not really space grey is just 2 shades darker than silver.

now we have
warm silver (starlight)
neutral (silver)
cold silver (blue)
and dark

very understandable
How is ditching your most popular colour option understandable? Across the board Apple’s colour options are hideous. Everything seems geared towards colours that women like. I’m sick of pastel colours with stupid names.

There's a $400 delta on the 24/1TB configuration, which isn't nothing, but having the nano-texture available on the Pro is something I'm considering. Just trying to decide whether it's all worth having a heavier machine to carry around.

Definitely getting nano-texture next time around. But that's what I mean, it's $400 in upgrades to go to 24/512 on the Air, and I believe the base model M4 Pro comes with that. So you get not only the upgrades for the same price but now you have more ports, a fan, etc.

Why remove Space Grey? That was probably the most popular option. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Probably saves a few shekels to only offer one dark color (Midnight now)

Whenever there is a "why are they doing that?" question about Tim Cook Apple, just work backwards from "it makes them more money, somehow"

It could be mere pennies
Tim wants all 'dem pennies

It kind of reminds me of one of the best iPhone colors ever - Sierra Blue

I’ve always thought Silver was the most popular Apple laptop color. Since they have been introducing these darker colors (Midnight, Space Black, etc), space grey seems to be less popular. Apple seems to have eliminated space grey from basically ALL of its products (MacBook Pro already went to Silver and Space Black; no grey IMac or Mac mini; no space grey iPhones, etc)
I got my 2017 MBP in space Frey and reeeaaaally regretted not getting it in silver. Looks better and doesn’t get smudges at all.

Hey, it’s not getting the lower price in Europe..!
It’s still starting at 1610 USD for the 15” in Europe compared to 1200 in the USA.

I’m so tempted though. I think I can afford it. Gotta see it next to the newest competitors though as they have gone through quite a lot of improvements and changes in recent years.

Sweet color too. Now I’m definitely glad I didn’t go for a boring looking Pro.
In Italy the M4 is €200 less expensive than the M3 - comparing my M3 config to to the same M4.

Everyone was losing their minds about how the tariffs were going to burn this country to the ground and all democracy was lost - meanwhile, the MacBook Airs actually got cheaper 😂

Preordered MBA 15" Baby Blue, 24GB, 1TB and an iPad Air, Baby Blue, 256GB.

Now lets see if I can get around the state tax.

My iPad pro from 2017 lasts 2 hrs on battery and my 2015 MBP really is about to die very soon. It crashes almost daily now even with the dedicated GPU disabled.

Now that's a worthwhile upgrade! People with M-series MacBooks (even M1) being tempted by this are mostly just suffering from shiny new toy syndrome (which I totally can relate to) but mostly likely don't actually need an upgrade.
Depending on what you do totally agree.
