Don't know why but this came to my mind...

Is that 12MP?

OK - I guess that is a bit different than the $65.00 minimum usable cell plan with data.

The guys with the $20 per month are the one's that can't receive pictures in text messages maybe.
Like I said, it's location-dependent, but this isn't true where I am at all. Not receiving picture messages hasn't been a thing since the early 2000s. Having to pay to receive anything has never been a thing here; that's an American thing.

At the time of writing, you can get a plan here in Australia on the best 4G (4.5G?) network (Telstra via ALDImobile) with 18GB data, unlimited calls, unlimited messages, unlimited international calls to certain countries for $25AU ($18US). Extra data can be added for peanuts.

Think of the time we all spend on these iPhones - it's like we are all "pro" haha.
We spend hours on the iPhone - therefore it merits having a more recent model - that's my argument.
Oh - and life is too short to save $300 on something you spend so much time handling.
That's true for certain things – obviously it makes more sense to spend more on something you use all the time if you get something for that extra cost. I would have agreed 3 years ago for biyearly upgrading, but certainly not now.

Incremental camera upgrade for a disposable phone vs. say, a nice new dSLR lens.

Did I convince you?
No.

How can people still have an iPhone 7 when the cell service providers are giving higher models away.

Sorry, but I'm missing where iPhone X or XS's are being "given away".

My 256GB iPhone 7 Plus cost me $600 around 3 years ago when I got a $700 trade in of my old iPhone 6 Plus.

So far, there has never been such a sweet trade in.

If I can get a XS or 11 256GB model for the same $20/mo...maybe.

Life is too long to spend $300 on a difference that makes no difference.

Well, I get a new one every year - and I suppose it has allowed me to catch the best photo's

Resale value curve is another factor maybe.

You probably have to sign for a 3 year contract, but yeah they do it all the time - last years model for nearly free or completely free. New one at a subsidized discount. It's all a bunch of crap anyways - nothing is free. Locking in on a new iPhone for 3 years is just as bad as the guys holding onto the iPhone 7 today.

I always buy my phones first day, and sell my old one ASAP - minimizing the depreciation sometimes. Or I give my old one to someone.

Each to his own I guess.

I LOVE the Midnight Green color. Like really really love it. Nice to see them get into the green spectrum on products again. Been too long. For far too many years they only offered gold, gray and white colors mostly. So I really appreciate what they have been doing with thr line the last few years. Although I would really like to see a vivid cobalt blue of

in3PCvqAUgbzBGge7

After shaving, face looks like midnight green

Incredible how cheap iphones have become .. I used to change phone every year, then two years and now my iphone will go on 4 years.
The lack of innovation and higher phone prices actually makes my phone budget look good.
The promised innovation did not happen.

Lets say i buy a 700$ phone every second year that is 1400$ in 4 years.. now i buy a 1000$ phone every 4 years.. hokus pokus apple just lost 400$

Where do you live? None of the carriers have 3 year contracts anymore. They have 3 year payment plans, but contracts are long gone.

Awesome, I love the green. I'll be going with the Pro this year instead of the Max. The cameras look great to me, never understood all of the complaints.
You going to go with the Midnight Green? Love that color. Would look awesome with the Nomad brown leather case. And the more I’ve looked at the pictures of the Pro models, the more I like the looks especially the Midnight Green and Space Grey.

The promised innovation? What are you talking about? What nonsense is this?

You and the rest of the Boomers whining across the web currently need to decide between "FORCED OBSOLESCENCE!!!!!111" and "wow just wow no innovation Apple is dead" - gets quite tiring every single year for about 12 years now.

No one promised you a single thing. Apple does not speak about future products, ever, at all, period. Any imaginary fairytales you and all the other whiners told yourselves leading up to the event today are just that - trying to hold Apple to your ridiculous standards of reinventing the wheel every 12 months is so laughable it's barely worth addressing...apart from the fact that you people essentially destroy the internet and all discourse for about 2-3 weeks every single year following the iPhone launch. Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop. And cease to comment on things you have net negative knowledge of.

LOL. Relax. To be fair to him, apple did announce the event by giving it the tag line “by innovation only.” Sounds like a promise to me.

Yea I think I will. I always go with a case anyway so it doesn’t make a huge difference, but I love that color.

Who asked for 3 sensors and lenses?! How about using that budget for 1 good sensor and lens?
who wants 3 suzuki swift in their driveway when they can have 1 mercedes?!

In my case apple loose money with expensive phones. Instead of spending 700$ on a flagship phone every 2 years I now spend 1000 every 4 years.

Hey man... did you read their invite... by “innovation” only... did you see anything innovating?
My wallet is a very good indicator of innovation... and my wallet stays closed for yet another year.

I shaved my balls for this! happy i fell asleep before the show... I would have been so disappointed.

Sorry to say this, but the “presenters” of each product besides Phil, are kind of dull and drab. They don’t really create the excitement around the products/features they are introducing. Painful to watch most of this.

Agreed. They’ve been so painful for so long people are used to it. I’d be ok if they did away with keynotes altogether.

Same here. I saw enough to bite on. But never use a case. The gold seems lighter. Maybe it’s the pics or that’s it’s matte. Leaning toward green.

Chip. 20% faster.

Screen. Contrast is doubled along with increased brightness. Big difference.

Cameras.

Speaker has different branding for wide stereo called spatial audio. Supports Dolby atmos

WiFi 6.

Longer battery.

Are the bezels smaller looks it in the photos but they didn’t mention it

The event was Garbage!!

The first team apple has on stage to show us Apple Arcade is a remake of Froger!? Seriously?! I was a kid when Froger came out and beyond 15mins the very first time it was boring in 84 too!

The company presenters also seemed none too excited! It’s as if they know iPhone is a dead platform for the next 12mths!

Apple Watch 5 beyond getting your preferred band before purchase, titanium case what was the point?!?

Their still positioning the Xr as the phone to have great sales and in 3yrs the performance will be junk and spotty.

6GB RAM on the Pro models very nice finally we here!

I’m starting to see what Jony was getting bored of .... bureaucrats running Apple at every turn.

Is Apple trying hard to fail at overhaul hardware division JUST to bump Other/Accessories and services sales?!?

All Apple executives should be ashamed for this lack lustre presentation.

There would have been some innovation in benefiting the consumers instead of the shareholders for once.
We all know apple makes more than 100% profit on their topmodels.
A camera module for the iphone pro cost little more than 50$
Take some of that 500$ profit and make a phone at same price with nothing to be desired.
Other phone manufactures make as little as 5% profit.
Imagine if a company like xiaomi made a phone at same 1300$ price with their only 5% profit.. you would have everything in that phone.

The modular build phone would benefit consumers and enviroment....a phone manifacturer owned by the people who buy the phone.

Give up the keynote? As a shareholder they had better not! They put up pretty pictures and every news outlet shows them for free. Columnists write about them and friends talk about them. They are not for people who know what CPU stands for or what the notch is.
