how can I send Apple feedback about putting that blue bar back in? I keep thinking web pages aren't loading because I'm so used to it and let's be honest, it's a Safari staple.
It's not a bug and that's the only feedback button Apple provides.
It's true, you only appreciate something when you don't have it anymore![]()
I miss the progress bar. In fact that alone may cause me to not use it.
I agree, this is one of Safari's totally unique and best features. It's still available in the beta VIA a hidden preference, just like the old tabs. Hope they don't get rid of it altogether. $ defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4IncludeToolbarRedesign -bool NO
$ defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4LoadProgressStyle -bool NO
Not sure where the blue progress bar went, Apple calls it out on Safari 4 Beta website.
How do I clear the safari search history?![]()

That's the history of sites visited, not the search history. You can clear the history on the coverflow page...it is a button on the bottom left.
yah, so much for "innovation" when most of them seems like "borrowed" from other browsers. of course,, apple never steals ideas from others, thus it's "borrowed".
Yes, you can. See this post:https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/7160625/
Has apple fixed any of the real issues with Safari, such as the fact that it crashes too often and when it does everything, all the pages and tabs, go down in a spectacular display of bad browser design?
Is it faster at all? More importantly, for heavy web users like me who tend to open many pages with many tabs and keeping them open for days does Safari become sluggish and eat up all of the systems memory and swap space, even after I have closed many of the open pages? I hate to be forced to close safari completely and open it again, sometimes loosing what was in many of the pages I was looking at because Safari doesn't remember all of them for some reason.
Better use of system memory, some proper garbage collection and one thread for each pane, so as to one crashing browser window does not crash whole of safari, is what Apple should be concentrating on.
thank you for that! The new Smart Address Field alone is worth the upgrade. It's a lot like Firefox's "Awesome bar", which is one of its best features.
New tab bar is..... interesting. Kind of hard to get used to. I miss "double click to create new tab" from Safari 3.
Top Sites is surprisingly cool. I could see myself using this.
Fast. A little buggy, since it's beta, but quite fast.
Native look and feel for Windows is very important. It was ridiculous to force a non-native appearance. Imagine if the situation were reversed - you wouldn't want a Mac browser that had Windows style scroll bars and widgets and everything.

I just installed the beta about 30 mins ago, liked the overall UI.. But had to un-install, at least until 1password comes out with an update.
