While it is your personal opinion that the iPhone doesn't need to be talked about anymore, that is not a shares opinion.

No one is holding a gun to your head and making you read these articles so don't.

the site is called mac rumors not iphone rumors ok, and secondly its says "news and rumors you care about" and the iphone now its overated while we dont know nothing about the new imacs ok so chill the f out.

These people must be brainwashed!! I hate Apple! I hate its closed ecosystem and prefer Google's open Android platform! I loathe Apple that it deliberately makes fragile iPhone and wants its customers to buy new iPhone whenever they release ones!! Their products are wayyyyy overpriced and they don't donate their profits to third world countries!! I WANT FREEDOM AND I DON'T WANT TO BE CONTROLLED BY APPLE!!! :p

Why are you here? unbelieveable...

Few facts:
Apple is not going away!
Samsung is not going away!

Why do we constantly compare the two and spend countless hours debating which is better? I'm in the Apple camp and have made a conscious decision to this point. I'm happy for my Android loving friends...it's just not for me. Hardware/Software...which is better...who cares?

We are at a point in the smartphone world where incremental improves are the best we can expect. So it really boils down to user experience. My experience needs are different than the Android camps. I believe Apple is better positioned to improve the end users experience, but do I really care if Android users think? NO!

Not to start a flame war, but I do not lurk in the Android forums, but it seems their is a huge Android following in MRs...I wonder why?

Hear. Hear.

Stocks are not indicative of economic growth.

Yes they are...

But here's the unemployment rate if you want to see that too:

We are at a record low since the end of the recession in 2009. (http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000)

I just _do_not_ don't understand the mindset of those types of folks, but I guess I'm a happy, positive person. :)

I think that really is the bottom line. If someone is happy then they don't begrudge the happiness of others even if they think there is no way that person can "really" be happy because they aren't using the same product or thinking the same way I do.

That's the mentality of PC / android users unfortunately. Pimple faced keyboard warriors. They always claim Apple buyers are smug but I never see an Apple owner being rude to a PC / android owner.

You kind of contradict yourself there. You refer to PC/ android users as "Pimple faced keyboard warriors" and then in your very next sentance you state "but I never see an Apple owner being rude to a PC/ android owner"

Not that its really relevant to the thread, but it was over the space of a week. It was reported at the end of the first week when pre-orders opened ;) The iPhone 5 still beats the record.

Meh. It can be any number any lenght of time they want 'cause Samsung never report official sales in thier financial report anyway. What do they fear?

I love when people write comments like "worst iPhone ever", "what were they thinking??" and "bye iPhone, hello S3" and then I hear news like this. Makes me smile :)

Yes it's truly amazing how many people just follow the crowd.. Heaven forbid consumers actually bought a product on merit rather than jump on the apple bandwagon.

In case you're a yank and don't understand sarcasm, I'm being sarcastic. How about just buying a product because you want to rather than investing in Schadenfreude..

There is nothing more sad than lining outside a store for a product you can Pre order online and have delivered on launch.

For any product this is really sad.

There are 2 million people who either have nothing better to do, are super excited about this, or use the iPhone as a status symbol. Looks like Apple's attention to quality is paying off in free publicity once again.

2 million people are just going with the stream.

Apple is not a "niche"/"we do it different" brand anymore.

Apple are given people what they want - just to make money (and thats ok - and good for the investers!). I think instead they should be more innovative and keep on designing things that surprises me. Keep on giving me things that are more "nice to have" than "need to have" because of aesthetic reasons.

The new ipod linie is a step back (maybe 2 gens.) if you look a the design - where is my very loved click-wheel? The Iphone is just more of the same.

Apple is a huge succes, no doubt! But for my money I want to be surprised and design-overwhelmed rather than getting the (maybe) best performing product. I guess its just not a brand for me anymore..

Apple was never about a niche company. Steve was about creating useful gadgets that were easy to use and segued seamlessly into people's everyday lives. And naturally, when you achieve that, they are going to be products which are popular and enjoy a high demand. It just so happens that for the past few products, they happened to be both practical, performed well and looked aesthetically pleasing.

If you feel that way, then I can only say that maybe, you have been following the wrong company for the past few years?

Those who are mentally deluded need to grasp the concept of a pre-order and sales stock.

Completely different concepts.

8.1% may be a "record low" since the end of the recession in 2009, but that's not saying much. It was a deep recession and has been a slow and uncertain recovery. Plus, most EU economies are either back in recession or are expected to dip into recession soon. The combined economy of the 27 EU members is larger than ours, and they are a huge buyer of American products, so it is having an impact on us.

100% year on year growth of just about any product is good right now. This isn't 1999 or even 2006.

confused...

I pre-ordered around 6am on friday and I hear of people having got all this shipping info and SN manufacture info already.... but my order is still on Processing with a October 5 delivery date!

Is it possible to have slipped that far back in the delivery schedule after only 3 hours of pre-order?

And, how is it that the stores will get allocations of phones to sell on Sept 21st, while same day release, pre-orders like me will still have to wait another TWO weeks?

Kinda of a rip to those who get up early and pre-order.

I actually tried to have it delivered to the local apple store, but that option was greyed out for me....

I'm a big supporter of Apple and have been for many years, but this seems like a big fail in some respects. I thought Tim Cook was the shipment management wizard (or something to that effect) that would streamline shipping and ordering, whereby this bumpy road that we're going down, speaks otherwise.

I hope this poster is able to learn more about business and the fact that a company doesn't have to be vertically integrated across it's entire product line or even any of it's product line for that matter.

Until then, any response would just be a waste of time.

I think he wrote that message in babelfish

I know the recovery is slow, but the question was whether or not we are better off right now than a year ago. The economy is better now and has been improving.

I really wouldn't worry too much. The whole thought that Apple (or really anyone) can coordinate 2 million pre-sale units is actually pretty amazing. Add into the craziness of working with cell phone providers, and I think they're doing well.

Now we know why Apple could care less about an iMac update. Show me the money!:D

Makes sense there is no way to see numbers like this in any other product no matter what they do. iPad and iPhone are hot and for a good percentage of people they don't even wait for their contract to be over before they get the next version.

How many people are going to buy a new iMac every year. Maybe every 5 years is more of the norm if not 7.
