Hmm iTunes hangs? Since updating my Apple TV to version 3.0/3.0.1 I regularly either have to restart iTunes on my iMac (most common fix), restart the Apple TV by pulling the plug and reconnecting it, or once I had to reboot my wireless router after the above two "fixes" didn't work. My guess is it's an iTunes streaming problem but there are dozens of people with similar experiences over at the Apple Discussion forums.

I have had similar problems when adding content to my TimeCapsule and into iTunes and my Apple TV. It just seems a little buggy. Apple TV also does weird things when streaming, especially watching trailers. They take WAY LONGER and reload a bunch of times while watching for no reason.

Also, everyone remember that whole COMPLETELY REWRITTEN Finder and how FAST it was supposed to be? Why is it the when I start up my MacBook Pro and open the Finder the first time, it literally takes like 5-8 seconds just to load the application icons in column view??? It never had that problem before it was rewritten lol! Am I the only one??? Take a look at that Apple!

Safari!!!

My biggest issue! Safari, hangs, slows down, crashes.
I even downloaded click2flash to make sure it wasn't the plug-in, but still it sux. Hope they fix it. i don't have any other major issues.

I have had problems in 10.6.2 in Mail checking the AOL imap server. This is a major issue. I am not a listed bugfixer so the only interaction I have had with Apple on this is via Applecare.

As always I strongly suggest NOT adopting 10.6 on a production or primary machine until it gets to 10.6.3, and even then listen for bad noises first.

It seems the Grandma version will not be till 10.6.4. Pretty sad for an OS major version where the primary driver was stability not features.

I hate 10.5, although 10.5.8 is at least somewhat stable finally. I love 10.4.11, and 9.2.2. :D And 4.2 on a RAMDISC based Mac+ :D :D

me too. I gave up on c2f since it wasn't really helping.

Yeah, in here safari as well and the hiding dock issue. Whatever, if they won't repair the safari, I'm changing to chrome when the stable version comes out!

Well, you can give feedback on OS X here:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

Better yet, it only takes two minutes and zero dollars to sign up for an ADC account.
http://developer.apple.com/products/membership.html

Then another five minutes to write up a bug report:
https://bugreport.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/RadarWeb.woa/wa/signIn

If the issue matters to you, you should present it directly to Apple Engineering.

Word surfaced nearly a month ago that a 10.6.3 beta release was imminent, but Apple apparently decided not to push any testing versions to developers until after the holidays.

Or did they want to include support for Arrandale MBPs in 10.6.3 rather than release another update early 2010?

How about Firewire issues??

I, and many video users (including professionals) would like to know when the sluggish Firewire issues with SL will be addressed. I have had to downgrade to 10.5.8 to be able to carry on with my work. My FW400 Hard Drives are very slow in SL, and my analogue to DV Canopus box only works when directly connected to my MacBook Pro, which with only one FW400 port sort of scuppers use with an external drive anyway.
Please Apple, sort it out.

Well at least one of my current problems with 10.6.2 is still going to be a problem, application updating. I have installed office 2008 and I cannot get it to install it's first update, always fails. My other problem is printing doesn't work any more, I just get jobs stuck in the queue with the message "waiting for printer to become available" and they never print. Here's hoping something in this update fixes that pita.

I really hope they actually make the Finder properly multithreaded. I've got five hard drives other than my SSD boot drive in my Mac Pro. Every time I access something that needs to open the Finder such as a "Save as" dialogue, I have to wait as Finder spins up the first hard drive... waits for it to read... then spins up the second hard drive... waits for it to read... etc etc. Waiting about half a minute every time for things like that when the sensible thing would have been to have all drives spin up at once can get mighty grating.

Why don't you give them your feedback, AppleCare is not the only route for end users

Lovely.
Hope this one will bring TRIM support.
We've waited long enough.

The only issues I'm still having are:

1. Spaces will randomly make the keyboard stop working
2. Safari stability issues
3. Automatic Computer sleep does not work

is it too much to hope one of the updates might be around SSD optimization in OS X?
What optimization are you hoping for? TRIM isn't important as it would be last year. Internal garbage collection has become pretty damn good lately. SSD optimizations probably will not come until the next file system upgrade which probably will come in OS X 11.

Finder is multithreaded already, but I think that slow ass Save as Dialog is a bug, not because of Finder's multithreading capability. It's a bug that showed up in 10.6.1 for me, got better in 10.6.2 but not fully fixed.

Lovely.

I don't think they'll enable TRIM in any of the minor updates. Secondly, good SSDs are coming out with excellent garbage collection that does a good job of cleaning up after itself and restoring performance to the point that TRIM is not that important anymore.

I am pretty sure Apple isn't going to put iSlate in this version if the actual product won't be shipping till March.

Won't stop people from looking. Some people just have too much time on their hands. I was actually joking but unfortunately, I think people are just going to look anyway.

As for March date, that's still a rumor. They could push it to June/July or Sept for all we know.

I've seen one or two SSD's with internal garbage collection, but don't remember being overwhelmed by them. Isn't it only on Samsung controllers right now? Ideally, I'm looking at either a X-25 G2 160GB, or the soon to be released Vertex2 or Crucial C300. I don't think any of them feature garbage collection. And yea, I pretty much meant TRIM support, or really any acknowledgment in OS X that SSD's are different than hard disks, even if was as simple as providing an auto update to settings, i.e. disable sudden motion sensor, spotlight, etc.

When I use "Better Battery Life" in System Preferences > Energy Saver > Graphics, everything is fine. However, if I set that option to "Better Performance", my system just keeps crashing (rebooting on its own, freezing forever, kernel panics, and so on) regularly.

Sounds like your 9600M GPU is toast. The "Better Battery Life" setting uses the 9400M integrated GPU.

The 8600M and 9600M have known design flaws. Apple acknowledges this, and independent analysts have used electron microscopes to view the problem on the Unibody MacBook Pros.

The experts over at Notebook Review would disagree with you.

Garbage Collection has gotten really good, but TRIM is still superior.

Looking forward to this update. Hopefully some speed improvements/Easter eggs. :p And of course, hopefully it'll clear up my few remaining bugs.
