I'll be happy when a dark mode arrives so we can finally stop hearing people complain about it not being there, or being skeptical of its possible arrival.

It's become the new 'is safari snappier?' battle-cry.

COME ON NOW... you know once it happens the argument won't go away, it'll change to HOW THEY DON'T LIKE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF IT.

I just want to add that this is the most (actually the only) 3D looking thing they have done in years. It is also the best looking/most original WWDC banner they’ve done in years. Funny that.

perhaps AR apps can now render and allows interaction with the standard UI elements in 3 space? Like putting a slider on your table top and then projecting your emails onto it?

We still don't have all the features announced at the last WWDC! Where's iMessage cloud sync?

Well. We got the “2 year cycle” everybody was wishing for and this is one of the results. I am glad that they take their time with this one.

So Craig Federighi will go crazy and boast about most advanced operating systems while completely forgetting the bugs and the mess the current iOS and macOS have become...

This is as skeuomorphic as anything Forstall's ever done. Just using different materials:

Looks awesome – skeuormophism is back, baby! ;)

This teaser had nothing to do with skeuomorphism. 3D is not skeuomorphism, it's just.... 3D. It has more depth and shadow than we have right now. That's it.

Skeuomorphism is where an object in software mimics its real world counterpart. On the early versions of iOS the Contacts app that looked like a phone book, the Voice Memos app that looked like a microphone, the Game Center App that looked like a casino table, etc. are some nice examples.

Maybe 3D ui experience with face id to locate your eyes and create stereoscopic effect

To be fair to the dark mode people, now that there's an iPhone shipping with an OLED screen that could see dramatic boosts to battery life by embracing "true" blacks in the UI, their clamoring is more justified than ever.

I'd say this invitation is more inscrutable than the usual, if you'tr in the "reading tea leaves" business :)
