Big money is jumping into Apple for their cash reserve and no other reason. The markets see Apple as a cash cow now, not an innovator.

They will squeeze every penny of profit they can out of their customer base and run their reputation into the ground as a result.

Exactly. This is what Wall Street does. This is why the past is littered with great companies that eventually fail. In tech start naming--Wang, Kodak, xerox, IBM, HP, and on and on.

Like it or not, this is the economic system we live under. Apple is just the latest company to get "Wall Streeted".

Dear Tim,

Can Apple please launch a new MacBook Pro ? Not just with a gimmicky Toolbar, but with real improvements - such as 32GB of RAM or even 64 ? And how about a 3 or 4 TB SSD storage that doesn't cost thousands extra ? My late 2013 16/1 was top of the line when I bought it and it still is. It's getting old and slow and can't process 4K video editing. Please, by 3Q 17 or sooner.

Thank You.

Yes please. I got a top of the line 2016 MBP 15", courtesy of my employer, and the first things I encountered out of the box were a RAM alert, 2-3h battery life, awful connectivity and the utter uselessness of the emojibar. :(

Frankly, as a computer addressed to "Pros", it's insulting.

But what is the problem with the adapter until you buy a next headset in a few years?

It decreases sound quality and gets misplaced quicker than you can say "hey Siri".

Perhaps you should update MacOS, seems to correct most issues.

It decreases sound quality? Never noticed that. If you can hear this differences, you should get an high end lightning headphone with a better dac, you should love that...

It does not magically install new RAM modules, usable ports or a denser battery cell. It simply removes the remaining battery timer.
No it fixes all kind of stuff, including battery life. You should read consumer reports about that.
Or you have a defect and you should swap

It's actually tried and tested that the lightning-to-3.5" has slightly poorer sound quality compared to the good ol' 3.5". My main qualm though is the inconvenience of having to carry that little **** around.

No thank you, I don't want or need a high end lightning headphone, I got a pretty awesome high end pair of earphones (which cost me a pretty penny couple years ago) that plugs to every possible device, except perhaps Apple's courageous phone.

The render is fine except for the ugly speaker hole. I'd much rather have the bezel extend down a bit to include it then have it hover on the screen.

It does NOT fix all kind of stuff. And indeed, the first 2016 MBP I received was a defect that kept coming up with kernel panic errors. That's my second. I made quite a fuss about giving me the 2015 MBP instead, but unfortunately it wasn't possible :(

It DOES fix quite a lot. Not experiencing any of these issues on our 2016 models. Something is wrong with yours.

I'm surprised as well as unsurprised. The rhetoric around here seems to be that only super fans talk about the next phone and anguish over waiting for it. But super fans generally are the early adopters. So what do we have? Are more people paying attention now? I haven't seen one lick of reporting on the upcoming phones outside of tech blogs, so while the info is out, I'm unsure how it's being disseminated to the masses.

There isn't much Apple could have done with the MacBook Pro in this case. Intel has been resting on their laurels for years so you won't see great improvement in performance....

That's fair, though--without diving too deep into the "Pro" criticisms of the MacBook Pro--they could have found other ways to compensate for the Intel side of things (more RAM and perhaps the OS integration to take advantage of it, larger battery over prioritizing size and weight, better graphics card, etc).

Yup that's exactly what it is Timmy boy... It has nothing to do with running out a 3 year old design for the first time in the phones history..... God forbid you were to use any of that 250 billion in reserve towards R&D for a new design you bean counting jacka$$

Apparently some people love getting ripped off lol, sure the new MBP is nothing but improvements (keyboard, magsafe, battery, ports, upgradeable, up to date hardware and probably the best one... the greatest touch bar featuring a very ergonomic touch screen which provides as much as 2 clicks for volume tweaks)

Needless to say, it's competitively priced for all the smart consumers out there. Coming up next on iOS 11, touch id + home tap + 2 confirmation tap phone unlock feature, snowden-proof.

"Apple sold 50.76 million iPhones in its fiscal second quarter ended April 1, down from 51.19 million a year earlier."

I'm far from being an Apple apologist, but these sales numbers are insane. 430,000 fewer iPhones over a 3 month period compared to the same period last year. There are quite a few warning signs of future trouble for Apple... this isn't one of them.

