I bet we will see reduced prices on the Shuffle soon. Maybe something like $70(512MB) and $120(1GB).

Maybe you should *pay attention* while you're driving, instead of talk on your cell phone, eat your bigmac, etc., and all those crazy motorcyclists won't be such an enormous hazard! Keep in mind that two cars take up four to six motorcycle lanes, depending on the car. There are seven motorcycle lanes (including center stripe) in two car lanes.mrgreen4242 said:How is it possible to safely and prudently ride in the space between two vehicles in adjacent lanes?
Much of what you see is based on perspective.mrgreen4242 said:, you just happen to see a lot of motorcycles doing a lot of unsafe things.
Going under the pretense that they would skip a level, they would skip pico and go to femto.i-clipper said:Huh, why did they skip he "micro" and go straight from "mini" to "nano"? So what's the next smaller one going to be called, the "pico"?

12 grams, according to my postal scale. That puts the Nano Plus at 34 grams with battery.Hattig said:]
iPod Nano:
Weight: 42g
Battery Life: 14 hours with 128kbps AAC
Creative Nano Plus:
Volume: 28.5cm^3
Weight: 22g + AAA battery (how much does an AAA battery weigh?)
Agreed - but the 1 GB Nano Plus is really somewhere between shuffle and the Ipod Nano in features. And who really believes the "%d songs" anyway, don't you look at the GB?Hattig said:]The use of 64kbps WMA files is rather disingenous of Creative in my opinion. Most people have 128kbps files, and they probably rip MP3s at even more.
Note that the battery life of the Nano Plus is effectively infinite - keep a few spare AAA NiMH batteries charged and in your briefcase, and you can play for days and days....Hattig said:]Also higher bitrate files tend to use more battery up, so the 18 hour battery life is rather cheeky. I might rip 20 hours of music at 64kbps VBR AAC and see how long my nano lasts, and how many songs I can get on it.
Hattig said:I've got my confirmation of shipping now. 4GB Black Nano. 1 - 2 days apparently, so because of the weekend I'll probably get it on Monday.
Anyway, in comparison to the Creative Zen Nano Plus:

dontmatter said:So, I saw the nano, and my jaw dropped, and I knew it would sell faster than fast.
But the more I look... I don't know, say someone's deciding between the nano and a zen micro or other ipod mini knockoff. You're looking at paying 70 bucks more, not getting as much storage, no extras. I know it's an emotional decision, but often with these, it's the emotion of the teen, the wallet of the parents. And how do you justify buying one when HD offers such clearly better value? Sure flash prices will drop, but then so will hard drive prices, too.
I don't know. Plus, it's really disturbing to look at amazon's most sold list, the nano is not that popular at all. Is everybody buying from apple, has it not gathered steam, or... is this not a hit? such a gamble for apple, to drop the mini, and really not offer anything else that competes too directly with it.

It's elongated, so why did they not make the screen longer so it would be easier to scroll? Instead, it looks pretty awkwardly shaped. Same old scroll wheel, whoopty doo. What if someone does not want to wear it as a lanyard? You have to keep it in your pocket upside down.
The best selling minis are gone. Mass audiences loved the mini. Teenagers, college kids, mothers, whoever. The colors appealed to many, and the silver and golds appealed to the rest! I've got a silver.
I'm in part bitter too because now the resale value of my mini is gone. Whatever, it's only 8 months old and has ALREADY stopped working correctly so I hardly expected to get much from it anyway.
Unfortunatly, it looks like apple is really succeeding well in the industry... great for them but not for us mac users. I feel a bit like less of an individual with their products. I also fear that within the next few years we will some how... some way... be dealing with the same spyware and viruses that PCs are plagued with.

BRLawyer said:Calm down, please...Apple takes gambles all the time, and usually they are right because nobody foresaw them...there is NO reason for Minis sandwiched between the Shuffles, the Nanos and the normal iPods...it would be a stupid stretch of industrial production, am I the only one seeing that? What would a Mini with color screen be?? Just another iPod Photo with less capacity! Get a grip, people! If you care about storage, buy the 20Gb one! If you want anything else, go for the Nano! Simple as that.
And it's less than 24 hours after the Nano launch...surely it will take a while for them to climb up to the top spots...give it just a few days and you'll see.
p.s.: correction: the Nano is ALREADY the 4th MOST SOLD electronics device at Amazon...check it out at
