Failed to verify my identity 3 times... I have great credit and zero debt. Now it’s under review. Shouldn’t be an issue as long as they confirm I’m really me.

I added the card fine on my iPhone.

But on my wife’s iPhone, the process timed out at the last step where it tried to add the card to her Wallet (it literally threw up a timeout message after spinning for a long time). So now she has received the confirmation emails about the successful signup and the physical card being mailed out, BUT the digital card is not listed in her Wallet!

How to fix?

You make over $200,000 per year yet need credit card debt?

It isn't credit card debt if you pay it off every month. Lots of benefits to that:

1) You get the rewards
2) A 3rd party takes the interim hit if fraudulent activity occurs
3) Often other benefits: purchase protection, automatic extended warranty, travel benefits, etc

If you aren't using a rewards credit card you just aren't utilizing our financial system to your own best benefit.

Exactly. I wouldn't get the card for the debt, I would get it for the rewards and tracking. And even though I plan not to have any debt on the card, I'm not signing up for a 24% APR, when I can get better benefits elsewhere for 13%.

Dieter Bohn at The Verge felt the need to send out a PSA tweet that Apple Card wasn’t some new cool piece of tech it was a credit card. Why do tech writers treat people like they’re idiots?
Because when it comes to money a lot of people are idiots unfortunately. Look at this thread. People whining about APR....when the whole point is to REAP REWARDS and NOT pay interest. If you plan on carrying a balance on a credit card month after month then you shouldn't have one in the first place.

40 percent of Americans don't have enough money to cover an unexpected $400 expense.
60 percent couldn't afford n unexpected $1000 expense.

Meanwhile the average income in the US is about $60,000/year. Clearly people cant do basic budgeting. Its just a sad fact. 60K! and thety cant tuck away a few hundred extra! But they sure have a giant SUV in the driveway to stuff all the garbage they buy into it. ;)

So yes Dieter is doing people a favor by making that statement.

P.S. Your average person is only moderately adept at using an iPhone. I show people things all the time like control center (which has been around for 6 years) and they never knew it existed.

People are basic.

So I tried out apple pay with it this afternoon. I used it twice, but small amounts...one for $20 and one for about $5. I do really like the interface. Additionally, it not only knew exactly which Duane Reade I was at, but it also showed the location and the picture of the outside of the store (the actual picture, not just a picture of a random Duane Reade). My only concern at this point is that I don't see the cash back rewards showing up. There is a little 2% sign on each of the posted charges but I'm not seeing any actual cash back. It still says $0.00.

I’ve had my card for a bit over a week and can tell you that the “Daily Cash” is a bit of a misnomer. You should note below the 2% sign the word “pending,” when that clears you get your “Daily Cash.” Most of the time it happens within a few minutes, or an hour or two, but I’ve had it take up to 24 hours.

Think it’s lame that doesn’t include extended warranty protection like most CC.
Mostly not too take away from AppleCare purchases I’m guessing. So not so much give rip about all other customers purchases other then their own.

no dice. I also tried the link above, and took me to the wallet app with the apple card when I clicked continue, I got a notification that Apple card is not supported in my region, but I am in the US.

Check the region setting for your Apple ID and make sure that is set to US.

The card and program are new, more bonuses and rewards most likely will be added. Just this morning Apple announced that you will receive 3% Dailey Cash when you use your card with Uber and Uber Eats. Apple seems to start small and then add to their programs.

Today, Apple extended the 3% cashback offer to third-party merchants too, starting with Uber and Uber Eats. Whilst any Apple purchase qualifies for 3% Daily Cash, Apple Card customers must use Apple Pay with Uber and Uber Eats to get the 3% reward.

The company said it will add more popular merchants to the 3% cashback tier in the coming months. (And the small print says that merchant offers are subject to change at any time.)”

What a great Twitter account. :D

haha

Thanks for making my day.

Practically the same thing happened to me. I tried chatting and was told to keep trying. After my 5th attempt I called Apple and she told me to make sure everything in the app exactly matched my ID. I said my ID has my middle name so she said to add that after my first name. That attempt just told me I could not be approved. When I read the e-mail to her she reached out and told me I have to wait no less than 48 hours and I can try again.
My driver's licence is also one of the Enhanced ones. Maybe that's the issue.
I'd call Apple if I were you.
Yeah, I called Apple again and they told me there’s nothing more they can do since it’s with Goldman Sachs and the Goldman Sachs rep shouldn’t have advised me to keep retrying. Basically, I’m SOL until next month when I can try again. It’s worth noting though that they have NO process for an agent to manually verify the info/screenshot of the ID.

I have an enhanced ID and it worked - although it took several attempts.

For what state and how recently was it issued? I have a Washington state one issued last year with a newer design than the previous EDL. (I have had an EDL since 2011)

Here is what I really like about Apple Card
1. Transaction notifications are real time, unlike my bank’s app. Better security.
2. Very few steps to pay the bill compared to the 10 steps in my bank’s app. (I pay the balance daily to maintain what I call ‘consciousness of spending’.)
3. Spending tracking is good enough that I’m seriously considering not bothering to use my current app.
4. It’s super easy to lock the physical card and then unlock it just before you have to use the card because Apple Pay isn’t available. It’s so many steps on my bank app to do this I don’t bother. I accept the hassle of my card getting skimmed once or twice a year while swiping at a fueling station. I have one card just for swiping. Now I’m thinking about using Apple Card for swiping.
5. The daily cash is better than my bank’s 1% rewards delivered monthly. You also get 3% Daily Cash on Apple Services like music, books, apps.

I’ve stopped using my bank credit cards.

I’m so impressed that I wrote Apple requesting Apple Cash replace my checkbook by adding a debit card, direct deposit, and checks for the one biller I can’t get to switch to ACH withdrawals. I should have the same benefits with with checking that Imdo with Apple Card.

I stopped using my Wells Fargo Debit Card when I got the Apple Card. I use the Apple Card for the daily purchases, etc that I typically swipe the debit card for and that I do not typically use one of my actual credit cards on. I enjoy getting the cash back that I wouldnt be getting back on my Debit Card. In 2 weeks I already have almost $20 cash back on the Apple Cash Card. I figure I will let it build up till holiday next year when the PS5 comes out, and I will have the cash just waiting :)

I'm sorry you've been lied to your entire life up until this point....

If you pay off your card monthly, credit card companies literally pay you to use their card.

Yup.... My Delta AMEX has literally paid me to fly to Asia and Europe and I basically get upgraded to first class every time I buy a economy ticket.... So spend and pay it off every month and the perks are crazy good for certain credit cards.

Failed to verify my scanned photo ID 5 times. Now it’s under review. Support told me I should get the result within 30 days. Un-f******-believable.

So much for “instant decision.”

Yeah, it’s absolutely awful! I have a feeling this will be a HUGE problem if it affects as many people as I’m seeing on Twitter.

Mine failed the first time, but succeeded when I put it on top a plain black cloth I had lying around.

Idk if anyone else has had this happen. But upon approval I had 5k @ 23.99 under card details it is 5k @ 12.99. Has anyone else seen this anomaly. Not sure how to confirm which rate it actually is at.
