I have a power-bank to my mini, it works fine to have that in a pocket or the backpack to charge it if I need it. I’m good with my mini til something small comes.
No flip/folds from Apple yet...

Ah man I wish they’d make one without a camera (don’t need it), imagine the air without such a hump! (I know a little hump for the other parts but should be a bit thinner still)
Or just with a flush camera like the SE1.

Have to say I am disappointed. The GPU could have been Pro level (no details on GPU yet) and single camera could have been double. Then Apple drops in the MagSafe Battery just for the Air - Looks like they are concerned on battery life. Hmmm…. Wonder what “all day” is really defined as.

Was hoping for more but …

I currently have an SE 2. Unless they bring back the Mini line, I'll probably replace this with *anything* I can find in that size category.
I replaced an SE3 with a 16e. My main complaint with the SE3 is the size of its display. The 16e display is a big improvement & the refresh rate is fine since I don't play games on it. The overall size increase is basically unnoticeable to me.

I've used Otterbox Defender cases since my first iPhone (a 3S). But since their quality has gone downhill I opted for a Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro case. It is more compact, offers more protection and costs 50% less than the Otterbox.

My SE3 Bluetooth module died after a little over 2 years. Since it couldn't be repaired, I waited for the then-rumored replacement model. Amazingly, Apple paid me $100 for trading-in the SE3, the same amount they paid my wife for a fully functional SE3. No Way am I paying $800+ for a smartphone that is basically disposable & that has an arbitrarily limited useful life due to Apple's support policies. . .

Well they have the video playback numbers as a reference point. Air (27hr) 17 (30hr) Pro (33hr). 27hr is also what the 16plus and 16pro get. Mixed usage will obvious vary so we'll see once people test it. Definitely won't be some kind of battery monster. This will obvious be for people that aren't concerned with battery life in their daily life. MagSafe battery is for extended periods.

Defined as 27 hours video playback according to the spec sheet on apple.com

Yeah, I'm not interested after all.
  1. only 1% lighter than the 16e (165 vs. 167 grams)
  2. very pronounced camera wart
  3. camera bar isn't unibody
  4. glossy edge which I don't like
  5. eSIM-only in Europe as well
I'll stick with the 13 mini for a while longer. We'll see what the 17e will bring.
I agree with all of this 100%. I am so disappointed in the weight. I was really hoping it would be closer to 135 grams. I will be sticking with my 12 Mini.

So it was correct to assume that the efficiency gains made since the iPhone 13/14 Pro would give at least the same battery life even with a larger display (with around the same battery capacity). According to Apples claims it outperforms those significantly in video playback and streaming.

Overall I think the Air was better than I expected so it will be an instant buy, the only thing it underperformed expectations in was that there was the rumour about the weight being 146 grams.

Per GSMArena

Battery sizes:

iPhone Air: 3149 mAh
iPhone 16e: 4005 mAh

Yikes

16 and 16 pro is around ~3500 so the difference is less jarring. Never paid attention to the 16e, but do you know how it did in battery tests compared to the 16pro? I noticed apple rates the video playback on the 16e lower than the 16pro and Air.

We'll have to find out if the 3,146 mAh battery pack is confirmed. If so, the iPhone Air could have surprisingly good battery life per charge, possibly equality the iPhone 17 itself.

It's for my wife for sure. She has a 14PM and definitely doesn't use it to its full capabilities. She likes the bigger screen but finds it a bit heavy and bulky. Has trouble fitting it in dressier small purses and clutches....Barely takes pictures (always leaves the picture taking to me)
Its perfect for her and I'm sure millions others in a similar situation.... this might be their best seller this cycle... and not just because it's the new shiny toy.
Curious why choose the air over the 17 non-pro? It’s only marginally thicker, but actually significantly smaller in height and width, so it would be better for fitting in purses. Now that they have added promotion to the non-pro iPhone it seems like a no brainer.

According to the product page it gets 27 hours of video playback vs 30 for the 17. So call it even. I’m pretty surprised by that, I was expecting worse battery life. I guess at $1399 for the top model it had better be good.

Apple says 22 hours of video streaming for the 17 Air and 27 hours for the 17, the 16 Pro is claimed to have 22 hours as well. I am more than happy if it lasts as long as the 16 Pro does.
