How is ditching your most popular colour option understandable? Across the board Apple’s colour options are hideous. Everything seems geared towards colours that women like. I’m sick of pastel colours with stupid names.
Not sure I get this. Two colors are pretty neutral and in no way could be described as pastel. Two colors are lighter. Seems like consumers have plenty of choices.

So we need a consensus name for sky blue. To me it's baby blue, i heard someone here saying it looks like the blue toilet cleaner. Any other suggestions? (full disclosuere: I already ordered a baby blue/toilet blue one.....)

More complaining, top notch is barely perceptible in lost real estate. If you haven’t tried it then maybe you should. This is what you get pretty sure Apple is trying to figure out a way around this for next gen displays. If you don’t like it go buy a windows machine.
My only concern with the notch is its *just* a camera. I reckon they could squash in FaceID if they tried. Or they could have gone with a punchhole camera but hidden it behind the Apple logo on the menu bar.

Trading in my M3 8GB 256SSD ($550) for the sky blue M4 with 24GB RAM. Kept the same 256SSd since I use iCloud and external SSD.
I’m in a similar boat here, but downgrading just a tad. I ordered a 13” to replace my 15” M2 8gb. The low RAM is a hindrance and given that the laptop is plugged in more than 75% of the time, no big need for the larger screen.

I'm holding off judgement until I see one in the store - my wife has a Starlight Air, and it looks much nicer in person IMO.

Just bought at 15 inch M3 256gb MBA from Costco for $1049. Still aways to go on my return window ... usually Costco sells for $50 below the price on Apple's site, so I wonder if the new one will be $1149 and worth $100 for the chip?

Ah was hoping for the nano screen option but ....

Apple dropped the price instead, which makes sense. Apple has been pursuing market share with the MacBook Air so this strategy continues with the M4 series. Wal-Mart is still selling the M1 MacBook Air for $629, an unappreciated part of this strategy. It’s fine with me as it clarifies my upgrade path from my 2017 5K iMac — I’m ordering the new M4 Max Mac Studio today and the M4 or M5 MacBook Pro at some point with a nano-texture display (C1 modem would be nice in the M5).

What does that do for the screen?
The nano texture screen reduces glare significantly. However, it also makes it harder to clean, and text fuzzier. I actually prefer matte screens for desktops, but not so much for laptops. However, I have the luxury of be able to buy both for my usage. I know a lot of people buy laptops as their sole "desktop" these days.

Thanks!!!

What does this offer me over an m2 in real life usage day to day? Debating this vs m2 at a $200 premium.
AV1 hardware decode support.

macOS updates in the future. The M2 MBA was released in 2022, meaning that it will lose macOS feature updates and security updates 2-3 years before the M4 model will.

Battery life may also be better, but I'm not sure.

Speak for yourself; I'm far from being a woman, but I don't care for dark colors and never have, though I would like some bold and bright colors. No need to be sexist.

The blue looks infinitely better, to me, than the space grey. My M1 was space grey, but I went back to silver for my M4.

YASSS! This is the BEST, MOST POWERFUL MacBook Air that Apple has ever released. The pace of innovation from Apple is staggering. Stay tuned to see if they can keep going at this break-neck pace. This changes everything, all over again, and Apple thinks you're gonna love it. What is in the air? The ALL NEW M4 MacBook Air!
