These people must be brainwashed!! I hate Apple! I hate its closed ecosystem and prefer Google's open Android platform! I loathe Apple that it deliberately makes fragile iPhone and wants its customers to buy new iPhone whenever they release ones!! Their products are wayyyyy overpriced and they don't donate their profits to third world countries!! I WANT FREEDOM AND I DON'T WANT TO BE CONTROLLED BY APPLE!!! :p

Cool story Bro.

Your statement and your signature combine to make your own little reality distortion field.

I honestly don't understand why people not only go on an Apple fan page but actually take the time to sign up and then speak badly about of all things...Steve Jobs!!!??? Really, isn't there something much more important to do with your time?

what a shame .. if only theyd made it 4G compatible for the UK ... until then ... the wait continues :-( As does my iPhone 4.0 in me jacket pocket!

Ehm, the iPhone5 IS compatable with LTE in the UK. By this Weekend you have one Provider (EE) and the iPhone5 works with them. (1800 Mhz)
Where is the problem?

I really like how this time around Apple isn't screwing over the current iPhone owners by offering a software feature that's only available on the new phone (think Facetime, Siri). It seems like on Wednesday everyone with an iPhone4s is going to get all the same software stuff as the iPhone5...that's pretty cool.

The fact that the new phone is still selling so well is interesting. I wonder how many of those orders are from iPhone4s people? I'll probably upgrade after my contract runs up in May 2013...this time however I'm going with a no-contract provider. The phone may be more expensive but the plans generally seem to be cheaper and give the user more freedom.

I'm a current iPhone 4S user who upgraded to the 5. I was perfectly content with my 4 and when the 4S was released I was perfectly content to wait for the 5. Unfortunately, something unknown caused my 4 to be perpetually in "dock mode" and I had no sound coming through the speakers (this is a big deal for me as I use my iPhone more for music than just about anything else). Apple couldn't figure it out and as I was out of warranty I was forced to either shell out money for a replacement 4 or spend a tiny bit more for the 4S. I wrestled with it but Siri won me over and I got the 4S as a birthday present.

That being said, I was able to use another line's upgrade (family plan) for my 5 and will continue my "every 2 years" upgrade cycle like I had always planned.

Only 4 more days :D

I'll probably eventually buy one, but only because my old iPhone 3G was dying and I have the loan of a iPhone 4 with a dodgy Home button.

The thing is, for me even the iPhone 4 is good enough. The only time I'd need the extra performance is gaming, but now I always use the iPad over the iPhone. We're not likely to have 4G networks here until the end of 2013! I rarely use the camera...

The only things that would have wowed me would be a completely new design, and a big improvement in battery life.

Like I said, I'll still end up getting one... Damn you Apple....

See you are getting one out of necessity. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Just because the Iphone 5 isn't revolution in design doesn't mean it is a buy for a lot of people. So what it doesn't look something different. They are a business and changing the design so radically could impede sales. Plus how much can they really change? People want 4.3, how many people want 4.3 or bigger? It's a small percent. They aren't gonna start making every screen size just yet. They only release one phone per year!

Internally, outside of NFC, the Iphone has the specs to match or even surpass major cell phone companies. So if your contract is up, you can make a decision to move to Android or keep your ecosystem and keep using your iOS device iphone.

There is nothing wrong with that. It's a choice and investment in that eco-system that has gotten you to make that choice.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and I don't get how people need to have a stupid flame war and accept people for choosing a device they happen to not enjoy. I think its stupid and ironic considering the fact that if 100% were on android, you get this 10% group of flamers that would hate android now.

I think the interesting note will be adoption rates and actual statistics.

Are we seeing people moving to the iphone5 from other platforms?
Are we seeing more people upgrading from previous iphones?
Will the iphone5 be able to maintain sales levels?

the iphone4/s was a success. But one cannot ignore the fact that within the end of the quarter of it's release, the Iphone sales dropped considerably and revenue was closer in line with the 3gs and 4's releases again rather than the initial success of the 4s.

From a business perspective, ti will be interesting to see just how strong the sales are after the initial hype. Cause last time around, I think even apple was shocked that they weren't making record sales every quarter

Thank u for being factual.

Too many people speak with their emotions.

Android continues to threaten apples bottom line.

No wonder apple sues everyone.

D'oh! Read me post ... I am with O2 .. both they and Vodafone are not geared up just yet and are livid with EE for beating them to the line .. so EE users can and will get 4G (tho at what added premium is anyone's guess) but other providers can wait .. and wait . .and when they do get the 4G deal theyll find their existing iPhone 5s are about as much use as the original iPhone in getting LTE service .... 'cos theyll need a compatible phone to match their alloted frequency .. nothing like a bit of competition is there .. and this is nothing like that .. hurrah for UK enterprise!

