So do we know if Apple has a nation wide time they plan to open the doors for Snow Leopard? (I remember last time Apple stores closed, then opened later that day for a launch party). From what I can tell its normal hours...so I'm looking into go to 24/7 Apple Store in NYC

We haven't seen any word re: launch time so at the moment it's just business as usual.

I got Amazon.com Order Update on Snow Leopard! :D

prime or not prime?

Hey, I asked if it was a joke. I joked back. Someone else trotted out all the versions...

it WAS a joke... i was poking fun at all the posts on here asking "well what date will i be able to get it?"... multiple requests for "are they going to have free t-shirts?" and endless speculation about the different ways SL will be able to be installed based on the multitude's of previous install configurations that people currently have!

I was planning on just picking this up from the store whenever I was close to it, but seeing as how it's now oh-so-close to release I'm caving and putting in a preorder. Hopefully me being in the middle of nowhere doesn't mean I have to wait, Apple's generally been pretty good at shipping stuff to me - 300km from civilisation :p

This is what we get for posting after midnight.. or at least, it's what I get for posting after midnight.

And you are right -- people need to remember that this stuff (usually) just works. I suspect this upgrade will be fine. Slap in the disc and go, boom done.

Miss the t-shirt, though... sad.

So why did they hype the address space in 10.5 and now again in 10.6?

Because they made the larger address space available to User apps then, now they open the larger address space for Kernel process.

And how many apps could use the extra ram in 10.4?

Probably not that many, but it was important for all scientific/tech apps that are run on Terminal (text-only, no GUI).

Snow Leopard Airport Fix???

Hey, sorry I didn't get a chance to read all of the posts & I know this doesn't really belong here, but does anybody know if SL will fix Airport issues in 10.5.8 for those of us that the Airport Client Update didn't cover? I've got the original Intel Macbook 1,1 Core Duo. I recently upgraded to Leopard & internet/Airport was screaming fast(using Airport Extreme - dome). Then updated to 10.5.8 & things came to a screeching halt(connection problems, password timeouts, very low signal, limited range, constant dropouts, etc...). I been on tons of forums/sites and tried everything and can't find a fix(for older MacBooks). Just REALLY frustrated. Thanks!
:confused::confused::confused:

If all this is correct, I don't see why so many people are excited about Snow Leopard coming out this Friday. Most of them won't be able to take advantage of 64 bit until all their favorite applications are written for it. They are all excited to get it because it's something new. When they get home and install it, they will find a bit of a let down from the excitement because they really won't notice anything different. If anything, it might cause more problems than it's worth. It seems that most of the cool stuff is deep under the hood and not very accessible until the applications catchup to the os. I suppose mid next year is when we will see the power of 64 bit and Snow Leopard. Until then, it's a bit of overhype for the casual user.

Exactly, this is the most rational post of the tread, should be essential reading to all early adopters. Come Monday I can see this thread and a heap of new ones full of whingers...

ya i tried putting it in the cart. http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/uptodate/
i clicked on "follow this link" on the page as i ordered my MBP from the online store, but the cart comes empty. am i doing it wrong ?

I found that if you go to the develop menu in the safari menu bar and change your user agent to be Safari iPhone 3.0 it works for some reason. Do this before you add the item to the cart. If you can't see the develop menu go to safari prefs advanced, check box to display develop menu.

hope this helps

UTD discs WILL ship Aug. 28th

I know this has been confirmed earlier in the thread, but just wanted to confirm that my up-to-date order status has changed to ships by: August 28th so hopefully this is the same as delivered by. Before it said September so I am pretty sure that means it will be here by Friday, Just my thought.

So..............

After the 28th of August 2009....

What's the next big thing we're waiting to get from Apple?

;)

MacBook Touch or iTablet, 64GB 4G iPhone on Verizon Wireless, MacBook Pro Nahalem Quad Processor, Aperture 3, and AppleTV: Take 3. Anymore questions?

Well, this will be my last post because the last 5 pages or so have been people who refuse to read back a few pages before they post the same questions over and over.

"Hey, did you know they are shipping on Aug 28th? Just found out that my UTD order will ship on Aug 28th, thought I would let everyone know so they can check their order".

"Will I be able to install the $29 upgrade disc on an empty drive?

"Is it shipping on Friday or delivered on Friday?"

"Does Leopard have to be installed before I install SL?".

Well, I have seen these same questions over and over so to the rest of you enjoy these repetitive questions since people refuse to read back a few pages and see these questions have been asked and answered. :p

All of this has happened before and it will happen again.

I made a thread about the redundancy of many posts around here. My suggestion is to make a guide on it and just link it.
