Honestly, I don't really care. I prefer lightning because all I ever do with my phone is charge it and occasionally sync to the computer. between the two physical connectors, lightning is just better still. So USB C doesn't give me anything other than the frustration of having to replace cables again. I recognize I don't have the only use case, but for me I am happy it still has lightning.
Until recently lightning was just fine if you used all Apple iOS and laptop products. USB C, being an industry standard, allows easier connectivity between Apple and non-Apple devices. This year Apple replaced lightning with USB C for its MBP and iPad lines, so the trend seems to be to discontinue lightning in favor of USB C. My own experience is that USB C seems to be a bit more fragile as a connector / socket combo than lightning, but I don't have hard data to back that up.

Price has not changed.

It could microwave popcorn you'd still regurgitate the same tired old comment.

It is obviously not old and tired of it's a feeling that a lot of people share and actively want to express.

It is also something that is worth paying attention to because the opinion is going to be reflected in the sales data. I for one will not be upgrading my iPhone X because this new generation phone does not give me anything additional that I value. I'm not going to be the only one making that decision.

With that said, I might change my tune of Apple comes out with a Tile competitor.

Actually you didn't state your opinion. You asked a question to which I responded.

"Who pays 1099 USD for a camera these days?"

The question mark makes it a question, correct?
I asked and you answered. Never said it was wrong. That was all you.

This thread reminds me why I barely ever read the forums on this site anymore.

Complain, complain, complain.

Every. Single. Year.

Why are you even here?

Just move on if you’re that upset.
It's a discussion forum, not a cheerleading forum. That's reserved for the first 5 lines of the Steve Jobs auditorium in case you didn't notice. Loudest cheers for the 100% recyclable aluminum!

I like the green. Still hate the camera bump always have so color really don’t matter as it needs a case due to the dumb camera bump. My iPhone X battery is no longer getting me through the day so sadly need to upgrade. But very underwhelmed with the so called upgrade.

Ummm...why don't you just replace the battery instead of acting like you're being forced to upgrade? Either that or just admit that you want one.

This design also helps understanding Jony Ive's departure from Apple!

Despite technical requirements I believe he wouldn't like to be associated with the ugly design of that bulky camera set!

this is great, thanks to this, now I can upgrade to iPhone 8 for less money!
Hard Pass on the 11 "pro" (I'm not a pro  I'm a just a regular person), ridiculous name.

This will be next big disappointment because Apple will use Intel Comet Lake CPUs with so many cores that TDP limit of cooling system does not have a chance to dissipate power efficiently (forget about large copper heatpipe like in Xiaomi Mi Pro or Razer ultrabooks). Much slower rate DDR4 interface than in Ice Lake and twice slower internal GPU (so AMD GPU required). 4 cores 28W Ice Lake is more than enough for Apple cooling system where enclosure is part of radiator.

I am using mini mid11. I believe it is time to change it, i really don’t want to buy something disappointing; I deeply believe las year’s mini was disappointing.

So last year Apple Upgrade allowed you to prepare in advance, get your order ready, get all needed credit checks out of the way, etc. This year I don't see that as an option - anyone know if that will be possible before the new ordering timeline?
This pre-order pre-auth tool has launched in the Apple Store App.

Never said I was being forced or acted like it. I get free annual upgrades with my carrier. So it’s cheaper for me to upgrade than it is to replace the battery which would actually cost me out of pocket. That still doesn’t mean I can’t be disappointed with what was released. Guess what I’ll upgrade next year as well because it doesn’t cost me anything extra and I may or may not be disappointed in that upgrade as well.

Agreed and the camera has become the center of all innovation. They should call it the iCamera instead.
I totally get your take on this and I do kind of agree, although I don't necessarily see the focus on cameras as a problem. The way I see it is the camera is really the only thing they can innovate in the iPhone these days. I probably lack vision, but until someone invents a much better battery the phones are capped out.

Exact same for me. I have an iPhone X with a bad battery and was really hoping to upgrade this cycle. I think I’ll just have my battery replaced. “Better camera and a little faster” is NOT innovation. It’s just keeping up with current standard. I remember when Apple used to SET the standards.
If your upgrade costs you to not be able to update to the rumored 2020 phone, then yeah I’d just replace the battery and hold out. The plan I have with my carrier I can upgrade every year for free. Still feels like this is a lack luster release much like the Xs did.

As far as innovation is concerned, smartphones have reached their technological limits. The excitement of the days when you upgraded your phone to larger screens, faster processors and higher quality cameras are long gone. Incremental changes are not enough to convince consumers to upgrade their phones, especially when the premium price hat Apple and others are demanding is ridiculous.

This is going to be a disaster in sales! General people think their cameras are fine. There’s about 0.000005% of people who are going to upgrade for the cameras. Yikes! Huge iPhone sales decline expected. Sell now!
I actually think there are a reasonable number of people whose primary camera is now their phone and would like the latest and greatest camera system. How many of them will pay the upgrade cost remains to be seen, more than 0.000005% but it doesn't feel like this is going to be a line-around-the-block year. I have my X, that's still absolutely fine, my wife is now on a hand-me-down iPhone 6 which doesn't even get iOS 13.
This year seems to be pitched at everyone who held out during the X and then the Xs/Xr years and whose phone is now 3+ years old to upgrade. Let's see how well they do with that .. definite pass here unless I break the old one.

They can be innovate by ditching the awful camera bump so we can carry our phones naked again and lay them flat on the desk face up. Heck I’d be happy with them just ditching the camera on the back of the iPad altogether.
Good question
No that was all false rumor. All it got was a speed bump and a larger camera bump, nothing else is new except color options.

Without clarifying that you were getting free upgrades, complaining about having to upgrade to an underwhelming offering because of a battery definitely comes across as if you were being forced to upgrade for what is essentially a non-reason.

That’s exactly what I mean. They’ve been banking on that argument forever, that people are just holding onto their phones longer.

So when their biggest selling series the 6 is officially discontinued on iOS let’s see how their theory holds up. I don’t think they are going to like the news...

Wiithout clarifying that you were getting free upgrades, complaining about having to upgrade to an underwhelming offering when all you had to do is change the battery comes off as whiney.
Why would it matter what I pay or don’t pay. That has nothing to do with the new iPhone being underwhelming. Heck Apple can’t even get iPad OS out on time. It’s pretty disappointing all around as far as Apple announcements go.

1429 euros or the 256GB 11 pro... hughhhhhhh! I'm changing my mind, I won't buy this year. Hope a lot of people do the same because it's time for a change. that's 200 or 400 euros more than what it should be. way too expensive.
not sold on that shiny marketing wow camera thing and those stupid video commercials. apple now wants you to be so passive with what they announce and their dumb gaming plateform and their tv service. sorry, but i'll stay creative just as they once used to be. this year i'm spending my money on something else. The keynotes are just out of date now. no passion and no dream at all. i'll pass.

$1249 + tax brings it to $1359 that without a case add in another $80
I have the X 256GB but I'd sure like that extra 5 hrs of battery they mentioned and that 6.5 screen
I'll go to the apple store and check it out before doing anything
apple says I got $400 in trade in value but I think ebay will bring a little more
