New system font, a flatter and textureless design language, more translucency, and perhaps Stacks instead of folders?

How long before Samsung copies the Roman numeral styling?

Vote now:

(A) I minute
(B) III minutes
(C) V minutes
(D) X minutes

Mind you, we've had the Roman numeral X in OS X for ages.

Samsung Galaxy S III? S II? Note II? Copying has begun!

Yes but keep in mind that there were likely clues in the software that would have revealed them anyway. We know how Apple feels about someone else announcing things before they do. So some developer or blog with access finding a big of code that showed proof positive that something was changing in the displays or whatever and posting it would not be cool. So as I said, Apple tells first.

However there was nothing in the iOS that revealed anything about the new iPhone or iPads in such a way so they stayed mum. Even though WWDC was the 'traditional' venue for announcing new iPhones for a few years
I don't expect any iProducts at WWDC but it wouldn't shock me if we got a new MacPro or laptop refreshes. Not sure if Apple can do a full keynote with no new hardware, unless iOS and OS X are big updates that will steal the show. One couldc argue last year the rMBP stole the show at WWDC.

Interesting. Just a note that roman numerals are normally used when describing the year a movie or television show was produced.

the new logo is of course an iWatch exploding with color!

(nothing of interest to me though, Logic Pro X and a retina iPad mini is more what I would like in some distant future...)

Bet $1 same old iOS look, if they reveal it. Bet 5S is nothing more than 4S was to 4. Pffft. Stock is already at 400 from 700. Welcome to the day when Apple is no longer on top. Sad because the potential is there.

You sound so confident, why only betting $1?

This probably sounds stupid, but the logo for WWDC (which I love btw) gives off a much more 'up to date' and 'happy' Apple than the cold 'closed doors' aluminium colours. I've love to see a return to multiple coloured products (including macs!).

The font looks like Apple Gothic used on the iPhone 5 packaging.

I changed the system font to it when I was jailbroken using Springtomize and it looked superb.

I believe the typeface on the iPhone 5 box is Myriad Pro Light. The typeface on the WWDC poster is Helvetica Neue UltraLight.

With the news of Amazon might be offering a set top box this fall, this I started to believe even more that this logo has to do with the Apple TV.

Over $1500 for a ticket? Do they give out freebies like google to make it worthy to buy? If not, what's the point?

From the Logo, I'd say that we can expect:

  • Live Tiles (Active icons with information)
  • Themeing support (stealing from the JB community, again) in iOS7.
  • Flatlook icons that waggle (slowly) when they have a notification.
  • Multilple Tile sizes support.
  • More than 10 pages of icons.

I really like the logo :)

I wish it wasn't so incredibly expensive though :( Glad the videos are there but it would have been fun to go to combine it with a holiday and go there, watch the keynote in real life for once, etc.. But for a free app
dev it's simply not doable.

Apple has already cut the prices of their dev programs (used to be $500/year!), free videos etc so I was hoping they'd cut the price of actual attendance as well. But I guess they don't have to if it sells out in 2 hours. Good that there's still so much interest though at a time when tradeshows and conferences are becoming extinct.

I hope they don't go for the 'square blocks and prime colours' design language though with the new OS'es, like Windows Mobile and Android have, it's so boring... I'd be glad to see the end of the fake leather but I like the plasticyness of the OS.

WWDC 2013 Logo

As per usual WWDC is announced and our expectation knob is turned up to 11!

But never have I seen so much chat about the logo itself. It caught my eye for the simple fact that the Apple isn't there.

A new design philosophy? Cleaner, more simple, bold new colours/direction?

Could be...could be not.

It just goes to show that we've all been so starved of any real product excitement for quite a while now.

And so, my customary reminder... We all want the guys in Cupertino to blow us away with wonderful stuff. To raise the bar till it's once again five years ahead of the competition. Some will get what they desire, others will be disappointed. It's the same every year.

No other brand in the tech world inspires such emotion, devotion, love, loathing, envy and hatred.

For making us feel connected to it and to the community around it that's Apple's ultimate power. I'm just glad I'm along for the ride!

Ugh....I assume you're not a developer. Its supposed to be a DEVELOPER CONFERENCE. And seeing how it sells out in hours, I'm guessing there's a lot of DEVELOPERS who see a point in going to an Apple DEVELOPER CONFERENCE. Developers from all over the world come to WWDC.

In case you couldn't tell, what I'm trying to say is that its a DEVELOPER CONFERENCE intended for DEVELOPERS who want the hands-on labs, interacting with Apple engineers and other devs in the communities, and all the other activities that happen at WWDC. A lot of stuff goes on at WWDC, its a week long event.

WWDC in the year 2600 will be even cooler in design.

If I did this correctly:

WWDC
MMDC

Just a straight flip.