2X CPU power
2X Graphics power
2X RAM
2X sales in the first 24 hours than last year to 2 million units

Ofcourse, as you know, Apple is doomed to hell and beyond for this innovation-less minor update.
If Steve Jobs were still around he would not have allowed this.

That's because the numbers are proof that they are full of ****. so they wait in the shadows until the next flaw comes along.

See what I mentioned previously.

Also, where did these numbers come from, exactly? The phone hasn't launched yet. I have seen no proof of anyone getting their hands on the phone aside from some supposed benchmarks. They may very well be real. But if they are, why aren't we seeing videos of the phone running in all its glory (instead of a stupid benchmark)?

i know this is sarcasm.

But I do not think you know what innovative means :p

making something faster, doesn't necessarily mean innovative :p

(please don't take this as me taking anything away from the iphone5, it's a good phone, in line with the top end phones from everyone else. But Innovative? is it bringing something truly new to the table? Some feature? item? design queue or element unseen or unrecognized?. No,it is not)

Great phone. Great product. But the term Innovative is getting smacked around like a wet towel in a locker room.

I've only ever really used this site for info and for posting a couple of questions about new releases over the last couple of years so don't know the tone or 'culture' here but if you really do believe that (imo utterly ludicrous) statement why did you bother joining and creating 1500+ posts?

Obviously feel free to do so and I'm sure you're adding something to the mix here (although it's not immediately apparent to me what that might be), but I'm not sure I'd have the time, energy or motivation to post that kind of stuff on a Samsung forum, even if I did believe they'd built a company on the coat tails of the work of people like Steve Jobs (which of course I don't ;) )

Well said!

Translation:
Damn it Apple why do you have to make a product people want! Whyyyyy can't your product be crap??? I hate Apple for making me want their product!!! I wish I could justify not wanting their product! Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Was to be expected. Iphone sales Q2 2012 : 35 millions Q4 : 26 million . Obvious a lot of people didnt want to buy iphone 4s but waited, perhaps longer then previous years.

Certainly when we compare that to 2011 : Q2 18 million Q3 : 20 million

----------

That's what happens when we regularly get fandroids bash the iPhone and they all of sudden all disappear when faced with reality.

What reality? That apple like android sells a lot of phones? Doubt there is any android fan that delusional he actually tought the iphone wouldnt sell like before.

I think that Android is better but I'll buy the iPhone 5 anyway. I'm just too lazy to switch the ecosystem  Besides, Omnifocus is not available for Android and I haven't seen a good alternative.

i'm surprised...

at&T (and maybe other carriers) are not allowing an early upgrade so I would have thought the early uptake would be much slower than past phones.

- so are orders from people with older phones?
- or are people actually paying the non-subsidized fee?

If you have a 4s you can get close to $450 on craigslist which pays off most of the phone.

Sales figures alone do not a great iPhone make. Proof?. Look at yer average Hollywood action blockbuster .. people see these films and vote them to the top of the movie charts because theyre ... blockbusters. Ask them what they thought of the film afterwards and its a different story .. Pearl Harbor for example .. terrible film but fantastic sales figures ... Apple have a (current) captive audience / customer base thro' the success of the iPhone 4.0 and 3GS .. not the 4S. Once folks realise theyve been duped by upgrading 'for the sake of upgrading' - several hundreds of dollars to basically own the same phone form factor as what they already have .. then maybe .. just maybe the wee light in their 'heids' might come on and they say "No way, Ray. This is more of the same - the lazy sods! I will await the iPhone 5S thanks very much"
The likelihood however is that the iLemmings will form an orderly queue at the top of the cliff and shout "Let me buy whatever has the new logo and take my cash card because I have bugger all else to spend my disposable income on ..."

what a shame .. if only theyd made it 4G compatible for the UK ... until then ... the wait continues :-( As does my iPhone 4.0 in me jacket pocket!

You can try to rationalize it all you want, but the fact remains that Apple has produced a quality product which people are voting for with their wallets. Your attempt at belittling people's purchase is drowned out by the sea of two million happy customers.

I dont agree with you, and Im not confused at all. And please stop sounding like you have a patent on the truth. Im just writing about my opion.

Niché/different does cover the same thing, when interpreted as not "generel/classic" way of doing things.

For me the click-wheel is a genius invention! Its not allways better to go forward, sometimes you stick to some of the few very good innovative design. The click-wheel is for me one of them.

You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to my opinion that your opinion is confused. ;)

Niche and different don't mean the same thing but even accepting your definition of "not being general/classic" Apple remains different for all the reasons I outlined. Maybe you can point out another company like Apple that designs its own hardware and software and provides it's own stores, services, media and app stores and releases only one new iteration per year focusing on one direction rather than trying to fill every niche? No? Then Apple is not "general/classic".

I didn't say the click wheel wasn't good. It was. But you said you want different, not better. If you want different you should be happy they did something different even if it isn't better. :)
