Well at least you all don't have to wait that long, it took over 8 weeks to get mine last year.... it was not a fun experience at all😂

Getting pretty tired of these prices by Apple. I can buy a touchscreen Lenovo laptop with 4K display for half that price at Best Buy.
Everyone's requirements are different. If touchscreen is important, and OS, performance and battery life less so, then you'd do well to buy the Lenovo.

🤷‍♂️

Who can afford this crap. They literally brought the production down to a single in-house chip and it costs more than ever.. this is all about profit profit profit. The SoC should be making things more affordable. What is wrong with this company. They pretend like they are the fastest machines in the universe. The GPU is still an internal GPU only useable on MacOS. This machine is not business class as it can't run Windows anymore. They are out to lunch. There is goign to be a day people get tired of logic and final cut and what will apple be doing then.
I'm seriously just thinking about ditching Apple entirely because of their ridiculous prices. They charge more and more every year and offer very little in return. For example, I can't believe I paid $800 for an Apple Watch Ultra that should've had the basic features like the extended battery life in the Series 8 watches. But of course, no one would've purchased the Ultra then. That's how they get you. For those who are wondering, yes, I regret buying the Ultra. The extra battery life isn't worth the extra $400.

just ordered the MBP 16 space grey, M2 Max 12-core CPU, 38- core GPU, 32GB (plenty for my needs), 2TB. Pick-up at store Feb 3rd. Upgrading finally from 2017 MBP which was on it's last legs (only working plugged in and touchbar strobing constantly) so will appreciate the boost.

Oh man... You'll regret 32GB RAM choice. Everything else was great, only that one drawback. You are still on time to go up to at least 64GB RAM. Really!

I did not see enough difference, plus prefer a smaller watch. So I bought the series 8 for a lot less.

I bought the 14" M1 MBP as a splurge after getting rid of a base Touch Bar M1. No typical laptop user needs a computer this powerful or nice. I switched from a 3 year upgrade cycle to "as needed" with this computer. I felt like my resale value after three years was still strong enough to justify the jump to the latest model. Now is the first time I felt there was no compromising. No Touch Bar, nice screen, comfortable keyboard, large SSD, 16GB ram. If I somehow start to feel constrained with that, I will upgrade again. I've been through every iteration of MBP since for 15+ years including multiple replacement butterfly keyboards (waiting for my settlement check).

They got it completely right with the 14" M1. They left themselves a lot of headroom to make the chip faster for professionals. For me, the madness finally ended with the M1 14".

I'm in my late 30s but I interact with a lot of the younger crowd for work. It's amazing how many families do not own a computer, or even a tablet. Yet I've shelled out thousands of dollars of the years to ensure I always have a nice computer. Starting to wise up.

Mine took over 5 months. 😭

Ordered my Macbook 16 day of order (Oct 18, 2021), delivered March 29th 2022.
Custom configuration I bet. Those always take longer especially the low volume big memory, big drive units. I just ordered the base 14" and am picking up in store January 24th.

Macbook Pro 16 starts at 2999€ in France.
I remember buying my first ever Macbook Pro 15 in 2008, it was 1799€...
OK, so French inflation alone since 2008 makes that 1799€ now 2150€, and on top of that, in 2008 the € was worth about $1.60USD, but is now a touch under $1.10USD, so in reality accounting for the drop in the exchange rate, that means it should now be around 3120€ for your fabled 2008 machine. Taking inflation and exchange rate into effect, you are actually paying less, but it's primarily the exchange rate that has hit you hardest. I'm faaaaar from an Apple apologist, but that's hardly Apple's fault.

I still have my Series 6 which has the same processor as the Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra.

I've got a 2014 MBP (yeah I'm that guy), so I'm finally ready to hit upgrade. I want a machine that'll last 4-6 years and not feel slow, so I'm going with the 16" Max, I'm undecided on 32GB or 64GB RAM though, how much of a difference does that make? Does it double the capability of the machine, or is it relatively marginal as most of the performance is down to the CPU/GPU cores?

Ultimately the 32GB can arrive in a week, 64GB arrives in two, so my patience may get the better of me, but if it's a significant upgrade to 64GB and means the machine lasts another year, I should probably wait.

My use case is currently as a dev, but with how AI is going I could see myself looking to run some of the more basic stuff locally point.

If any y'all have thoughts on this I'm very much open to hearing them.
Went with the 64GB, that way there's really no reason to need to upgrade for a long while, I'll just have to be patient for one more week but I've waited 8 years.

I get that but I don't think prices should be based on exchange rates. People buying stuff in a country care about price differences in their country. All I see is that price doubled while the product is roughly the same. Yes it got improved in many ways but at the end of the day, it's still a computer people are going to use to get some job done.

In 2008, someone who wanted to started working with a (big) MBP could get started with roughly a month worth of french minimum wage, now it's almost two.

It's Apple we're talking about, they make huge margins, have gazillions dollars on the side and Macs are not their main source of revenue anymore, by far. They could try to flatten the price a bit for countries outside of US. My 2 cents.

And I must add that since I'm an iOS developer, buying a decent MBP, iPhone and iPad are mandatory for me. So when Apple increases price by 20%, I just lose money with no upsides.

Wowsers, expensive if you want a decent amount of RAM and ssd! And it appears they still wont take a Mac Studio as a trade in. I actually might have pulled the trigger on a 14" if I had some trade in value.
Sell your studio to one of the many other buyers of used macs. I have gotten much higher payments from them versus Apple.

I feel the same way, it's just so silly now.

Others are/have caught up or overtaken in so many areas because Apple got lazy, greedy and complaisant.
