I tried to pay for some food an hour ago with ApplePay and it got declined. I wonder if the whole thing is jammed up.I actually have an invite and it doesn’t even work so I feel your pain.

Nope, we have no idea on how they are choosing. Maybe it goes by number of ApplePay transactions, or maybe it's random?
I believe Apple said “random selection”.
I've actually been afraid to put my email in again, ya know in case I messed up the spelling the first time, in the event that it would move me back.
Perhaps these are the reasons the doctors keep giving me anxiety meds.
I signed up at least 3 times for notifications, one as late as yesterday, and I still got in today. So, it won’t move you back in line.
In terms of why I was chosen? Probably luck, but here are factors that may play into it:
I use Apple Pay a lot. I had Apple Cash setup. I’m not using the betas, but I am signed up for the program. I’ve had my Apple ID since iCloud came out.
Just to show how misinformed people can be about credit, someone told me to pay off only the statement balance, as paying off the current balance will result in you "not actually using credit", and thus no score increases.
Your post is incredibly helpful, I now plan on doing the same thing. I usually just paid the statement balance at the end of each cycle. At least I've never paid interest I guess.
Similar to the original poster, I essentially pay off my cards weekly. I have 3 cards and use them all to keep them active. However, my statement balances are typically $0 because they are usually paid off before the statement hits. It doesn’t seem to have any affect on my credit score. My score has been well into the 800’s for years. My score (FICO 8) actually hits the “holy grail” of 850 sometimes.

I pay off my 3 cards semi monthly (every payday) and typically have a $0 balance.
My FICO score is 850 right now and is at 820 on Transunion...and I haven't gotten an invite.
Guess that I will just have to wait until after the 15th to apply for the card...dammit!

thats BS - no way the dude from the verge and most other outlets were part of this “random selection”
Well i would assume that Apple would have media ppl get early access. Kind of like testing out a new iphone before it comes out. How else would they review it otherwise?thats BS - no way the dude from the verge and most other outlets were part of this “random selection”
Someone named Sam C on Twitter appears to be the first regular user to get an invite.

Everyone says it is random. And i am sure that is the official tagline from Apple. But i am sure there is a method to this. Like i think they can see what devices your Apple id is tied to. And wanting certain users to test it on those devices before others. Or maybe they can see who uses Apple pay more often. And who doesn’t. But i don’t believe it is truly random. I am sure Apple has a method to their madness.I believe Apple said “random selection”.
hey thats me lol

720 Credit, No Thanks
At least you got an invite I did not get one at all lol. Nj here tooI got approved. $6500 limit, 17.99% APR (too high imo), and they pulled transunion. Score in high 700s.

I’d do it for the 6k increase on my credit ♂️ Especially if they’re somehow not doing hard checks.
Hard Check is done once you accept the offer
Any luck yet? Still nothing for me.Hard Check is done once you accept the offer
