Never mind whining about the chin, what about the (lack of) storage? 256GB or 512GB is nowhere near enough.
So tell us please what you need more than 512 GB for. And since it’s a desktop, why you can’t use an 8TB external SSD and an external 14TB hard drive for backup.

This is a CONSTANT comment from people, and its really irritating seeing it ALL....THE.....TIME. Not everyone needs more than 256. My work computer is 256.

It's also got two fans and a >100W power supply. Unless you literally just want an iPad Pro with a massive screen, comparing the two doesn't make much sense.
How about, instead of putting the M1 in the display, they ditch all-in-ones and go back to separate display and cpu? The display would only need one wire to bring power and video and look great, with all the other cables and peripherals connected to the cpu.

And how does an iPad fit a battery in there with no chin, while the iMac doesn't have a battery and will crash if unplugged from power. There is no benefit to an all-in-one or line-powered anything anymore, it is just a vestigial fetish at this point.

Yes, much better, even the stand looks better.
What I, and plenty others would have preffered is a thicker body with the guts behind the display without a chin, and 2 colours only, standard (aluminium) and space grey.
I don’t get the colour complaints.

ok you wanted space grey, despite it never being offered on a consumer level iMac before. Sorry.

or you wanted plain silver aluminium. Great news it comes in silver at all price points.

but no other colours... huh? Why do you care if it’s available in more colours than you want? Do you also complain because a restaurant has items you don’t eat the menu ?

so the new iMac is meant to be placed in the bedroom of teenage girls? (or 30/40-somthing women who think and act like they are still in their teens?)

at least add pure white and black to the colors?
It’s also suitable for men with confidence in their masculinity.

I heard one of the living ex-presidents ordered one in orange to match his ... ahem ... lifestyle.

Ugh, I was ready to buy this before even seeing it. But no 27" display?!? No vesa mount option?? Guess tall people are screwed. 7 ugly COLORS AND NO SPACE GREY?!? Wish they made the bezels smaller and got rid of the bottom bezel, even if it were thicker, who cares about speakers?! This isn't a portable device, who cares about thickness, I wanted a cleaner front. Any why get rid of the Apple logo on the front?! The price is good, but they just f'd a giant segment of their iMac customers. And without any reasonably priced non-pro Apple monitors, my only option is an iMac mini with a 3rd party display at this point if I want an M1. Seriously WTF Apple!?!
It does have VESA and the 27" are coming later.

Hummm ok ... My current iMac is 27" with 64GB Ram, but the new one has 8GB and is the same as the Mac Mini M1 but in a 24" display ... I may as well just use my M1 MM get a larger external screen and forget the iMac. Shame. I had planned an update this year but I dont think I will now.
You have a high-end iMac. Apple just release a replacement for the low-end iMacs. Why would you think anyone at Apple expects you to replace your high-end iMac with a low end model, just because it’s a lot better than previous low end iMacs?

BTW It’s April. Seven months after Apple announced to replace all Intel Macs with Silicon, they have replaced all low-end Macs now. Eight more months in this year.

Yeah i mean i wonder if the port still has a optical connection inside or if that’s gone too. Because it looks like a weird placement for something that’s supposed to be connected permanently, like desktop speakers for example.
Yeah. I mean some people might be plugging and unplugging headphones all day - but I thought Apple wanted us all using AirPods to seamlessly switch between devices. Its not a deal breaker - it just seems an odd compromise to make. The depth of the body is probably part of it too, but still....

Relax, it's just an opinion.:)

They should have put "iMac" (like on the old G3) or the Apple logo on the chin. That bare space is cringey. I think just that small touch would have lessened the complaining a little too.

To bad they excluded the black option, that would be the one i would be going for. I mean now I’m kinda confused, i will be getting one but I’m not sure which color, leaning towards silver but yellow is also my favorite color otherwise so 😆
Agreed. I would have liked white as well. Out of these, though, I'd go with timeless silver or green (I LOVE the green iPad Air).

No M1 replacement for the iMac 27"??? VERY disappointing. Hoping Apple does not intend to force those of us who need the larger (>= 27") display to upgrade to a horrifically expensive Pro model!
Patience is a virtue.

I read about 10 pages, and I gotta say, some of the complaints are silly.

"This is a garbage machine because I want/need 27"!" Well, OK, that's fine. I missed the Apple announcement where they said that this was the largest screen they were ever going to put on an iMac ever again. (related complaint is other features that are no doubt coming in the next iteration that aren't in this one, so therefore it's garbage)

"I hate all of the colors, included the silver that has been the only color you could get non-Pro iMacs in for over a decade, and is the same color as my last three Macs, iPhones and iPads!"

"It's limited to 16gb of RAM, and I need (32? 64?). Have you read any of the articles and reviews about the current M1 Macs over the last 5 months? 16gb on an M1 appears to be about the same as 32gb on an Intel Mac, which is fine for 99% of Mac users and probably 99.9% of "smaller screen" iMac users. Most (not all) of the people who are complaining about the limited amount of RAM will be fine with 16gb. I'll bet most of them would be fine with 8gb.
