Given that there is a dedicated event I think the chances are high that the entire Mac lineup gets the M3 simultaneously… or something else is in the cards. Otherwise they won't have much to talk about to make it a dedicated event in the first place.

I think so too, though if that's true, I will feel bad for anyone who bought the 15" Air with M2. Possibly the shortest-lived Mac of all time?

Ummm, they've used words like Magical and Funner before.
Sure but those are meaning-free words. "Fast" is a bit more specific, and nothing with an M2-family chip in it is going to be faster than the existing MBPs, Minis and Studios.

Possibly it could be some sort of over-clocked "M2-and-a-half"
Possibly it could be a 24" iMac with M2 ("well its faster than the old one")

...but I think both of those would fall under the "marketing flop" category (unless they're released alongside something sexier).

Possibly it could be the new large-screen iMac that some people have claimed is coming (personally, I think that's a myth & would be surprised, but no laws of physics would be harmed) - which I suppose could get a M2 Ultra - but I'd have thought in that case they'd have sold it on ths screen rather than the speed.

Gurman already said iMacs and Macbook.
He said on Oct 16, 2023, that there would be no M3 MacBooks until next year though

In his latest "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said that new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips have now reached design validation testing (DVT), meaning that the devices are nearing mass production. He believes that progress on the new machines indicates that they are likely to launch between early 2024 and the spring, which would mirror the approximate time frame in which the M2 Pro and ‌M2‌ Max MacBook Pro models launched earlier this year.

New 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M3 chip have also apparently reached engineering verification testing (EVT), an earlier production testing phase on prototype devices. Gurman says this puts the next-generation MacBook Airs on schedule for launch between the spring and summer of next year at the earliest

How do you know it's for Macs?

This is not event with a couple of product announcements. If you go to the newsroom on the Apple website below the October 2023 Keynote headline is a link "Add to calendar". If you click on it it will add a 2 hours event to the calendar. It means it will be a long event, similar to the iPhone event. Meaning they will talk about new processors and introduce quite a bunch of new products; possibly iPads as well.

THANK YOU APPLE! M3 iMAC IS COMING!

For the doubters.

1. They wouldn’t be holding an event if it was just an M2 update.
2. There isn’t any rumored iPads, this is an all-Mac event.
3. They wouldn’t use the tagline “Scary Fast” if M3 wasn’t the headliner.
4. The M3 is exactly on time for the 18 month release cycle the M-series chips have.
5. Mark Gurman has said for two years now, that the next iMac will go from M1 to M3 — totally skipping the M2.
6. It’s the iMac’s 25th anniversary.

Also, an 8PM EST Apple Event? Prerecorded or not, that’s really bizarre.

Starting at $3500 iMac... $3500 iMac! Come on, go in debt with me!!! ;)

As we've discussed in other threads, I'll hope right with you... for you... but better get that Apple credit limit ready... and or start counting up the big cash.
That will be a good price...M3 Pro 32" mini-Led imac with 512 ssd starting price

Cash vaults #41-46 are not filling at the expected pace... and recorded events generate more buying than press release updates. ;)

If this is BIG, presumably live, in-person events would > recorded events > press release. So this is a "medium."
again,....they cannot do an event just for the M2 iMac.....because the macbooks are already with M2
M2 imac event that goes for 10 minutes?! get real :)))

Apple's first-ever nighttime event? Day before Halloween? Punny title? Everything about this is amazing 😂

Also amazing how much Kuo has destroyed his reputation this year...has he been right about anything substantial?
