Yeah for sure. I don't doubt it. But I meant that, if it does get discontinued, it's kinda going to feel like the end of the road for existing owners who had hoped it would improve. But then again if Apple does stop selling it I can imagine it will fetch silly sums on the used market in years to come, so every cloud and all that...👍

If Apple turn off their servers there might be no way for a new user to set it up or load any apps or games onto it. So it would become worthless on the used markets.

I tried it here in Shanghai at an Audi event showcasing their history and the new Q6 EV and such and it was meh screen is good but lack of controllers really kills it. As a developer I will probably release one of my VR games on it if Apple pays enough but I can see why even rich people here do not want to buy it. Especially woman (who would get it as a gift in China) who hate their hair and make-up messed up by VR headsets like this especially during the sweaty summer season.
4210 USD vs $3499 in US
4420 USD vs $3699 in US
4630 USD vs $3899 in US
Higher price makes sense, we have a lot of rich people and the rest will not even consider buying it. I know someone who has a Tesla Cybertruck and can only drive it inside their compound as it is not road legal, but he wanted to show it off to his other rich friends.

The second version will come will air conditioning and minimal contact to face 😂

With the news coming out that they’re actively working on an M4/M5 version they’ve already alienated their remaining potential customers (such as myself) because this current iteration is far too expensive when it’s already obsolete behind closed doors. Like, why doesn’t this have Apple Intelligence yet? It has more than enough power.
Every launched product is obsolete "behind closed doors". This is how all hardware companies work. Products are planned a couple of generations ahead and you never get the latest one, which is currently being worked on. Which is also natural. M4 MacBooks are now obsolete, since I bet they've been working on M5 MacBook Pro for quite a while now.

Funny to see how all those people who say Apple fail to innovate are bashing them for an innovative yet not perfect product...

Wonder where Apple will go with this. The headset needs to become as thin & light as possible.

I'm surprised no VR manufacturer has moved the battery and as many other components as possible down to a waist pack that can be put into a pocket or hooked onto the waistband. May or may not appeal to the masses but we won't know until someone tries it. I suspect many VR users use it sitting down or on the sofa, and in that location a waist pack could go on the sofa or on the table.

Agreed. there are some other companies who have produced prototypes of what are just glasses with screens installed, some wit some projector technology / the same sort of heads up display you can get in cars.

I'm surprised apple went with cameras and video screens showing you the outside world.

If they had gone down the watch route, of something that can at least look cool/interesting, they'll get people wearing them if the price is right.

Having a HUD built into my glasses with (very) selective notifications, temperature, driving/walking directions and so on... that feels like a useful enough tool.

It's called "Pro" for a reason. Not intended for consumers. So maybe Apple is making the mistake of trying to sell directly to consumers instead of marketing to specific "professional" markets, such as doctors, engineers, etc.

By that logic, if Apple’s “Pro” devices are not intended for consumers, then where does that leave the iPhone 16 Pro? Are you suggesting that’s also not a consumer device? Don’t try to make such ridiculous arguments.

Requiring an appointment to even pick one up and put it on really turned me off from this product. Even though it was sitting idle at the time, you were not allowed to touch it.

They couldn't sell all their units in the US so launched in other nations to spread the sales out to avoid sending the glasses to landfill. Hopefully someone in the UAE/SK will buy one.

People in Dubai will buy a few dozen I'm sure as they generally have the funds. People in Korea are a lot more reserved and most likely had similar computer glasses for a number of years but Apple will likely face the same fate there as they have in other countries.

They are however running out of release countries where the regular salary/wage would be able to afford this.

These “it should be $500” comments really make me laugh. What can $500 buy these days? A 3 year old iPhone?

When you break it down - a base model 16” MacBook Pro costs $2499, the AVP has double chip sets (yes I know M2 vs M4, but still. The MBP was M2 at the point of announcement), R1, 16gb RAM, and two screens that are universally renowned as being one of the most technologically advanced displays in a consumer device.

This is a gen 1 product crammed with new tech. It’s Apple, it’s got its issues, but most of what it does it does remarkably well. Working hands free with infinite screens really is a game changer, for me anyway.

$500 will get you a crappy Windows laptop…
I think you missed the point, which was that these don’t offer enough value even at a ridiculously low price.

Wow, so many grumpy people here who can’t afford a Vision Pro! 😯
LOL. No we're grumpy because of the lack of content. I've spent more in the past on a car service. The AVP has way better visuals than rivals but mostly lame content.

The sad thing is that this is the product that Cook has been teasing as “great exciting things in the pipeline” for years. “Couldn’t be more excited”.

Unless he meant 16GB RAM and USB-C mouse
