I have Apple One since it was worth the extra $5/month 'just in case' there was something interesting to the family on the other services (ATV+ primarily) versus subscribing to Apple Music Family and 2TB of iCloud storage ala carte. I subscribed to Arcade when it launched, but never found a game that I was interested in playing for longer than it took to download and install it.

I don’t see what new stuff needs to be added on a continual basis. There’s a lot there. I’m enjoying what I’m enjoying and haven’t noticed/cared that new things haven’t been added yet.

Compare with equivalent services. PS Plus adds 3 games per month guaranteed and costs ~$50 a year.

Apple is also charging ~$50/year but apparently with no expectation that the service will actually provide ongoing benefits.

If Apple is willing to go multiple months without new content then what's the point of having an ongoing monthly charge instead of just buying the specific games you're interested in?

Imagine Netflix saying "yeah we're not bothering with any new content for the next few months but keep paying the same price suckers..."

Beside the fact that most of those games are not fun (but this is a personal opinion) I believe the main reason is that people (and when I say people I'm not only talking about the ones living in the USA) are fed up with subscriptions. This new "trend" of this new disguised socialism wants you to rent anything and own nothing, but, fortunately, someone is understanding what's happening here.

Long live Steam!

It had some promise at first, I actually signed up just to play the exclusive Bleak Sword (still best game on Apple Arcade imo), but after that couldn’t really find much else worth playing.

I used to think the idea of Apple having a game studio was ridiculous, but it seems they’re not getting much developer support… So maybe it’s a necessary step in building up the service after all?

I play a few games from the App Store (usually the free ones..but those insipid annoying ads!! ugh. - * I get it, how the dev makes $)

Did the free trial Apple Arcade after getting the 12 Pro Max, I simply wasn't impressed. Not something I wanted to pay per month, that's for sure.

I’ve been using Macs since the 80s. You are out of your mind if you expect apple ? to put out worthwhile video games. They have never understood that business.

I took one look at the iPhone and realized it was world changing. I looked at Apple Arcade and predicted it to close in one year.

This is not really good news regarding the service. Maybe it is not that profitable after all.

Some titles have already left. Honestly, of all of Apple services the only one worthy is Music. I have iCloud only because of the integration with the ecosystem, but it is so clunky and lacks basic features.

I took one look at the iPhone and realized it was world changing. I looked at Apple Arcade and predicted it to close in one year.

And Apple is showing desperation too:

1) For all their narrative they have gotten quite intrusive in their promotion of Arcade, I get emails asking me to join with no unsubscribe option, that is junk email if it was coming from someone else.

2) I also get it at the top of the Settings App… I have pressed NO several times, why do they insist?

3) They redesigned the App Store app to promote Arcade in a better position, now your apps list and updates reside within your profile, you have to click twice and scroll to get there, before they were right in the main functionality of the app.

There is nothing there to catch your attention. Where are the FPS or 3rd person shooters with controller support? Those are what can show off what Apple Arcade can provide. Rehashing old games isn't cutting it. However there is a cost associated with big games that some companies may not be willing to do since the return may not be there without enough recurring income.

Does the Arcade have any retro releases - as in official versions of arcade classics from the 70s and 80s that crucially look and sound like the originals?

I'd love a MAME style set of games but have no interest in modern gaming. I suppose I could go down the Retro-Pi route but that seems an awful lot of fuss.

I just signed up last week (free year from Verizon). It’s a barren wasteland. There’s really nothing there.
I just finish mine, and yes they're not all for me, but to my taste he have a least 10 great games, I finish only 2 but nice time.

So much hate on Apple Arcade, why? It's a quality service, and the perfect antidote to how mobile gaming was going (pay to win mechanics). I've enjoyed games like Grindstone, A Monster's Journey, The Last Campfire, and most recently Fantasian, which is a fully fledged, albeit unfinished, JRPG in the style of Final Fantasy 7.

I have Apple One subscription, but I haven't found a single game worth playing from the Apple Arcade. Most of them are just cute graphics with nothing much going on.
Mini Motorways! It’s a nice relaxing game that becomes challenging the further you progress. There’s no unlocking stuff or weird storyline either, so it’s excellent for literally any age and commitment level. Like 2048, but less math and more relaxing sounds
