Mark G: "Apple has been planning an M3 iMac for a while, with the machine going into production months ago. No other major changes other than the chip, but the stand’s internal design has been tweaked. I’d expect colors to remain similar."

Mark G: "There are also 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Airs with M3 chips in development, but those are farther behind the MacBook Pros and I don’t expect those until next year. I wouldn’t expect a new Mac mini, Mac Studio or Mac Pro until next year at the earliest"

I never saw an event under 30 min....Nobody said 2 hours...i said 10 minutes...
Again, there will not be an M2 iMac...lets stop here until Monday...even KUO now says it will be M3 family
If it were an M2 imac, Apple would have release it with the apple pencil or even earlier this year through an press release. Gurman said M3 iMac, no M2 iMac months ago

OK, we'll see... and I'll hope right with you. However, if I'm a Mac buyer and there's one or two M3 Macs announced at this event, I probably defer purchases of all other Macs until they go M3. If I'm Apple Inc and want to maximize this most lucrative quarter for sales, I don't want to facilitate such deferments unless I believe 1 or 2 M3 Macs can make up for all of the purchases that then wait for their desired Mac to go M3.

Kuo and German have predicted nothing for the rest of the year, now this event, no M3 until 2024, now M3 at this event. Basically, if one predicts all scenarios, they are always able to claim to be right... and they can be referenced as right if we selectively remember the variations of predictions that were- in fact- right. Key to that though is ignoring the opposing prognostications that shared the many other possibilities like BOTH of them saying no more events for the rest of the year. To lean on them saying this event- which they said would not happen- will deliver M3s- which they also predicted would wait for 2024- is selectively choosing the favorable while ignoring that they were WRONG about even calling this Mac event and M3 timing.

I have no Kuo supply chain connections and no Gurman Apple Inc connections. I just think in terms of the money. If I want to maximize sales of all Macs for the quarter and I can't get the most popular Macs out with M3 in this event, I probably sit on M3 until Q1 2024.

I'll be delighted to be WRONG with my own wild guess here... and the choice of those 2 words certainly implies M3 over M2... but the beancounters must have a lot of faith in a surge of iMac sales to make up for the sales of other Macs that would then WAIT to go M3.

Anyone needing that kind of power will be able to afford the likely astronomically high price for it.

Well it's all just conjecture and rumors. Not like anything he said there was stated as fact. Just what he expects.

with 1 week ..he always been right ..why? because his inside people are always accurate
yes, when he says what he expects with months or years in advance...of course there are 50-50%chances...but look at this guy accuracy when he talks with 1 week or days before the event.

Looking back to May, the only thing about an M3 chip Mark Gurman said was there was one being tested. That's it. He didn't say anthing about an October event or even when we'd see an M3 Mac until this past July.

Plus, I only questioned the month of the event, not that there would or wouldn't be one.
what

did you even read the actual Bloomberg article in your link ?

'My belief is the first Macs with M3 chips will begin arriving toward the end of the year or early next year. '

you are right about this. Gurman never misses this close in.
Not sure about your redesigned macpro though. Just the M3 ultra competing with a 4070......

"Scary Fast" is positive for it not just being a boring M2 and M2 Pro drop in for the iMac. Hope we see M3 and M3 Pro in the iMac and M3 Pro and Max in the Macbook Pros. Oddly sounds like the Air with the base M3 is behind the rest this year but maybe that's to line up the 13" and 15" updates.
These marketing people aren’t given all the info. So it’s likely just related to Halloween that they used scary.

M2 Ultimate
I want Apple to compete at the high end again. It really takes from the brand when they release an m2 ultra in 2023 that isn’t faster than nvidias previous laptop gpus. I also wonder if there is a gaming aspect to the event and that why it’s at night because it’s going to have more gaming focus.
