Nice to see! The display is the main deciding factor for me! :)

While the new display is great, the main deciding factor for me is the design. This new phone wins the "Bathing Suit" portion of the smartphone contest hands down. It is a stunner.

Sorry but we knew EVERYTHING already!

NO big surprise! What a letdown!

You've been a member of a site that deals with Mac rumours since 2002 and you're disappointed that you knew everything about the new iPhone?

can't wait to preorder mines. i been patient since nov. my upgrade expired since then. This iphone 4 is a no brainer... lol.. the live updates were great too.. I felt like i was there...

We own an iPad, iPod touch, 3 apple laptops and a desktop. We're buying our first Android phone because we hate AT&T so much.

Can anyone help/suggest? Ive looked at the Keynote .. but he said 88 countries will be iPhone4 'quipped... yeah. Nice.. then it showed a few countries that are getting it ..July 2010 ... but .. no United Kingdom!!

I know we're not the most enterprising of countries and miss out on what the public wants ... but in this case I cant believe Apple wont sell us some when the others get theirs too ... so .. my question to the assembled panel here is ...

WHEN WILL BRITAIN GET THE iPHONE 4 PLEASE?

I currently have a 3GS and its on eBay ending tomorrow ... if we are going to be lumped along with Kuala Lumpur or Timbuctoo .. then I will end the auction and keep mine til the less civilised countries such as ours is dated for despatch ... BUT if we are getting it along with all the OTHER Europeans ... then ... I'll sell it and wait in frustration without me 'phone til it does ...

Help!!!!!

maybe waiting the 17 days will bring on the wow factor because right now I just didn't feel it.

So...I'm trying to figure out where I fit in as far as pricing goes. I'm sure there are others like me.

I bought all 3 phones on launch day and paid a premium to do so. I think they gave us a slight break last year, but it wasnt great (like 200 dollars more than NEW customers instead of 400 dollars more or something like that). According to my AT&T online upgrade eligibility, my upgrade date is Feb of 2011. Now, mind you, i've been a customer since the day the first iPhone came out and have had to re-sign a 2 year agreement every time a new phone hits.

So - seeing as I bought the 3G and then the 3GS...I've "upgraded" every year and obviously I want to again....I'm sure many of you have done the same thing.

What's our price point? Will we fall into the upgrade category? Or will we be paying 500-600 dollars for a phone?

way to be nice about it. but I'm asking because my birthday is this week, and I get to get a present, but i can't get an iphone and the operating system too. so i need to know if i should just get the 8gb 3gs(if it doesn't need higher than 10.4), not get a new phone at all, or get the iPhone 4 and use my PC instead of my mac.

It's not a limitation of the iPhone hardware, it's a requirement for the latest versions of iTunes. Once you switch to iOS 4 on any hardware, you'll need the latest iTunes, which will require Leopard at least.

If you're running an Intel Mac, the Snow Leopard upgrade is just $30. If you're still running PPC, you need to hunt down a Leopard update, and that may be difficult.

Can someone please explain how preorders work? I have never done one before, and want to get this phone day 1.

Temptation

I like the phone, but the monthly bill with ATT would go up at least $40. Not sure if I want to do this, even so I'm not really happy with my Nexus One.

"And, because it's so mobile as your phone, you'll be able to chat... anywhere there's WiFi."

It's so mobile that you will be able to use it anywhere that you can use a non-mobile technology! Uh-maz-ing!

Jailbreak should sort that out pretty quickly

"apple will never release a product with those seams.. " blah blah blah

"no way that's the final design." "i'll never buy a phone that ugly"

"that looks nothing like an apple product. i say fake."

what do you say now? thx, steve.

Haha! You beat me to it. It even has screws! I'd love to sift through the posts and root out those design geeks who said Apple would never release this

I'm trying to see your point.

The hardware is new. The software is new. The aesthetics are new. The performance has been significantly upgraded and features have been added.

But I've seen a picture of it before. "Letdown!"

Question: Does your age end in "teen"?

well final nail in coffin, going to get my evo in half an hour:D, no cdma phone, no sale, att blows in the midwest

While some of the things were known, we definitely did not know everything. Unless you have a crystal ball that said iMovie was now included.

So what would they have had to announce that would have made it not a letdown for you? I ask this with all sincerity as I thought this was a pretty significant upgrade. Especially in such a small package.

I think this update is great, just a shame it takes so long to get the product to the shops.

Duck.

Funny to see so many people saying "what a let down". True and constant reminder that you will never please everyone...and that's ok by me.
I'm really impressed with it overall, seems to be very innovative...especially the camera functionality. I really liked how Steve mentioned "it's not all about megapixels"...very true. I also like the iMovie and Netflix apps...

Either way, I'll be in line at the Apple store or have it preordered before June 24th. I wouldn't completely count out the possibility of a VZW iPhone...they could announce such a thing closer to a launch later in the year.

It's on the charger.

:D

I'm off to get my Droid.

Uh huh.

EVERY OTHER FEATURE is what every other high end phone already has and most have had for awhile.

Every other high end phone has a 960x640 display? Every other high end phone has this type of battery life? Hmmm...

While there is nothing surprising here (thank you Brian Hogan and Jason Chen), this is a fantastic upgrade. A day-one purchase for sure.

But I hope that new glass is shatterproof now that it's laminated to the display. :(
