with developer seeds and I can tell you from experience that Snow Leopard is faster," said the source. "The OS is more responsive, from a performance standpoint, and feels like a different OS. But the bells and whistles between OS 10.4 and 10.5 to OS 10.6 are not the same; the quantity has been reduced. That's why Apple lowered the price."

"Even though there will be fewer features in Snow Leopard than in previous iterations, the OS will still provide a good experience for users," said the source.

Quicktime X so far is missing the feature of having a preference panel, as well as less supported formats for export capabilities. (albeit an optional install of older Quicktime 7 Pro)

Anyone else care to comment on what features are NOT available in a standard snow leopard install over what the current version of leopard 10.5 offers.

You mean like this ? Please notice there was a "pre-release" version up there 2 weeks before the GM.

Ok, fair enough...

How about Panther. I received it on my Premier account on Oct. 14th, but it didn't actually ship until October 24th. I cannot recall if it was listed as "pre-release", but I do remember the debate over it being the final build or not.

Was the boot time sped up even more in Snow Leopard? One thing, if anything that blew me away from using Mac for the first time (10.5 and I think 10.4.11 which was the first version I used on a personal Mac computer) was that it started really quickly.

If there is anything that would make me recommend a Mac to anyone, that would be it. I haven't noticed tons of stability that everyone boasts, all I do is browse the web with Safari and use XCode 3.1 for coding iPhone apps. I use my Mac almost every day for those things, so it's not that I'm just not using it enough.

So yeah, my Mac crashes a lot more than my Windows computer, but the speed of the boot time is really good. I'm not sure if Safari 4 is what's causing the crashes, but it's possible... it's just like on Windows. The third party software decreases peoples perception of an OS because it's usually third party people that cause the crashing and not the OS developer themselves.

I think you're the one that needs to take the non-existent Apple Tablet.

Please re-read my post before making unnecessary snarky replies. I called it a Touch (not an iTouch), and whatever I call it it's my prerogative. I can even call it the iPee Tee (or Tea) if that tickled me.

Funnily enough, :apple: doesn't makes "Touches" but you immediately knew which product I was referring to. Guess I succeeding in communicating. :)

I don't understand how is the VPN in Snow Leopard outdated? I would have thought it would be more advanced than Leopard's. Or are you saying that the university has outdated VPN?

Well the version of Cisco VPN supported by the college is still v 4.9.01 (0080), which doesn't work in Snow Leopard. I contacted the school and they said that they won't start testing for network issues with Snow Leopard until it's released.

<sigh/> can't it just ask me for the leopard disk ?
If it checks for a previous version I hope they wrote it something like this:

1) Check for Leopard install
2) If Leopard already installed goto step 5, else goto step 3
3) Ask for Leopard Disk
4) If Leopard disk inserted goto step 5 else goto step 3
5) Begin Snow Leopard installation Process.

If your Mac is crashing, something's wrong with the hardware. Take it to an Apple store.
