There is no Apple cult. They just make good products. Unlike a cult, you won't get punished if you switch to another product. Unlike in a cult, you aren't threatened to use their products. That's the main difference from being a fan of something, and following a cult. And people still, despite this, use their products. So there is another reason.

Plain old-fashioned good products and good marketing. Boring?

If the 4S sucked, it wouldn't beat most if not all of the competition at optical quality, speed, display sharpness / dot pitch. I see little competition with these features as well as an AI assistant of Siri's quality in the same mobile phone. And that's how you sell. You may not like these features, you may not be perfectly in their market segment, but obviously many are, or they wouldn't purchase this phone.

I love :apple: Products but it hurts to grown ups/adults acting like kids over a phone, how many people give to charity???? but can run a buy a product fast. The 4s is a decent phone but so is the 4. To me the change from 3gs to 4 was a better and bigger transition compared to this one just my opinions

I think one of the biggest hurdles they face is that the IT professionals are threatened by Apple - the fact that Apple's products don't require the same dedicated service needs that PC based systems do mean IT teams could be reduced significantly.

That's exactly what is going on in my company. There are a few people that would probably be out of a job because BES would no longer need to be maintained. I think it would be a huge cost savings to the company.

I assumed English is not his first language, that's why I let it slide. But still...he actually tried to correct my grammar?? LOL

You know how it is: when someone has no legs to stand on with an argument, they start trying to correct your spelling or punctuation or grammar.

By the way, it's not "English", it's "Farfegnugen".

Don't understand this forum, why the downs for speaking the truth? Is it to justify your own reason for upgrading? Some people might not take pictures or play games on their phone so feel not to upgrade or purchase a 4 (what i'm looking at)

Lol can't believe the amount of down votes i got just for expressing my opinion and my reasoning on why it has been a success.

Was it the fact i mentioned a large majority of people probably don't even realise much difference between the 4s and the 4?

If your ( not you, but the people who down voted me) going to down vote me, at least tell me your bloody reason.

Did i say the iPhone will not be a success? No, I'm just trying to say why i think it has been so successful.

All I know is my little corner of the iPhone World. I first jumped on iPhone 3GS and know pre-odered the iPhone 4S. To my contract has come up and to me the S model has fixed everything in the model it is replacing. Besides at least I don't have to wait for case choices for my new iPhone 4S.

I do both, but thanks for trying to make people feel like **** this early in the AM (time zone dependant, of course).

It's an impressive number but it doesn't really tell a story. This is the worldwide preorder # where previous initial preorders have been U.S. only. Also I'd like to know the ratio of new to iPhone buyers to existing iPhone users simply refreshing their phone. I think that number will tell us a lot more about the iPhones future growth.

They're down votes, not parking tickets. You don't owe us money, and you don't need to explain yourself. If people didn't like what you have to say, either stop saying that (if down votes bother you that much), or keep voicing your opinion, you rebel you.

That's another plus point lol

I'm not really bothered about the fact it hasn't had much of a design changed, however the only thing i am disappointed in is the screen size is still the same.

It just makes sense to have a large screen, gone are the days when mobiles are just for calls, they are becoming more complex (obviously), and apps are becoming more powerful and more creative. Having more screen real-estate which just make things more easy to view, control etc

At least that is what i have noticed with my samsung galaxy s2, However I'm just gonna hang onto my iPhone 4 ( which is still a great phone, and has by far the best apps).

I love how by the time we get to page 5 or 6 almost none of the posts have anything to do with the article.

who cares? you act as if downvotes validate your life or something. They mean nothing. there's 11 year olds on this forum who downvote everything, and upvote what they like too. being downvoted doesn't mean crap. look, i'll downvote myself...again...

First, you used exaggerated numbers for (1) and the incorrect launch countries for (2) and you made up statistics for your concluding sentence.

Second, if you really believe those are the primary reasons for the success of the iPhone 4S, do you really think a popular Android phone would have the same reaction?

It's a forum for discussion, If you going to down vote me, at least have the balls to explain your reasons and why you disagree. Maybe that will make the place more interesting, healthy discussions and debates etc :)

Both words are correct actually. So while my correction of V's usage was incorrect (see I can admit fault) - the word affect could be used as well. Thanks.

I posit that most people that complain about others buying a cellphone instead of giving to charity do not not themselves give to charity. Reason: 1) It is an uncharitable assessment of others and 2) if they did give to charity, they'd realize they are not mutually exclusive.

No, these were the countries that got the iPhone 4 on release last year:

US, France, Germany, UK, Japan

Australia and Canada have been added to those countries for the iPhone 4S

Eh? We had the 4 on launch last year as well in Canada. As far as I remember.

The bigger question is, why are some surprised with this?? We've already seen iPhone 4, a device launched well over a year ago, actually grow in sales. Did people really think the successor would flop even though it contained some real improvements? Apple's biggest goal with the 4S was to meet the demand with expanded retail channels and there was no question the 4S would succeed in terms of quantity sold.

I'm not sure if I'm one of the people who downvoted you, but (speaking strictly for myself) when I downvote someone, it's only because I disagree. That's about all the explanation I feel I owe somebody.

In fact, about the only time I go out of my way to post about why I disagree with them is when I disagree with them so much, I just can't help myself. Otherwise, it's just "click" and move on.

Ok fair enough, i accept I made mistakes, however I'm not saying the iPhone 4s wouldn't have been successful without those reasons, i'm just saying surely they must of contributed towards it's recent success.

16 ( think, correct me if i'm wrong :p ) months wait for this iPhone 4s was always going to get a lot of people buying.

Good points. Also, since it's kinda dickish to try and guilt someone into donations, and giving donations is in itself an un-dickish act, it's hard to imagine the guilt-bringer being un-dickish enough to actually donate.

"You comment on things that have no effect on you". The word "effect" was used as a noun to mean "result" and that was the correct usage in the sentence. But yes, you were wrong.

Now, please stop trying to deflect with failed attempts at grammar correction. At best, you know what I meant regardless if my usage was right or wrong and that makes you look silly, at worst it makes you look dumb when you're proven wrong.
