I can't believe there's still people whining about the headphone jack, move on.

I'm in the EXACT same boat. I don't feel like I'm missing anything with my 2014 Iphone 6 Plus versus the current models.
I do feel my iPhone 6 has got (on occasion) more sluggish over the years, nothing really to warrant an upgrade though. Has iOS upgrades slowed down the iPhone 6?

For me, this last year I planned to upgrade my phone, my iPad, and my Macbook Pro, and instead I'm in a holding pattern.

The MacBook Pro's specs were hardly better than my ~5 year old MacBook and I rely on my SD card reader. That said, I was actually excited about and tempted by the choice to go all in with USB-C. And to me, they were pretty clearly a USB-C ("one cord to rule them all") future.

In fact, I was ready to upgrade my iPhone in December/January, but after the MacBook Pro releases felt I could and should wait a year so I wasn't stuck with a legacy lightning connector as I anticipate all my other purchases in the next 2-3 years would charge via USB-C. If they stick with Lightning as they did with the iPad Pro for this year's phone, I honestly don't know what I'll do.

The iPad Pro decision to stick with lightning rather than USB-C was the main reason I didn't upgrade from my iPad Air, and, together with the Macbook Pro, it really made me question what Apple's plans were, or whether they have a cohesive plan. Disappointed, I bought an Android 10" USB-C, which is fine. It's not like my old iPad stopped working, and I'm hopeful enough (and the Android was inexpensive enough) to keep an eye on what the next generation iPad Pro holds.

There isn't much Apple could have done with the MacBook Pro in this case. Intel has been resting on their laurels for years so you won't see great improvement in performance. Only way for Apple to do anything about this is to bring macOS over to ARM and use their own chips. But that would require a complete re-write of the kernel, a move away from Darwin and a whole lot of wuz and without anything really pushing the requirements of better performance on notebooks I see no reason why Apple would invest in this. They would also have to take resources away from their great SoC team and make them create something powerful that would fit the Mac instead of them focusing on the SoC's for iPhone's.

Apple has been pushing the hardware in Mac's where they can. They use great NAND chips and have spent a lot of time and money on developing their very own NAND controllers to get great flash storage. They have always worked closely with Intel on Thunderbolt etc..

iPad is a mixed back. Sales are dropping, mostly because it's a secondary devices so people feel no urge for upgrading it on a regular basis. It's also so powerful to begin with so people are more than happy with what they currently have so newer models doesn't offer much value for them. And a lot people got caught by the hype and replaced their notebooks with tablets only to figure out they prefer notebooks in the long run.

The only think Apple can do to improve the iPad is giving it a better SoC (nobody cares), move to OLED (not many will care) and decrease the bezels (again, who cares if they already have a working iPad already?).

Just give us a new iPhone SE.

Or simply return to the perfect size between 3,5" and 4" !

Enough of those huge sucksung-like iPhablets!:mad::mad:

When you are in the minority, you tend to be left out. That's how it works. The market is seeing a clear shift and trend towards larger phones. You should feel lucky that Apple at least keeps decently update 4.0-inch device around. They are pretty much the only ones who do.

Dear Tim,

Can Apple please launch a new MacBook Pro ? Not just with a gimmicky Toolbar, but with real improvements - such as 32GB of RAM or even 64 ? And how about a 3 or 4 TB SSD storage that doesn't cost thousands extra ? My late 2013 16/1 was top of the line when I bought it and it still is. It's getting old and slow and can't process 4K video editing. Please, by 3Q 17 or sooner.

Thank You.

Apple was the benefactor of Samsung's missteps with its horrific battery problem, now that Samsung has moved on and has created a great S8 phone, I'm not so sure. Apple has saturated the market, and the phones are so expensive its hard to justify buying new phones annually.

While I do think the iPhone 8 will be a winner, I'm not sure it will turn things around, and if apple doesn't include features that have long been in android phones, then all bets are off.
Turn things around? You are really talking like a market analyst.
Apple had 1 supercycle in 2014 with the iphone 6 and 6+, because of this supercycle all analysts hav gone crazy. It was impossible for apple to follow up. It was a catch up to bigger screen iphones. In 2014/2015 apple' s sales went up with 50%. And now everyone is calling this the end of apple if they don' t best those numbers. A quarter ago apple sold a record number of iphones and now they are lost and have to turn things around?

Apple competitors actually lost, with apple selling the same design 3 years they should have caught up, and they didn' t. And now it seems there will be an oled iphone with a new design, wireless charging, etc .
The question is not IF apple will have another supercycle for the next 2 years. The question is if apple will have enough stock of these iphones to allow it to be another supercycle...

All these years(iphone 5/5s days) people have continued to forsee the doom of apple, and they have always been wrong. And now apple has been building up other revenue streams to make them less dependant on iphone sales alone and they are doing this quite nicely. So to write apple off, because of the lack of an headphone jack...no.
This is a transistional iphone, customers have to get used to the idea, headphone manufacturers have to adjust and all will be good.

