Using iPhone SE instead of iPhone 9 is Apple's way of publicly acknowledging that they will never release a smaller iPhone (like the original iPhone SE).
iPhone SE compares poorly with competition in all regards but the processor. For example Samsung A51 has 6.5" super AMOLED screen, modern set of cameras (triple camera plus depth camera), under the screen fingerprint sensor and up to 8GB of RAM. It costs $350.
Do you mean "old SE owners, who are a loud internet minority"? Or "a minority of SE owners that are loud on the internet"?This bothers no one except the loud internet minority of old SE owners.
Also it could be due to exchange rates and stuff. If you plug it into a currency converter it might reveal that that it's actually the same amount of money.Doubt you can find a return flight for the ~$80 price difference
In East Asia, females are generally shorter but love bigger phones, as they make their face look smaller.
You know what I meant.Do you mean "old SE owners, who are a loud internet minority"? Or "a minority of SE owners that are loud on the internet"?
I'm an SE owner, and I'm happy about this phone and intend to purchase it.
Thank you for your input.😑4.7" size is garbage.
Except this phone runs iOS which is the biggest advantage.iPhone SE compares poorly with competition in all regards but the processor. For example Samsung A51 has 6.5" super AMOLED screen, modern set of cameras (triple camera plus depth camera), under the screen fingerprint sensor and up to 8GB of RAM. It costs $350.
I for one welcome our new 3GB overlords...I’d be shocked if this doesn’t have 3 GB RAM.
This is the end of an era folks. The era of 2 GB iDevices has ended. The new minimum is 3 GB RAM now.
The iPod touch doesn’t count.![]()
$399 in the US and £419 in the UK! WTF Apple?!
I'd bet that it's because the newer camera has dimensions or shape that won't fit into the iPhone 8 case.No Night mode.
So I was wrong about the camera. I was sure they’ll put in a flagship main sensor, like they did with the OG SE, and like Google does with Pixel 3a/4a, not holding back features. But they decided to go with a 2018 iPhone XR camera in addition to using 2014 iPhone 6 design...
This will probably still sell well but personally I am absolutely not interested.
So basically a 3 year old phone (iPhone 8) with an up to date processor.
Not terrible...but the target audience could also just buy a refurbished 8 for around $250.
Agreed. I’m on an 11 Pro that I’d sell in a heartbeat if this was just a tad smaller. I upgraded from the same sized 6s and I’d love something a little smaller than that to be honest.Too big and too heavy. We really need smaller and lighter phones, not everyone is 5' 11"
Does that include VAT? The US price is without (local) tax.400 US is already about 565 CAD right now. I don’t expect our Canadian currency to gain any value in the near future so they probably put a little buffer just in case.
This new SE won't be as good as the XS or 11 in terms of number of lenses, but they're touting it as "the best iPhone camera" so that's awesome to hear.
