Okay, I'm not sure if this was unclear only to me or to others as well, but I just got done watching the video on the MacBook (reminiscent of "how a crayon is born" ala Mr. Rogers) and saw what they mean by "the trackpad IS the button" statement.
This is not a "we are forcing you to 'tap to click' now" thing. They have made it so the ENTIRE trackpad is a button, and when you "click" you push the ENTIRE trackpad (or more realistically, the corner of the trackpad) down into the body of the machine. This way you do have the textile recognition of "pushing" rather than tapping.
I still don't care for the idea of it, but it is at least quite a bit different than "tap to click" as we have known it.
