That satisfies me all the same! I can't wait to see what they do with iOS 7. If they iPhone 5S is expected to be released in July, when can we expect to see an event for that?

The iPhone 5S is only expected by analysts that need something to talk about. In a few weeks they will start rumors of production issues delaying release to the Fall when it was always going to be.

Apple needs to wake up out of its slumber. iOS 7 needs to be a significant update that provides a more fluid and dynamic user experience.

Comparing my wife's iPhone 5 with my Droid DNA is like comparing two devices from two entirely different generations. It is shocking how rigid, clumsy, and outdated the iPhone has become.

I own iPods, iPads, and use a 15" MBPr. I want to move entirely to an Apple ecosystem but just can't do it until Apple catches up with Android and offers a premium device with a 4.5"+ screen and an operating system that looks like it was designed this decade.

The news that Apple has resorted to offering a DOWNscale, cheaper iPhone tells me that Apple is afraid of going head-to-head with Samsung and instead is going after the cheap, throw-away market to expand their market share. This is a highly unprofitable market and BAD NEWS for Apple stockholders.

I like a smaller device like an iPhone, since it is supposed to be portable. I don't want a big device in my pocket. I also like the fact that iOS is easy to navigate, and I can get to all the settings I need to get to in a couple of taps. So, the Droid and Android OS are for people like you, and the iPhone and iOS are for people like me. I really don't like the Android UI on my Nexus 7, but that's just my taste. It is nice there are options, right?

Perhaps all of the colors are referring to colored iPhones? I recall seeing an article earlier about a plastic back for a cheaper iPhone. It'd make sense that if they made a polycarbonate iPhone, it'd be available in colors, just like the iPods have been for years.

Just my two cents.

But they announced rMBP and updates to other Macs there last year.

Yes but keep in mind that there were likely clues in the software that would have revealed them anyway. We know how Apple feels about someone else announcing things before they do. So some developer or blog with access finding a big of code that showed proof positive that something was changing in the displays or whatever and posting it would not be cool. So as I said, Apple tells first.

However there was nothing in the iOS that revealed anything about the new iPhone or iPads in such a way so they stayed mum. Even though WWDC was the 'traditional' venue for announcing new iPhones for a few years

How long before Samsung copies the Roman numeral styling?

Vote now:

(A) I minute
(B) III minutes
(C) V minutes
(D) X minutes

Mind you, we've had the Roman numeral X in OS X for ages.

Bet $1 same old iOS look, if they reveal it. Bet 5S is nothing more than 4S was to 4. Pffft. Stock is already at 400 from 700. Welcome to the day when Apple is no longer on top. Sad because the potential is there.

The Roman numerals tell me that the next version of iOS is not going to be called iOS 7 but instead iOS Ive.

IV = 4 in Roman numerals.
e = 2.71828...[mathematical constant for base of the natural logarithm]

4 + 2.72 = 6.72 which rounds up to 7.

I'll throw my hat in the ring and guess Apple is going to open up the App Store to the Apple TV. If Apple is going to introduce an AppleTV-ish product, developers will need a head start and now is the time.

iOS to have a new font? Or at least font weight?

The logo's "WWDC MMXIII" part doesn't use Myriad as in previous years, nor is it the Helvetica weight in iOS products. It looks like Helvetica Ultra Light.

Does this mean iOS's Helvetica to change weights?

Logic Pro X + Mac Pro. Thats all I'm asking. HOW FREAKING HARD CAN IT BE???

Europe can't buy the overpriced Mac Pro for 2 months now!!!

Its just sad and not PRO at all.

Btw.. Thanks Apple for building desktops and laptops which nobody can repair. Apple since 2011 = Pathetic.

someone post up last year's logo for comparison. At least then we'll know whether to get out hopes up.

Note the translucent colors on the mockup. Looks like this isn't that much off after all:

I really wish they had smaller regional versions of WWDC. Maybe one in Europe and one in Asia. Attending WWDC is just too expensive for many small independent developers given the cost of the tickets, flights, hotels, etc.

What's funny is that we're all astounded by the new logo. lol You have done it again Apple. :D

Amazing! ;)