It's not the drop that's significant, it is the lack of growth. Apple stock is riding high not on its ability to continue to generate the sales and profit numbers it currently has, traders are banking on double-digit growth for the foreseeable future. Quarterly sales were predicted to be 52 million units which would have been a 1.5% increase. While the actual number may have only been a 430,000 drop from the previous year, expectations were missed by 1,250,000 which is pretty significant.

Apple has backed itself into a corner. Under Steve Jobs, over the course of only a decade they introduced the iPod, iTunes, iPhone, and iPad which were all huge successes in their respective areas. Apple's growth was stunning. Now Wall Street expects them to continue that rate of growth but it isn't going to happen in a mature market like smartphones and tablets. Under Tim Cook the only new product is the Apple Watch which is a niche product. It is selling well for a wearable, but it is not selling anywhere near enough to be a driver of earnings growth.

Apple stock is priced based on the most exuberant assumptions and any negative news is going to have analysts scrambling to justify their price predictions. One quarter won't hurt, but if Apple doesn't see comparative quarter growth of the iPhone 8 of at least 5 million over the iPhone 7 then Apple will almost certainly have plateaued. It will inevitably happen, the only question is when.

thank you - easily explained by the 1.2 million units withdrawn from inventory - related to the pause - I am in the same camp - I can easily afford to upgrade but losing the head jack for me will require a more substantial upgrade.

Absolutely. There is definitely a difference in removing it from an otherwise unchanging product, and building a whole new product without it (one that would justify the decision).

You know, what has become way more annoying than the negative critiques of Apple's moves and performance over the past few years ...

... is the number of cliche artists who mock that criticism by making sarcastic 'Apple is doomed' posts.
Like this one too. Folks who say Apple is doom then immediately comes someone else they are tired of folks saying that then the next peeps saying they find it annoying if that one too. It's all opinion. Theirs and mines are all opinion. Are you God?

My contract for my iPhone has expired already, but I'm hoping to hold out until the new iPhones this Fall. My iPhone 6 is decent enough, but does randomly restart or crash when listening to music enough to be annoying.

I predicted that when the US carriers ditched 2 year contracts you would see people stretch upgrade cycles out, and I do think that is playing a part. Iphone 6 was the first iphone cycle where most bought their phones outright with installment plans. For example, for a family of 4 who may have been paying $25 a month per phone, when those phones were paid off, their wireless bill dropped $100. That's huge to most people, and when they see that they feel less motivated to upgrade as long as their current device does what they need it to do. For every one of us that wants to always upgrade, there are plenty of people who keep their phones until they are no longer usable.

iPads haven't improved in 3+ years, iPhones haven't improved much since the 6/6+, the MBPr is essentially the same as it was in 2012, iMac? Gets worse on each refresh. Mac mini hasn't seen a refresh in 3 years same as the Mac Pro. What are these engineers doing?
I got the ipad pro 12.9 a year and few months ago. It was a vast improvement. It was the first ipad after purchasing 4 ipads that I bought new, not used on craigslist.

Buying phones for a family of 3 is too expensive. Dipping my foot into the world of smartphones, I bought 2 used iphone SEs for $300 each and was given a free 5s. Handy as you can get cheap cases and all the same screen protectors. To me $600 is a lot. Then $35 a month for verizon unlimited adds up.

And to think, 10 years ago we only had desktops. Today each of us have either a laptop or desktop, plus an ipad AND iphone. Yikes. When I first saw Jobs saying everyone in the house would have their own ipad I laughed. Now I just think he was an evil genius.

So let me get this straight. Samsung sells a total of 50 million Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge for the entire year of 2016 and everyone is calling it amazing, record breaking etc.. And they sell 7.2 million of S7 and S7 Edge for Q1 2017 and people keep calling it impressive.

Apple sells 50 million iPhone's in Q1 2017 alone, and people starts complaining about poor sales? What planet are we living on when selling these ridiculous amounts of high cost phones is considered disappointing? Apple is completely demolishing the sales of other phones in the same price range out of the water and yet people complain? Like really?
Are you comparing 2 of several samsung phones (don't the have a note line?) to the entire apple iphone line? Is that fair?

I bought a 7 despite the headphone jack. I'm on my third adaptor. I would trade in my 7 if they brought back the jack with the 8.
