It starts at 479 Euro. What the actual F.

you might as well fly to the US (when we can) and buy it there lol

Yeah right. Have fun in Alaska. LOL! Almost all other states have extra tax on top of the price you see on the website. In Europe the price is including all taxes.

No headphone jack 🙄

Not one person (or analyst for that matter) was expecting it to include a 3.5 mm Jack. I think Apple made that clear when they introduced the AirPods, that the 3.5 mm Jack was antiquated technology. And as others have alluded to, you can simply use the adapter provided to still have accessibility to your wired headphones. Non-issue.

Being expensive doesn't make them not based on old technology.

But I dont get the issue? If you want to use your $2000 3.5mm headphones, Apple have a $9 adapter to plug them into the lightning port of this $400 phone.
Bluetooth, wifi, etc, being enforced by Apple and others (followers) doesn't make them new technology either.

It is all about quality, efficiency and practicality. The adapter is yet another dongle you have to carry and try not to lose it. Not everyone wants to attach a pair of headphones to a single device (i.e. keep the adapter permanently attached to the headphones' cable) and not everyone wants to use only a single pair of headphones with his iPhone. And some people would rather have the option of of charging and listening at the same time (don't get me started with the wireless charging option).

I didn't expect it either given what Apple said, but it's not a non-issue. Google had good reasons for including the jack in their Pixel 3a, which is to their jackless Pixel 3 as the SE is to the flagship iPhone.

Tired old to you, but enjoyable for others and it lives on in the iPod Touch.

Yes, to me, but not just me. If the general public really wanted a tiny phone with a tiny screen, they would still be buying them and Apple would still be making them. But they don’t. And haven’t for quite a while. The 4” SE seemed to satisfy a small subset of people, part of whom wanted a smaller than 4.7” phone and part who wanted a cheaper phone. It would be interesting to see Apple’s breakdown of how many SE’s they actually sold during from March 2016-September 2018, because I suspect it is way lower than SE acolytes would care to accept as reality.

The 4” screen size had its day. I’ve been on this train since the iPhone 4, had a 5, a 6 a 6s Plus and now have an XR. I just pulled my old iPhone 5 out of the drawer and it’s like a Shrinky Dink compared to my iPhone XR.The times have changed and the limited screen of the 4/5/5s/SE is now a detriment and not an advantage. Hence, its dead and buried as it should be.

First: learn what a meritocracy is

Second: What if I want to play games on my iphone and the batter is in it's last legs? How can I charge it, or keep it connected to a battery while playing a game and enjoying the soundtrack fully? ...

Oh, damn...
The place I work used to give us iPhone 8 and just switched to giving us iPhone XR.
Now I can see them giving us this one instead...

hurr rhurr hurrr hurrrr

too bad all musicians and people in the music industry / audio still use headphone jacks, and the older type too..

Wow u guys so modern with your Beats headphones and Airpods 😎... (with degraded audio quality through bluetooth AND more battery use)

At some point you have to realize the headphone jack is dead and move on.

So instead of complaining (Which Isn’t helping your case, as the 3.5 mm Jack doesn’t exist anyways), then opt for an iPhone that actually includes a 3.5 mm Jack [or] consider a battery replacement. That seems like two logical options.

Please help out a Mac guy… is it good bang for the buck?

I am looking at replacing my 2013 5C, which still does everything I need, but also becomes more obsolete by the day. Not a phone guy.

The few reviews I've read all say it's good bang for the buck. Most commenters I've read as well. Whether that makes it a good phone, that's up for debate. But if your 5c was getting everything you need done, then yes, this will be a swell upgrade for you.

(The 5c was my favorite iPhone. I'm catching up on episodes of Grace and Frankie on Netflix, and every time Jane Fonda picks up her phone I get a little thrill. Hers is even the same color I had!)

At what point? My old iPhone has it, and if I never need an update, plenty of competitors have it. Maybe Apple can make Bluetooth actually decent and convince me instead of making it seem like they just want to sell expensive AirPods and AirPod accessories.

You know, it took Apple removing the jack for anyone to use Bluetooth headphones. That choice has been around since before the iPhone 1, and basically only geeks used it because it sucked. Hasn't really gotten better since, people just have fewer choices now.

Fun little juxtaposition that used to exist (probably still does but I don't know for sure): the state of Washington has no state income tax, and the state of Oregon has no sales tax. So the town of Vancouver, Washington sits right there on the border. People would buy a home there to establish residence in Washington, but go over the bridge into Portland to shop, lol.

In fact, I once bought a piece of electronics in Washington when I had moved there FROM Oregon, and they told me if I still had the Oregon driver's license I would not have to pay sales tax, as an Oregon resident.

In CA and maybe elsewhere, if you shop elsewhere without sales tax, you're still supposed to pay an equivalent "use tax" when you file taxes. But nobody cares, otherwise, B&H wouldn't have had so much business, lol.
