Please bring this to the UK so I can finally ditch Sky forever.
I wish you good luck getting that! Apple will likely be using a modified version of the Sky Sports English-language feed but with more Apple-exclusive content. One thing I really hope is that the race organizers of the Monaco Grand Prix will turn over coverage to a more competent organization, though.

In the US the only way to watch F1TV is going to be via the Apple TV subscription. What I can't figure out from the press release is whether or not the full F1TV premium product will be an add-on charge to the regular Apple TV (+) subscription.

It sounds like it will be an additional subscription like the MLS Season Pass is. Note that you do not have to subscribe to Apple TV to subscribe to MLS Season Pass so I presume it will be the same here.

Update: It is included in the base Apple TV subscription. No additional fee.

The F1 press release does say that "select events" will be free-to-watch, which is what we have now with some of the major races aired on ABC.

This. Weird if F1TV is made free for Apple TV subscribers..that's at least $60/yearly being lost by them.

Only select events will be free to air. If you want everything, you need to subscribe.

And the premium plan is $130 a year. What will be disappointing is if we in the US lose access to all the extra shows and race archives that F1TV provides.

This may be as simple as F1TV's content just moving to Apple TV. So instead of using the current F1TV app to watch everything, you watch it through the TV app.

I'm confused. Are the cars literally going to be in the app on my iPad or in the box sitting under my TV, or virtually displayed on some device using a streaming system? It just says on "A TV".

I presume everything will be carried via the Apple TV app on devices or the Apple TV website.

Trying to figure out if you will need just an AppleTV(+) subscription, or if it will be a separate subscription like the MLS Season Pass???

Never understood where the fun is in watching cars go in a circle from the TV
Never understood where the fun is in watching people opine about something when they literally have no idea what they're talking about. There isn't anything approximating a circle, an ellipse, or any closed convex curve in any of the F1 grands prix. There are multiple left and right turns in every single F1 course.

Have you ever blindfolded yourself and touched a part of an elephant? Asking for a friend.

My belief is it will be the latter. And if you also happen to have an Apple TV subscription, you will receive a discount (as you do for MLS Season Pass).

Update: It will be included with the basic Apple TV subscription. No additional fee.

Ok now give us immersive spatial streams for the AVP

Not happening ……. They brought a stream of the race

While we can expect just the F1TV Premium feed and content to start, I could see Apple working with FOM to offer more capabilities over the coming years.

I have seen some cool fan-produced ideas for Apple Vision Pro like an AR overlay of the cars circulating along the track like we see on the team's pit wall screens. Maybe an overlay of precipitation on track tied into the weather radar. Etc.

2 things:
Do not Not NOT let Danica anywhere near this.
for AVP - Apple can look to the team at Lapz (lapz.io)
Sad to sad, but I bet Danica will be a big part of this. Either way Apple will ruin it. I've watched a lot of stuff on Apple TV+ and most of it is total crap compared to Netflix, Disney/Hulu, Acorn and Britbox.

You’re thinking of nascar or cart/indy racing (drive fast turn left).. this is road tracks, they go right too..

That said, this is
Totally
Dumb
Waste
Of
Money

They’ll never monetize this and I think it will only reduce audience size in the USA - world wide nothing really changes.

I can ONLY imagine they could possibly see some return on the ~ $700MILLION spend IF they managed to incorporate some DF1/F1 app features in a very concentrated integrated way AND

With their technology chops, bring new technology TO THE CARS for video captures (which they did with the filming of the F1 movie) and bring all that content, into something like the VISION PRO for an overwhelmingly immersive and dynamic user selectable racing experience.. IMAX ON YOUR FACE..

now THAT would be killer and I’d buy that for ~ $4000 over five years.

I'll spot you Acorn and Britbox as I love British murder mysteries and comedies, but Netflix and Disney/Hulu? :p

This is great. But Apple stop shoving all these sports in my face with popups and notifications i cant stop with out stopping all notifications.... i would bet most subscribers don't care, the ones who do would subscribe to the notification's.

Hmmm..... now what are the chances. can use my VPN on my Apple TV and get access to this in the UK? I do it for the F1 app.

“In a new five-year deal, Apple is becoming exclusive broadcast partner in the US for all Formula 1 rights.

Apple TV, the recently rebranded streaming service, will include comprehensive access to Formula 1 races for all subscribers.

That means that unlike Apple’s MLS service, which is a separate paid subscription, Formula 1 races will stream entirely free for Apple TV subscribers.

So in addition to gaining access to hit shows like Severance, Ted Lasso, and The Morning Show, Apple TV subscribers will also have full Formula 1 access—including “all practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix.”

Although I love F1 and would really like to have this in my country I'm not really a fan of putting sports into streaming services
Considering the overall audience, costs and repeatability value I really doubt of the wisdom of these moves.

Yes, reading this:

"You need a regular Apple TV subscription, which currently costs $12.99 per month or $99.99 annually [to watch F1 in 2026]. There won’t be a separate package, just a single subscription."

and

"Holmes said F1 TV will continue to be available in the U.S., though the subscription aspect will be merged into Apple’s ecosystem. This means “Apple TV subscribers will be able to access F1 TV as part of their Apple TV subscription,” he said."

So sounds like F1 TV may become part of the regular AppleTV subscription, without the additional cost, which is admittedly hard to believe.

I was previously convinced that Apple was going to put F1 behind another paywall like MLS. Sounds like that’s not happening, which is good I guess, although I am sure cost of AppleTV will be going up next year.

"That obviously means no more (F1) coverage on ESPN"

Has being only on ATV been good for MLS?

It seems like these things get buried in terms of exposure when they go to a platform like Apple TV.

Apple also plans to “amplify the sport” through its other channels—Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+. There will even be a designated widget for iPhone home screens.

Oh joy..
I don't even know what that could mean for Apple Maps and Fitness+
