Didn't know Apple was giving new products to celebrities that early.

I’m actually willing to wait for the mid-cycle mark to see if Apple releases an additional color. I dislike the new color options that much. And to those saying “just use a case”:

We have a whole camera PLATEAU that is going to be visible regardless and which I would like to spark joy considering how much these cost.

Puh-leez...you can have whatever flamboyant colors you want, but at the same time, wouldn't you say black is the most common color people order? To take it away is will just keep people from buying it. Not a smart move from Apple.

And, I'm happy you painted your fireplace pink if it makes you happy. Personally, I'd set my house on fire, on purpose, if I had to look at a pink fireplace.
Puh-leez. A burnt pink fireplace would look rubbish.

The silver is growing on me. My other devices are silver and I love the classic look.

Orange is too "look at me" and blue is too similar to the 15 Pro. I wish they'd offer more colors, specifically a dark green or teal.

Impressed with the camera specs compared to the Air. Love the 2TB option.

The design is jarring. Even with a case, the color now matters.

I want to see this and the Air in person, but have a feeling I'll stick with my 15PM.

So, during the event Apple said, "last year iPhone users took over 5 billion selfies"...If apple doesn't use our personal data, how did they know this? Hmmmmm
I don’t know? A setting called “iPhone analytics”? Maybe?

I'm "old school" I guess, I personally would love the Sim tray. Still on 13 Pro Max with it and honestly would hate to give that up
I've been eSim only since my XS Max so for me I'd take the extra battery life over the space the sim slot takes up, never once have I missed having a physical sim slot even traveling internationally is easy as I could just purchase service through an app and install wherever (before I had inclusive roaming).

That’s one of the fugliest phones I’ve ever seen, easily the fugliest iPhone. Also, we went down from ss & titanium to aluminum? No thanks.

Yeah, for me the ugliest iPhone I've ever seen. Never have I ever considered an iPhone to be ugly, until today. I know innovation is not among the priorities at Apple, but this is a new low. Hard to belive how ugly this is. I like the orange and blue colors, but the design of the phone is abysmal.

And they went to aluminum to save money, or to change something just to change it... or both. It's insane to go to a "less premium" material, which aluminum has always been in the iPhone since the X.

Did you see how fast they skipped past this part of the cases?

Ouch. And they boasted color-matching everything else.

This was by far the worst Apple event I've ever watched. Unreal from start to finish. They had the audacity to call the Ultra 3 a major upgrade.

They didn’t make this e-sim only worldwide? And the rest of the world lost 2 hours battery life, for an empty hole?
I am so tired of travelling and getting to 4 pm and needing a power pack I need help to import 2 with eSIM only to Australia

I never buy black iPhones these days but absolutely shocked they dropped the colour.
aluminium is more scratchable material, thats reason why black will always have more visible scratches,

Apple today introduced the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Both devices feature a new aluminum unibody design, with the Ceramic Shield now protecting both the front and back sides. Apple says the front side is now Ceramic Shield 2, which offers 3x better scratch resistance, while the rear Ceramic Shield is advertised as 4x more resistant to cracks compared to the back glass on previous iPhone models.

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, respectively, with a higher 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness and 2x better outdoor contrast.

A larger rear camera plateau houses three 48-megapixel Fusion cameras, and the antenna system now wraps around it. The upgraded Telephoto camera offers up to 8x optical zoom, which is up from the 5x limit on the iPhone 16 Pro models. Plus, there is now an 18-megapixel front camera with Center Stage support.

The optical zoom options available include 4x at 100mm, and 8x at 200mm. The camera system supports ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock for multi-camera video syncing.

Other key features for these devices include an A19 Pro chip with a 6-core CPU and 6-core GPU for up to 40% faster sustained performance compared to iPhone 16 Pro models, a larger battery, a vapor chamber cooling system for improved thermal management, and an Apple-designed N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.

New color options include Silver, Deep Blue, and Cosmic Orange.

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are eSIM-only in Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to Apple. These models are equipped with an even larger battery that fills the space formerly occupied by the physical SIM card tray.

Apple says the iPhone 17 Pro Max offers the longest battery life of any iPhone model ever, with up to 39 hours of video playback per full charge.

In the U.S., the iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099 with 256GB of storage, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199 with 256GB of storage. Pre-orders start Friday, September 12, ahead of deliveries to customers and in-store availability beginning Friday, September 19.

Both devices can be configured with an all-new 2TB storage capacity, which is an increase over the previous 1TB maximum.

There are new accessories, including a Crossbody Strap and TechWoven cases that are the spiritual successor to Apple's ill-received, discontinued FineWoven cases.

Apple also announced that iOS 26 will be released on Monday, September 15.

Nope, 2TB is limited to the 17 Pro Max. Normal Pro is still only up to 1TB.

Which is the same as my 14 Pro. Three years later no improvement there. I think I’ll stick to my 14.

Underwhelmed. I was looking forward to replacing my iPhone 12 Pro this year, but I think I'll just have the battery replaced and use it for one more year. Maybe next year they'll do better.

These look fantastic. Cameras are great too. Knocked it put of the park. An unpopular opinion on this thread I know.

iPhone 16 pro users may be a little huffy about this.

But on the ‘previous models comparison’ widget on the marketing page, it starts with the iPhone 13 Pro.

There’s the hint.

now that it's official, I can finally officially express my opinion about this ugly new iPhone. This is the first time I have ever said anything unflattering about any new iPhone. There, I said it. It's not un-ugly.

well... I guess a good-looking case will cover up this new ugly iPhone. <sad>
Interesting. I do not consider it ugly and I would never put a tough modern iPhone in a case.
