Part of me thinks Apple is intentionally making the iPhone uglier just to see how far they can push iJustine.

Video usage is just a metric. Expect the Pros to have about 10% better battery life. But IMO it is just 10% more excellent than excellent. ;~)

10 percent is good..will wait and see what those who get one early have to say about it. Im on my brother in laws family plan so will trade my old iphone in, I think I get 125 bucks for it for trade in so it will help with the final cost

I have a friend whose favorite color is orange, he’s going to go gaga over this new iPhone & the matching iMac. 😉

I realize there are many who will love the color options on the Pro. For me, this is the first year when - if I were to pick a phone- I would only have one option- the silver. I usually waver between space gray, gold and silver and I liked them all in previous iterations. This year’s orange and blue are simply unattractive to me. Thank goodness I’m not in the market for a new phone right now. I don’t like the design either, though that’s less bothersome than the color choices. Curious for the first reports of picture quality comparisons with the 16 pro.

I usually upgrade for the camera improvements alone but the poor selection of colors and the 2TB option being restricted to the Pro Max has me second guessing whether to upgrade this time. I'll wait a couple months and see if I change my mind or if they later offer more colors. The design itself is ugly for an iPhone and the colors don't help.

I was going to buy the iPhone 17 Pro, until I saw there is no black nor space grey option. WTF? So I’d have to buy a regular iPhone 17 with an inferior processor or an overpriced, underpowered iPhone 17 Air to get a color that’s been around since the OG iPhone? I don’t think so. I’m out.

I will not buy an iPhone that’s lighter with worse battery life, a worse camera, etc. that’s generation 1 hardware just for something with bad tradeoffs I don’t want, just to get an acceptable color.

This a a joke. I bet they’ll introduce black in the spring right before the iPhone 18 to nab some suckers.

What a complete and total disappointment. Orange and Deep Blue are straight up fugly. The 1970’s called. They’d like their fugly colors back.
I actually like the blue and orange Colorways but am totally with you on the black. They need to have a Black option and have never NOT had one. Something tells me this is a weird executive decision. Guarantee that next year they will introduce a new black iPhone 18 Pro like it’s the best thing ever.

I’m in the same boat. I have the 16 Pro Max but never print my iPhone shots. I find myself reaching for my Leica Q3, R5, or GFX100R far more often than the iPhone. It’s fine for a selfie or a quick snapshot, but it’s never going to replace my dedicated gear.

For those of you wondering about the Pro colors: now that the Air has joined the lineup, Apple seems to be positioning it as the so-called premium design model. The Pro, on the other hand, looks like it’s becoming more of a tool-type iPhone. Think Apple Watch (premium, design) vs. Apple Watch Ultra (utility).

I’ve always thought the Watch Ultra was premium. I guess prices and features don’t reflect “premium” to all. 🤷‍♂️

For me, it’s more about the design than the features or the price. But of course, it’s different for everyone. :)

Maybe that’s exactly why Apple released the Air. It’s for those who see “premium” the way I do. And the Pro is for those who see it more the way you do.

I think this is exactly right. The design of the 17 Pro seems to be similar to that of the Watch Ultra. It's a more rugged, utilitarian design. It's the "Panasonic Toughbook" of iPhones.

Just not what I happen to want.

Almost glad there’s no black so there’s no temptation to upgrade.

Yea the full width camera bulge is fugly but otherwise it’ll be a fantastic workhorse. As a small business owner who relies on my phone, there is no way in hell I’m going back to a hobbled device like the 17 Air. I realised this after owning a 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max - both of which are brilliant devices and still going strong after 3 years. Will wait for the dust to settle then probably upgrade to a 17 PM so long as they don’t turn out to have any annoying issues or recalls. Not happy about the pricing … but it’s in line with other premium phones and they seem to last for years.
