This. SMS Relay and iCloud Drive don't really work without Yosemite anyways so why would they release them now? "Here's a feature that you can use if your're a developer or beta tester." Better to highlight them with the release of Yosemite next month.

SMS relay would work with iPad....

i opened a bug with myfitnesspal but maybe it was Apple's fault. Something I logged as 470 calories in their app showed up as .47 calories in Health.

Sounds like the ****ed up the units. 1 "Food" Calories (energy to heat 1kg of water) = 1000 calories.

Usually "Food" calories are with big "C" and the SI standard calories is with little "c".

icloud drive= NOT READY
icloud photo library= NOT READY
SMS relay= NOT READY
photos for OS X= NOT READY
Health Kit= NOT READY

If major features aren't available at launch, they should have just pushed the launch back or not included them till a 8.1 update.

I would say this is Apple's sloppiest release to date. Bit off more than they can chew

It certainly hasn't been graceful, but it makes sense to hold these things back until they're really ready. They are cornerstones of Apple's services going forward - they need to be right. Releasing them half-baked is 10x worse than what they're doing here.

Lest we forget the Maps launch.

Complaining about the SMS relay "delay" is dumb as obviously it is a feature that requires Yosemite which is not available at this time.
It does? I thought it worked between iPhone and iPad too, without needing a Mac at all. Is that not accurate?

Do we want another Windows Vista flop? not really!

So...what's new since iOS7 then? No Healthkit, no extensions, no continuity (because we don't have yosemite yet, + SMS relay delayed), no iCloud drive, still no keyboards on the App Store. I mean, is there anything at all I can play with if I download this release now?

Extensions work.

Keyboards will probably be out today. They likely had to delay their launch until after iOS8 was released.

I agree, but these are major features that were supposed to be ready. Just saying its not Apple's finest hour.

Also iOS 8 makes the iPad air interface feel like its and iPad 2 or something. Stutters all over the place....and yes this is after a week of using it from a clean restore.

Am i misunderstanding the problem... Are they pulling their own health app? HealthKit completely or are they ONLY pulling the 3rd party apps that have been developed for HealthKit? And have they said WHY they're being pulled?

3rd party only. No, they haven't said why. MyFitnessPal seems to work just fine for me with HealthKit integration (I snagged it around 8AM CST this morning).

I wonder if this is going to be a Push thing, which got pulled right before launch and didn't make it's debut for a whole year later.

Whew that was a close one, glad they yanked it, can't wait to be seen running around my neighborhood with the 6+ sticking half way out of my fanny pack...

JK. I actually did get the 6+ and really don't feel that my decision making for ios8 hinges on health kit. SMS relay is awesome and I'm sad it won't be there right away but truly that will seem more useful once Yosemite is released and iCloud drive, I'm sure for some that's a bummer but dropbox, copy, and google drive work more than sufficiently for me.

Friday can't come soon enough, I very well might tackle the Fed Ex guy.

:D

Yeah, i notice something wrong with it. absoutly no instructions lmao. How in the hell do you even set everything up and put data into it and such, got my height age and weight, but its like... idk what to do with it lol.

Pretty evident...

Botched iPhone 6 release.

Botched iOS 8 release.

Botched iCloud drive release.

Etc...
