I'm 100% certain this is the M3 launch for some products, as Apple wouldn’t dare use the word "fast" in the main tagline if that wasn't the case. Slapping the old M2 onto the iMac would be "Scary Lackluster" rather than "Scary Fast"!

32" iMac...32" iMac...32" iMac!! Come on, say it with me!!! 😁 It's probably not going to happen, but what can I say, I'm a dreamer!
the bigger imac is out of the question for this year...but with the new M3 family it will be a shame not to bring an 32" mini-led with M3 pro and M3 Max in it

A lot of indecision on whether this event was going to happen. I hope that secrecy translates to Apple unexpectedly revealing two iMac sizes.

Coming from the Intel 27" iMac, stepping down to 24" has kept me from upgrading. 27" or larger please. If there's a 30" iMac M3 Pro – which has been missing from the lineup since the Intel to Apple silicon transition – I swear I'll walk over to the nearest Apple Store and buy it on the spot, no questions asked. 🤩

not just the word...but the whole event...for an M2 products Apple would definitely go press release route

I get that the 15" M2 MBA only came out this last June, but the 13" M2 MBA is almost a year and a half old at this point. The MBA lineup is doing particularly bad in sales right now (along with Macs and laptops in general). I think it'd be a mistake to not offer the M3 in the MBA right now. Then discontinue the M1 MBA and offer the M2 MBA for $999. Simple, clean, easy to understand MBA lineup. Do the same with the old 13" touchbar MBP. Discontinue it and offer the M2 MBP at the same lower price.

Wow, I sure called this one wrong. Sadly, not too much to tempt me I expect. My M1 mini with studio display does everything I ever needed or wanted it to.
Props for the admission dude, not everyone’s good at admitting when they get things wrong (like, say, a lot of folks who make their livings predicting this lol)

Now we get to find out exactly what *is* getting updated, this has been the most muddled set of rumors around an update that I can remember

It would be weird if m3 Pro and Max came to the MacBook Pros and the M3 didn't come to the MacBook Airs. I am going to say they update the following.

I think definitely we will see:

M3 24" iMac
M3 MacBook Pro (w Touch Bar)
M3 Pro/Max - MacBook Pro 14" and 16"

50/50 they update the rest of the line:
M3 and M3 Pro - Mac Mini ***
M3 13" and 15" Macbook Air ***
M3 13" MacBook Air (Original)
M3 Pro/Max - Mac Studio ***

1% Chance:

M3 Ultra Mac Pro ***

Wouldn’t it be Midnight with the clocks going back an hour Sunday morning?

That officially happens at 2am, so those lucky few can stay up to watch the event, then roll the clocks back and watch the event again in the hour gained. So, so lucky! ;)

Then on Monday, when they are late to work, they can explain they got confused about which weekend was the "fall back" one... and hope to redirect their angry boss with talk about the new <whatever> Apple announced.

I guess a lot depends on how well the Mac Studio has been selling. If it's been doing well then I doubt we will see much beyond a 24" M3. If it's been slower than Apple expected then perhaps they will swing the desktops back towards all in ones.

At least this is something for me to look forward to when I return from Furpocalypse in Connecticut that evening! Then the next day, when I go into work (in fursuit, since it'll be Halloween), I can report the new iPad and Mac stuff to my bosses and co-workers.

Considering they are using the phrase "Scary fast", if its not M3, we are talking marketing flop of massive proportions.

Ummm, they've used words like Magical and Funner before. I've been trying to use a "magical" iPad to turn sand into gold for years now but mine seems to lack the very magic that was promoted in big text. I'm trying to get a class action going for lying about it being magical. ;)
