Wait wait wait, I get get teh following refurbished model for $1,400:
iMac 24-inch 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

24-inch glossy widescreen display
2GB memory
320GB hard drive
8x Superdrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memoryy
Built-in iSight camera

Or I can buy the "upgraded" model for $1,500:

24-inch : 2.66GHz
2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB memory
640GB hard drive1
8x double-layer SuperDrive
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
Built-in iSight camera

Correct me if I'm wrong but aside from the ram and HDD upgrade isn't that pretty mucha downgrade in graphics card and processor and graphics card?

Actually that one you're looking at is new it's just in the refurb section, you can get the same one refurbished for even less

and to all the "loyal" Mac people....loyal would have been to buy before and not wait.

loyal customers have purchased theirs already and are happy.

for someone like me who has been waiting over a year for a new Mac Mini - well it pretty crummy IMO

same case, same ish speeds, more money

yeah bargain , i'll take 2 lol

i for one am not drinking the Cupertino Kool Aid this time.

Anyone happen to have the old iMac standard specs handy? I'd like to see a quick comparison of the 4 models side by side.

here is one for the uk store

Really a non-issue since it has Firewire 800. Unless you consider double the speed for Firewire a bad thing. You can pick up a FW800 to FW400 cable really cheap.

It is an issue because there was previously both. (i.e. net loss of one Firewire port)

Well, that Mac mini was real.

It looked fake but it wasn't.

Big leak on Apple's part there. It's been a couple of weeks at least...

Hold on a minute - can the US guys confirm this:

The price in on the online Apple Store doesn't include tax but if it ships out of state e.g. CA to NY then there is no tax added?

But if you buy at Apple Retail Store then tax is added.

Is this correct?

You get charged state tax if there is an Apple Store in the state it is being shipped to.

The store has an error:

If you look at the Mac Mini site it clearly states that it comes in a 2.0 Ghz and a 2,26Ghz model.

Processor and memory

2.0GHz or 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
3MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed
1066MHz frontside bus
1GB (one 1GB SO-DIMM) or 2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB

the iMac no longer comes with a remote?
i know it's only $20..but..?

hmm.

1,199.00 USD = 1,861.55 AUD

Add in export costs (and does Australia have taxes added in like Europe?), and you're pretty close. It may be a bit of extra markup, but it's not that horribly absurd.

LOL most of the parts(ie bits and pieces) are made and assembled in Asia

Will the new Mac Mini be compatible with the new 24" Cinema Display?

Would I need any adaptors or will it work out of the box?

Nvidia graphics cards, rebranding of products:

GTX will mean that you get a high-end/performance card,

GT is reserved for mainstream while

G means you have an entry-level card.

AGAIN I ASK, does anyone know whats faster, the GTI 120 or the 9600m GT?

Rebranding:
G100 = 9400 GT
GT120 = 9500 GT
GT130 = 9600 GSO = 8800 GS
I am guessing the 9600m might be similar to 9500

Hi,

With these prices the PowerMac and the iBook are just going to continue to chug along for a while longer. I was hoping for a better priced mini.

Currencies differences

I don't get you UK people. You're complaining about high prices, but you seem to completely forget how weak £ is for now. Nobody from euro countries complained before when Apple UK prices were THE LOWEST because of weak £. Now Apple made price correction, that's it. Stop complaining, take €.
