Never gaming. which AAA game wants to give apple 30% cut? Imagine COD making billions in a week and giving apple 30% of that. You’d have to sell games at $100 to start to make up for it all. The apple silicon is meant to be efficient power use they can’t compete with the big boys like AMD and Nvidia where as a desktop no one cares how much power it consumes - I boot up my workstation to render then I’m done and I turn it off.
VERY surprised they would do this. Unless they're unveiling M3, M3 Pro M3 Max and M3 Ultra for a whole host of hardware.
Up until a few years ago I bought everything new. New iPhone every time it came out etc.Aaaahh another event that makes you machines older

I’m currently using a MacBook Pro 13 inch that I purchased in 2016. The motherboard died and I got a free replacement in 2019. So technically it’s a 2019 laptop.
Think after seven years from my last purchase, I can afford to get hopefully an M3 MacBook Pro !!!
Not that many old timers left I guess. 😉
Of course and it makes sense.
However I am not sure they will release any MBPs.
I have a feeling it’s gonna be iMacs.
Of course, the event will tell.
Either way - when you get the upgrade - Enjoy! May it last a long time.

Thanks Dan! Excited about this one! Expect a gaming theme. Possibly Apple will talk about its ties to gaming companies. Heck, maybe it even bought one??? Talk about transitioning between M2 or M3 iMac, newer iPhones, iPads. Maybe a newer Apple TV with better GPU???
"Scary fast." Clearly a reference to their hardware release schedule, not their software release schedule.
I remember how ridiculously fast my M1 MacBook Air felt one year one before all the updates that have slowed it and made it quite a bit slower and buggier. Adobe has much to blame on that one as usual. But Apple has changed things under the hood that slows down scripting and manipulating windows through scripting. Those calls now take a back seat to all the layers added between the user and the software running in the background. And it's not limited to the air, as an M2 MBP with the same updates is also showing these bugs. It's software related and absolutely started with Sonoma. So a computer that goes so fast it no longer feels like a slow buggy mess would make it seem like a faster system overall.
Lord Tim Cook will grace our screens at nighttime to enchant us and deplete our finances once more.
They honestly haven't released anything GREAT for holiday sales. The whole lineup of Mac and iPad is very stagnant...and boring. Their accessories are boring. Their software is VERY functional but also BORING. Hopefully they do something to actually drive some excitement.

It would be nice if they quit doing this pre-recorded crap. Why the hell do they even have a theater and all that crazy **** on their campus if they never use it? Are they stupid?
That would be great. Never understood why Apple abandoned this market since their WiFi systems were the best most reliable ones I have ever owned and with new mesh networks costing $300+ the money is there for Apple.
look at Apple… their first night event (in MY memory) and themed for Halloween. bravo.
The marketing team has immense power at Apple. Jos has the power to influence the direction of their projects, we've heard just a fraction of those internal battles. I think it's silly to assume the marketing folks would be left so much in the dark they're not sure if a slogan about speed is just putting 9 month old chips in the iMac or something new.
An event for just an m2 iMac with the tagline spooky fast? That seems unlikely. iPhone15 pro sales were weaker than anticipated so they had some extra 3nm capacity to wheel these out early is my guess. Not that apple would ever spin it that way.
While I'd like to see more events at their theater, don't forget a lot of the campus design was made before COVID. The pandemic really threw a wrench into things.