Day after day I'm feeling that Timmy has to go home

Why? Over the las two quarters (six months) Apple has manufactured, tested, and delivered to customers 129 million iPhones, the majority iPhone 7.

All the while getting the next iPhone, presumably the iPhone 8, ready for release and what will likely be a huge success - far beyond previous iPhones.

And I'm genuinely curious... Why do you try to denigrate Tim Cook by calling him "Timmy," when that isn't his name. What is the reason? Are you trying marginalize him because you are jealous of his and Apple's success or just upset?

Big money is jumping into Apple for their cash reserve and no other reason. The markets see Apple as a cash cow now, not an innovator.

They will squeeze every penny of profit they can out of their customer base and run their reputation into the ground as a result.
This statement above shows ineptness how markets work. Having large cash reserves doesn't pay investors.

What pays investors is dividends (based of quarterly earnings) and appreciation in stock value.

So Apple needs to either make more money or appreciate stock value. Something Apple has been doing both of for years.

You need to innovate to make more revenue, something Apple has been doing every year no matter how much ear plugging you do. (Taptic Feedback, Touch-ID)

And by doing so, me - and millions of other people continue to buy their products - thus increasing their revenue. Make great products and everybody is happy.

I for one can't wait to see what iPhone 8 has in store, as well as their plans for AR.

Why?

Maybe because he's a falsely idolized supercapitalist boss that doesn't bring new products, knocked out creativity, killed innovation, and almost killed off the whole CPU division.
He is all about himself, his image, his ego, his $200k lunch appointments (where others may fund his gratitude)
Constantly busy with secondary subjects (the environment, (un-)equality, diversity) at cost of his principal tasks: leadership of an innovative product driven company.
That leadership sadly has followers of the wrong kind - all over the company. Designers that don't design. Product VP's that don't innovate and bring out refurb models. Engineers that don't develop new products. Logistics and manufacturing people that don't forecast. Software developers that have their creativity stalled and launch unstable OS releases. Etc. etc.
Rename Apple Computer => Apple => Apple Museum, bring out Ive's final iconic heritage collage.
And then start a new company.
No, just be quiet. I know it won't happen.
Because Thinking Different, with the Cookettes in place, means keeping everything the same.

I understand that people have an expensive headphone and are having problems with the removal of the headphone jack. But you' ll have to live with(out) it. Use the adapter, get lightning earphones, go wireless or get an android, etc. Screaming it here on the forums won' t solve it. It is gone....
It is not a law that an iphone should have a headphone jack, it is not the right of freedom of speech, etc. Move on.

My 6Plus seems to be a little more sluggish with the latest iOS upgrades, but not in any way that effects my everyday use. If I want performance and headphone sound I switch over to my Android, which I bought at the first of the year when Apple ditched the jack. I can also swap batteries on the 'droid. I prefer iOS, especially when integrating with my iMac and iPad, so if the next iPhone has a headphone jack (doubtful, I know), that will be my next phone. Otherwise, I'll keep the 6Plus until the battery dies (already replaced the original battery).

Well at least if he said that, out loud and on a conference call, then it means they know that people are waiting and expecting to be wowed. So they are aware of the expectations ... At least that's what i keep telling myself Lol
Please Apple don't let us down with a 7S and Touch ID on the back and all this other nonsense of launching in November ....

The 'few' who come to this board are waiting to be wowed. The general public, not so much. My wife never comes home and says, "Boy, I can't wait to be wowed by the next apple phone!" Instead, she says, "Wow, my battery is bad on this phone. I'm constantly having to plug it in."

Pretty silly for anyone who has an 6 or newer to upgrade now to a 7 with the 8 so close. If I had to do it over again I wouldn't have upgraded myself.

So the upgrade market is severally shrunk right now. I'm surprised the numbers were as good as they were. You have people who have even older phones, people who broke their phones and need something now, and switchers or first time phone buyers. Maybe even some who have a smaller 6 (or SE) and want a Plus, but even those I'd recommend to wait.

Many of us have indeed moved on over the courage issue and have purchased Androids this last year. I still think the iPad and especially the iMac (particularly if they make significant hardware upgrades and fix the cooling issues with the thin form factor) represent good investments. I simply have no interest in an iPhone crippled with no jack, and no current wireless technology to compete at a high level. I still like to visit MacRumors mainly due to the "Mac" part in the name.

But what is the problem with the adapter until you buy a next headset in a few years?

This is what happens when apple is far more focused on politics than actually innovating and making their product a better product. For example, iOS has more bugs than ever before. If you have been using iPhone since the first one came out, you will notice that the software just worked flawlessly on earlier versions of the iPhone. Today, we have hundreds of thousands of apps which 5%of them are truly useful and have a purpose. Siri is a mess, the hideous corrections that the text prediction tool makes and several other awful software flaws that come with every patch. Don't get me wrong, I am a very loyal Apple user but I about had it with it.
