Geez, not "The Pig" again. Look at him, his physical appearance is disgusting.

Please apple products are supposed to be too thin, not the people who run it. Steve making this mistake cost him six months at the helm of apple.

Good, at last we can see whether iPhone sales go really well without the appearance of Steve. But ,anyway ,come back soon , Jobs ,plz!!!!! We need you to fight back Zune HD and ZunePhone

I think people put way too much emphasis on how much one man affects the sales of a product. Regardless of whether or not Steve makes the next iPhone announcement it will sell just as well. You'd be surprised how many iPhone users have no clue who Steve Jobs even is.

The average consumer is not that well informed and despite what you may want to think, users of MacRumors would not fit in the category of "average" user particularly because you're scouring the web in search of new information, new product technology, etc. So don't associate all iPhone users with the people on this board. Another thing to consider: the average consumer greatly outnumbers the more informed consumer. Our numbers are small in bigger scheme of things.

The average consumer just waits to see a TV ad or hear about it from friends or will walk in to an AT&T store and ask the reps every damn day (trust me, I know this) and ask when the next iPhone is coming out.

Beyond that, though, it's smart business for Apple to not keep putting Steve Jobs in the spotlight because as we all know, anything negative related to Steve affects the company's stock because of how much emphasis the company puts on him. It's not in their best interest to keep him in the limelight when any day a news story about his health can change the stock ratings. They are just showing that regardless of whether or not he's "leading the way" the company will continue to run exactly the same regardless.

If Steve Jobs died tomorrow would you just stop buying Apple products or think less of them? I would hope not, as that would definitely shed a light of truth in regards to one of the Apple stigmas in a huge way (as we've seen in all the comedy sketches about Apple fans and how they follow Steve).

How healthy is Jobs??

I hear from a doctor friend that he and Farrah Fawcett has approximately the same life expectancy: 2 months

Has Jobs been seen in public since he announced his sabattical?????

Guys, let go of Steve, already. Really.

If Steve returns, great, if not, life goes on. Apple goes on.

It could be much worse, anyway (Ballmer.)

I agree - Apple has already done a great job getting the light off of Steve. When they introduce a product they focus on the designers, developers. It has given Mac more of a "family" company image than one of a sole icon.

Yeah me too. The keynote I watched with Schiller was so duuuullll then again all he had to work with was iWork/iLife. Hardly fun city.

Hopefully this keynote'll be more interesting.

You want excitement!! You want someone hopping around on stage like a dancing monkey? You want someone screaming until their voice cracks?

Uhhh...he's busy manning the phone; selling Zune music subscriptions to the lemmings.

I just want to see the new iPhone. My contract expires the end of June - like many, many others...

Uh-huh? And you have proof of this fact? I supposed he just decided to take a six-month vacation then? Face facts, he's extremely sick or he'd be speaking at WWDC. He had pancreatic cancer before and he has it now.

Either way, he just won approval to get that old house of his demolished. He's been fighting for that for some time now.

I have disability, but shockingly enough, I've found that I'm not immune to the common cold.
Plus he's due back at the end of June. WWDC is at the beginning of June. If WWDC was in July and he didn't present then I'd be worried.

Has everyone forgotten the presentation style of Jean-Louis Gassee? I liked that guy's stage presence!

Call me crazy but I was actually impressed by Schiller's presentation at the 2009 Macworld. WWDC will probably be just as good. However, I don't expect to see anyone announce a next generation iPhone since that seems to be Steve's baby.

Perhaps we will see another special event from Apple in July announcing the final iPhone OS 3.0 software and a new generation phone to be released in August. Remember, they said "Summer" so technically they have from June 21 -Sept. 22 to release the software (and device) without being late.

Of course the July announcement will be Steve's grand reappearance as master of ceremonies.

Well, that's a bit of a bummer if Steve isn't there in some way, shape or form. But hopefully the new products/news will outshine the presenter.

ya I see no new iphone as well. The first hour will be an entire repetition of the last keynote (3.0 preview) 15min of which would be how push works (again). The second hour will be of snow leopard.
First Shiller will tell us how swell the business is going.

Next Shiller will show and demo Snow Leopard, give everybody a CD of it, and show the surprising new UI improvements.

Then Forrestal will tell us about 3.0. But, he will cover the stuff we know quickly, and introduce the stuff that was not mentioned, like video recording... on the new model phone. Then he will explain the features of the new phone. Then it's thank you for coming.

But, a voice says, there is one more thing. Then Steve comes out and introduces the NetPad tablet. Like iPod Touch, just as thin, 3 times bigger, no 3G voice, but WiFi and 3G DATA. Sold to all comers, works on AT&T, Verizon etc. AT&T keeps the monopoly on iPhone and voice calls, while the NetPad can surf the Net anywhere (and do VOIP over WiFi only). Runs all App Store apps. Coming in Q3. Then Steve will announce his blood pressure and it's over.

That's why the announcement to developers that all apps require 3.0 compatibility. That's what the NetPad will run, and they need to make the key claim that all App Store apps will run on it.. And there will be WWDC sessions about it.

Yes, let's hear more from this "docter"... does anyone else he knows feel a bit poorly? Maybe the Pope has swine flu, or Lee Majors has toothache?

This Just In

Phil will introduce the new iPhone at WWDC.
Steve will return for a separate event at the end of June to introduce the tablet.

While there are certainly some long overdue features coming to the next iPhone, with several in line for the new device, physically it will not look much different than today's 3G. same face, same scratch-prone bevel (unfortunately) but they'll ditch the glossy plastic back in favor of a more rubberized case (think Incase's soft touch Slider).

The iPhone announcement is not big/flashy enough for Steve. But the tablet announcement will be huge. I also feel once the tablet is alive and in the world, Steve will step down at the end of the year.

Disagree, the iPhone is Steves baby. He wouldn't let anyone else introduce it.

My prediction (which is based on nothing but my imagination)?

Schiller: "Oh and one more thing"

*out walks a healthy Jobs with the new Apple iPad/iNewton/iPod Touch Jumbo
