Yes i am a m1 user and you right, I will definitely upgrade this year but not to m3! I finally can move on to windows after so many years.Seems like people with m1 and lower should be upgrading

Lol right? Why would it be odd to put a product out before the holiday season? It would be odd not to, if they're ready.
I thought we at least had AV1 hardware decoding. Apple is really, really late to this.AV1 decoding was just in software before. It is now on-die in hardware.
I hope not. Just curious if that's going to be their new strategy. So it only got an M* Pro SoC for one generation?
Does the mouse still have the charging port on the bottom?
it wasn’t a huge issue - av1 doesn’t require a lot of power. I’ve been watch av1 on the ATV4K just fine.I thought we at least had AV1 hardware decoding. Apple is really, really late to this.
At 2000 euro I think it's super fair to expect both 120 Hz and at least a measly 12GB of RAM. 8GB of RAM is about enough to watch a YouTube video on Safari. And definitely not enough to do that on Chrome. Great that they upped the base storage from 256 to 512, but I think RAM is more important.I'll take a MBP with 14" 120Hz screen for $500 less. I know that 8GB RAM is a crime in almost 2024 but at least it's not a 60Hz screen.
The 15” MBA was just announced almost 5 months ago. That’s a little too soon. Plus they probably want to synchronize the 13” and 15” MBA release times, so it may be a while before we see the MBA’s refreshed, possibly until WWDC next year. At earliest, they’ll refresh it in March/April time frame, which would put the MBA 15” at 9-10 months old. They just did that with the MBP’s at 9 months, so it’s possible that’s the same time frame. No MBA announcement makes me think their strategy is what they do with iPhones... the non-Pro model gets the older processor. If you want the new processor, then you have to spend more to get the Pro model. The MBA is a phenomenal computer and should be given the M3.
Look at the 3D performance....it's WAY more than 10-15% more powerful than the M2. More like 2x. Big leap for 3D. This will make Macs a decent 3D option. Not the fastest option but a good solution if you also care about other things, like having the Mac OS, high battery life, low weight, etc. etc.No Face ID, No Multi Monitor Support, and only 10-15% more powerful than M2. Who's this for? lol
I guess they're damned if they do, damned if they don't – people complain either way. In this case, it seems like a solid spec bump, but you seem to feel they should have waited longer for a more substantial update. Meanwhile, if they actually did that, people complain that they don't update the chips more often. *shrug*What I find odd is "just" these updates on their own.
Holiday impulse buys of accessories and updated iPads would have been welcome and good!
I don't know -- just feels off.
Apple doesn't do tiny little 30 min solo line updates (especially at night) like this.
One has to admit, this was pretty different.
Nah, I’m good with my M1. I feel no compulsion to join the rat race if my computer does precisely what I need it to.Seems like people with m1 and lower should be upgrading
Agreed. I knew price would determine whether or not I missed the boat on the surprise M3 reveal. The M3 specs are truly impressive but a 14" base M3 Pro chip with 36GB/1TB still costs more than what I paid for a 16" M1 Max 64GB/4TB over the Summer. The new space black looks great but absolutely no buyer's remorse here. Congrats on anyone picking up a new M3 machine. Enjoy!Even with the comparisons to M1 they did, I’m still not convinced it’s a worthwhile upgrade to us M1 owners. My M1 Pro is still stupid fast with great battery life, the improvements seems to be in very specific workloads and not overall general speed.
The GPU upgrades are intriguing but that’s about it
No big difference. One key thing which hasn't changed at all is that all these M3 machines are running Thunderbolt 4. So the mythical 5K, 120Hz Promotion screen is still some way off. Hopefully M4 and above will have the newly announced Thunderbolt 5, which will be a game changer for peripherals.Great upgrades for sure. But will most people who already own the M1 Pro even see much of a difference? I can't imagine it being much faster than what I already have for a lighter user such as myself.
Need <> want, though.M1 came out barely three years ago. I highly doubt many people will need to upgrade.

That makes sense. I hope they will release them sooner than WWDC, but who knows? The 15” MBA was just announced almost 5 months ago. That’s a little too soon. The M3 Max like 50-100% faster or more in various scenarios. See the performance comparisons on their website.Absolutely nothing special, 20% boost.
The touch bar was still keeping me with macs, but now that is discontinued i can finally move on to a gaming Asus laptop. Lol I already have asus zephyrus duo in shopping basket for 3 days now😂
nah, I don‘t think so. They pretty much anticipated that already. Was this M3 push to answer back to Qualcomm ARM new release?
Look at 3D performance. Much more than 20% boost...Absolutely nothing special, 20% boost.
