Did they say or show if the new 4K TV still has an internal fan like the current model? (I missed most of the event, only caught a few parts while at work)

I'll buy to see if it solves the temp drop-outs (picture and sound go blank for a couple of seconds a few times an hour) that I get with my current 4K Apple Tv. Wishful thinking?
Either your cable is defective, your ATV has a HW issue or it’s a TV issue altogether. A drop-out is certainly not normal behaviour.

pleasantly surprised by the remote, clean aesthetic looks classy and can finally feel up from down..

not sure how useful the FaceID sensors scanning your tv will result in better calibration vs. just being placebo ware

A10x to A12 feels sorta... like a meh aspect. Though not sure how much it needs A13/14

never bought an atv4k, been using atv4 1080 since 2015 or whatever and smartTV apps
There used to be an app by THX called TuneUp that used the back camera on iPhone to calibrate your equipment. It even supported AirPlay and worked quite well. It hasn’t been updated in years though. I think Apple’s native solution will work quite well given the advances over the years in their cameras.

Was hoping they would add spacial audio. That alone would have gotten me to update, but no reason to upgrade. I'm glad they made the remote backwards compatible, will be buying one. They should really have a remote trade in program to make up for how awful a job they did designing the original one. Overall really disappointed with everything announced today. Does Apple even listen to their customers anymore?!

the question is, can I buy the remote and not upgrade?
I would upgrade if apple tv has USBC for "future upgrade" = Facetime

I was sold before they even mentioned the remote. This is exactly what we all have been waiting for. I have a Vizio 75” that I overpaid for, well the SmartCast is absolutely horrible and the apps crash continuously. So we switched to an Apple TV HD. It’s been nothing but a flawless experience and I’m perfectly okay with giving Apple $200.

I like the remote. Shows what happens when Ive isn’t in total control. Otherwise it would probably be a remote that’s all touch surface...

New remote will be bought for my current 4K unit and will also be buying a new 4K model and migrating the old one to a different TV. Glad I waited because I almost bought another this past weekend.
I bought one last weekend lol....lets hope the old model prices drop so i can get some money back....fingers crossed.

I just want the new remote.

I’m floored it doesn’t add spatial audio. A killer feature to pimp the Airpods Max.

If i can buy that remote and use it with my existing 4k ATV, I'm in. Have doubts though...
I feel like Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker all over again... Fanboys claimed desperately for change after TLJ and we got... that... I truly hope we can use the old remote with the new Apple TV! A remote that removes touch in favor of a “click wheel” is like going from the iPhone to the original iPod...

Seems like the spec bump that should’ve happened 1-2 years ago. The remote is the real story here though. Does the remote have a U1 chip so you can find it when you lose it everyday? If not, that’s a dealbreaker for me. I would hope that since the lead up to showing AirTags was a guy literally diving into his couch for his keys they would recognize the Apple TV remote is FAR more likely to actually end up in the couch. Especially for that price, yikes! Even with the spec bump, I don’t see many people buying this at that price with how ubiquitous the AppleTV+ app is. If anything, they’ll make a bunch of money on selling the new remotes separately.

The software on my Apple TV 4K has been so buggy (particularly with HomePod 'Home Theater' setup), that I don't see how I could justify this. :(

e.g. Maybe before they introduce color-calibration-via-iPhone they could at least make the audio-calibration-via-iPhone work.

The new 4k is great and pricing is fair considering

That they are selling a 'revised' 1080p model with an A8 for $149? Idiotic in a world full of $50 fire sticks

It’s HDMI 2.1, but looks like Apple capped video output at 4K 60fps, which seems a bit odd. For movies sure, because there’s hardly any 120fps content, but for gaming, I’d assume Arcade games would want to take advantage of that. Hmm. So sounds like a future tvOS update could theoretically ‘unlock’ 4K 120fps when the time arrives, since it is in fact HDMI 2.1.

Nice remote! May go out and buy just that. Love that it has a mute button.
