I'm hoping there are some deals from retailers on the outgoing X whilst they flush out stock.

Is it just me or was the wait for the introduction of the new iPhones more exciting than the introduction itself? Not sure if the new phones arent that exciting or all the leaks ruined it for me. So basically, the biggest update is the new screen size (6.5) and perhaps the camera, but we’ll have to wait for camera comparison first. I honestly expected more :S And what happened to those rumored 699/899/999 prices? Oh well

Seems that all the rumors were correct, except for the price.

Still the same fugly distracting notch. If they must notch why can't they do a nicer v-neck notch like this.

Either there are less sensors or there's a huge ugly bar on the bottom there where all the sensors are instead of in the top. The V-neck looks dumb.

The A12 is barely faster than an A11 and will be indistinguishable to the user.

The A12 is a whole system on a chip, so it’s more than just the CPU - it is also the GPU and the neural processor. While the CPU is only about 20% faster than then A11, the GPU and neural processor are significantly better. It is also more power efficient, which is great for battery life. The A12 also powers the enhanced camera features.s

With that being said, for everyday general usage, you probably won’t see a huge difference (such as web browsing), but the chip will allow better and more realistic AR features as well as a better Siri experience, as more and faster machine learning can occur directly on the iPhone. In addition, as developers update their apps or create new apps, the benefits of the A12 will be felt more.

I can’t wait until they can make these bad boys thinner and lighter. 208 grams for a phone is pretty hefty, but with a screen like that it may be worth it for the Max.

That camera tech. Wow. Changing depth is literally amazing.

You can actually do this right now using apps like Focos on any iPhone with a dual camera. You can even change the focal point and change the bokeh. So this is definitely not something Apple invented, as they implied. The Lytro field camera was released in 2012. Steve Jobs supposedly met with the founder of Lytro back then to discuss how the technology might be used to improve the iPhone camera system. Lytro went under earlier this year, but of course the technology they pioneered is becoming more popular.

An extra 30 minutes isn’t anything to write home about, though. I was expecting more from a 7nm chip.
