That's good stuff. Mine will be here today. I played with my girls yesterday befre I put her invisible shield on. It's nice, worth the wait. It's not that Apple "Does No Wrong" but even with some flaws it's still a better device than most overall and continues to lead the pack. Still room for improvement but still ahead of competition

I don't think that is the reality. Adjusting your hold is not a huge deal until we get more info or a fix. I have this issue, I have 2 bars here at work and it goes to no service if I cup the phone. I adjusted how I hold it (back to normal/not cupping it) and I have no issue now. I can surely make all the calls I need.

If someone is having it way worse than I am the solution is pretty simple, go return it. No reason to feel so "truly sorry" for someone. It's not like some big tragedy in their lives its a phone.

I love when people claim there is a "normal" way to hold a cellphone. And you don't need to cup the iphone to get it to drop calls. Just a finger grazing the seam does it.

Here's a question. I just ran a speed test using the speedtest app. It's saying the upoad speed is faster than the download speed!!
Is that possible??

Are you downloading something else at the same time that you're running the speed test?

Yep! More ppl are downloading then they are uploading. That and the 3G chip in the iPhone 4 has better upload speeds than the previous one.

Ok thanks. It was on 3G. On wifi the upload speed is much slower.

No nothing else. Just the test.

1.7 million units sold, but unfortunately no one gets a signal because they don't know how to hold a phone.

Is this the BIG announcement concerning the iPhone 4 we that was rumored for today... NOT an announcement/update about recpetion issues, but an ego boost that completely overlooks the launch problems....

Not bad for 3G

I went on Sunday to reserve my iPhone. The complaints about how to hold the phone don't apply to me. Hopefully sometime this month they will be available for purchase.

This is what I was wondering too.. The headline should read "Apple Announces iPod sales of 1.7 Million".

Don't make fun of Android just because there are 58 million phones out there that are inferior to the iPhone. iPhone OS is found on 1 phone. Andriod is found on 1, then add a couple zeros after that.

That's like saying the Android App Store is better than Apple's because more people (potentially, not in current practice) can use it.

Dude you are on crack! I was WWDC, Apple has over 100 million iPhones out there Worldwide! Don't hate!

You're joking, right? You don't think a phone that drops calls when you touch it in the wrong spot is defective?

If it was the Droid with this problem you would be having a field day with it.

While I absolutely love my new iPhone, the man's got a point here. If this was the launch of a much hyped Android phone and it was revealed to be having issues with the screen or dropped calls, the people on this board would be laughing until they wet themselves.

Jesus people, we already have 10 zillion topics about the reception issue! You're still well within your return window, take the thing back and go get an Android OS phone. I'm sure you'll be so much happier with that choice. ;)

Congrats to Apple on its most successful product launch ever!! It's stories like that make me remember Steve "Monkey Boy" Ballmer's comment in 2007... "The iPhone will never gain significant market share."

I couldn't agree any more! And that said, my iphone4 is all good. No problems.

I wonder how many would have been sold if there would have been an ample supply of handsets. I ordered through Apple and got mine a day early. There are 5 other members of my extended family that did pre-orders through Best Buy after they couldn't order online, and they are still waiting for enough supply to arrive to get their iPhone4's.

I have talked to a number of people who really want the new phone but are waiting till they can just walk in and get one. I predict large sales number to continue for quite a while. I love my new iP4. The only problems I have had are with Apps that haven't updated for iOS4.

WOW! They will be at 2 million or more in ONE week after the AT&T's walk-in on Tuesday!!!

Wasn't there a droid with a screen issue? If you are not grounded the screen doesn't work? And if its a software issue and the fixed it who really cares. I made several calls on mine and have yet to drop a call and I can make my signal go down by holding it.

Get what? That releasing a defective product is OK

Do you expect everything to be perfect? Things have bugs. What if VW recalled your car because of a defective part? Are you going to give VW the same level of criticism and say your car was not a success because VW released a defective product?

No company is perfect. This issue is only a high profile one because of the non-issue Jobs email. But, every company releases a product that has early bugs. VW, Apple, Toyota, etc all have bugs upon release of that model.

You can bet I was mad when Jobs said it was a non-issue. Because it is one thing to release a product with bugs and make it right with the customer. It is another to say it is our fault for holding it that way and is a non-issue. But, as of now I am going to wait and see what happens now with Jobs changing his tone and reports of a software fix coming this week if not today.
