Yeah. I mean some people might be plugging and unplugging headphones all day - but I thought Apple wanted us all using AirPods to seamlessly switch between devices. Its not a deal breaker - it just seems an odd compromise to make. The depth of the body is probably part of it too, but still....
I would of preferred the connection to be on the bottom, that way you don’t obstruct the sides of the computer if it’s in a tight space, would of been a little bit more acceptable at least in my eyes but i assume they have their reasons for that placement anyways.

I don’t get the colour complaints.

ok you wanted space grey, despite it never being offered on a consumer level iMac before. Sorry.

or you wanted plain silver aluminium. Great news it comes in silver at all price points.

but no other colours... huh? Why do you care if it’s available in more colours than you want? Do you also complain because a restaurant has items you don’t eat the menu ?
Well said. People just need to complain.

Interesting move from Apple, definitely pitching to specific markets with these. Trying to lighten things up a bit. But now segmenting the 24” away from the 27/30/32 which will likely be reserved as a pro unit. Maybe the pro unit will get its own chinless, black bezel design? One can dream. Just hope that whatever the new large model is ... isn’t as expensive as the old iMac Pro.

Without a chin where else would people leave a sticky note with their password on it?
Jokes aside, make a password consisting of something personal you can remember (and that your colleagues can’t find out) plus eight random letters. Then you can put the eight random letters on a sticker where hackers can’t see them. Nowhere near perfect, but it beats both an easy-to-remember password in your head, and a secure password on a sticker.

The chin clashes HORRIFICALLY with the white bezel. Why, why, WHY did they have to make the bezel white. It's horrible! I'll admit that from the back they look lovely, however you won't see the back most of the time. I cannot overstate just how much I HATE the look of the thing from the front. That disgusting white bezel and the chin with faded, pastel colours. If the bezel was black and the chin was the same colour as the back (or at least, slightly more colourful) it would look so much better. I'm really not a fan of removing the Apple logo from the front of the computer either. It's like when they removed the 'MacBook Pro' from the front of the MacBook Pro's a few years ago, it just makes the computer look like a cheap knockoff and look like something is missing.

I'm also not a big fan of the redesigned stand. Despite the old version being 16/17 years old, it's still a far more elegant solution than this redesign. It feels like they panicked and tried to iPad smart keyboard-ify the stand.

From a design perspective, the back looks great however the front is an absolute CAR CRASH. The front is one of the most catastrophically ugly designs Apple have ever launched (it's up there with the iPhone Smart Battery Case).

As a designer myself and someone who has devoted my entire life to creating simple, elegant solutions to design problems, I'm pretty angry at just how poor the front of the new iMac looks. I won't be getting one because of it. If I had to sit down in front of that thing and look at it everyday, it would drive me NUTS (from a visual/design perspective). The white bezel clashing with the pastel chin, no Apple logo. It's a mess.

I honestly cannot believe APPLE, of ALL people, signed off on this design calamity.

It doesn't fill me with confidence for future product redesigns. I'm actually worried. I'm pleased I got my M1 MacBook Pro when I did. You just know they're going to try and do something similar with the notebooks next. Maybe not with the MBP or Air. I think the entry level MacBook could be coming back VERY soon and designed to look similar to these iMac's & the old clamshell iBook's. I'd guess at a price between $800-$950.

Downward facing ports on a display are enough to make a grown man cry, even on a display that rotates.

> How do I see where to plug this in?

> well either you pick up the whole computer, or you scratch around with a 3.5mm jack over the surface till you find the hole. I bet it’ll sound awesome if you forgot to turn off the speakers/amp first.

I want to see some good high resolutions pictures of this before I render final judgement. Better yet if this becomes available in-store sometime in May then I’ll get a firsthand look at it at work when they put a demo on display (I work at Staples in Canada). Re: the colours—eberyone knows what the silver looks like, but I’ve also seen firsthand what the green and blue look like on the new iPad Air—they’re not bad. Pink, though, I have doubts. Rose Gold is popular so that might have been a better option.

I’ve been waiting for the new iMac and I want to see how configurable this will be. I’m not in dire need for a new computer so I can wait to see what the forthcoming 30in.(?) has to offer.

If a configured version of this new iMac offers what I’m looking for then I’ll likely take the plunge. Even a 24in. model is a possibility given I presently have a 21.5in.

Exactly my feeling about these new iMacs, some here though don't appreciate other people's opinion.;)

Can't believe the iMac redesign. It's so bad it's actually funny. For the first part of the presentation I was bewildered, then I got along with the joke, what the hell.

This is the iPhone 5C of iMacs. They didn't have to go there, man.

Wow that's... ugly. Don't mind the idea of colours but not in pastel shades with white. Height still not adjustable. I like the integrated ethernet port. Low end iMac for everybody I guess. Now, bring on the Pro version in 32" (space grey all over) with M1X (or M2...) and we'll be talking.. WWDC?

This reminds me of the Tesla Cybertruck reveal.

When the truck rolled out... I was thinking "this is a joke, right? They're gonna drop this and show the real Cybertruck..."

But no... that was it.

I was watching from someone's blurry smartphone livestream at the event... so I thought the picture was distorted! Nope!

Besides a questionable look, the lack of touch capability remains the key reason why an MS integrated is far superior for this kind of device.

Coming from a full mac user.

Do you mean like the Surface Studio that lays flat on a desk? Like a drafting table?

Because no one wants to raise their arms to paw at a 24" vertical screen...

You know this isn't the replacement for your 27" iMac, right?

I'm guessing the 30"+ model will be offered in "traditional" colors and will be more up your alley.
Are you sure? It kind of felt like they were trying to sell this as a higher-end machine than the 21”.

This new iMac starts at $1,300 and only has a 4.5K screen.

Your current iMac starts at $1,800 and has a 5K screen.

Yes... this new 24" iMac is much better than the 21.5" it's replacing... no argument there.

But this new 24" iMac is absolutely not a replacement for the current 27" iMac.

There will be another iMac model later this year... probably announced alongside the updated 16" MBP
