I do think the iPhones look great! I've already asked my vendor te reserve an iPhone 6 64GB for me as soon as it hits the market.

But i'm a bit dissapointed about some of the features
- It's not waterproof >This should be a standard in this premium class phones
- The camera... It irritates me!

Not the pixels, but why did they design the camera the day that Jony Ives was sick? That's not a design from a company who spents millions on the packaging of their products and is obsessive about how iPads and MacBooks are positioned in their stores. Cut the crap en just admit the flaw in design.

My iPhone 4 doesn't hold on much longer and doesn't support iOS8, else I would have waited for the 6S.

Why does nobody have the nerve to ask Tim or Jony what the lack of some expected features or design is about?

One thing Apple does really great: Apple Pay. Not just add another NFC chip in your phone and wait and see...but proactivly make agreements with the financial industry and create another win-win situation.

Preorder and Shipping

Does anyone know if preorders on the 12th will arrive on day one or if they just ship from Apples warehouse on day one? I assumed it meant that it was going to be on my doorstep on the 19th but after rewatching the keynote they say they will begin shipping on the 19th so I was starting to think that this meant that all the people who preorder are going to have them delivered after that date.

Samsung will just roll over and play dead? Not a chance. As long as your bringing up obsolete hardware isn't it sort of funny that the iPhone 6 is still stuck at 1 GB of RAM? That's just one example. We'll see how this all turns out.

The iPhone 6 will sell very well, but I expect the competition isn't going to stop. At least you should hope it doesn't because without strong products from Samsung, LG, HTC, Moto, etc. Apple would have little motivation to keep improving their product.

I wouldn't consider the iPhone 6 "stuck" at 1GB of RAM. It has 1GB of RAM because that's how they designed it. I'm sure that Apple would have put more RAM in it IF it needed it. It cracks me up how some people are hung up on the specs for the wrong reasons. It's like, yeah, Apple is going to spend millions of dollars designing two new phones, changing their manufacturing to fit the new designs and then not put enough RAM into the phone so it works properly. LOL! Really?

That webcast did suck. I had to stop watching it after a while and didn't even hear about the Watch until I got home around mid evening.

On the other hand, everyone says the same thing every iPhone update.

This isn't what I wanted,
I hear Android _________ is smoother and more responsive,
I may switch to that,
I hear Windows is nice.

It's fine, I have my fair share of Windows Tablets and Android devices. Just that Android has ALWAYS been stable, just as stable as iOS IMHO. Both OSs lag and have issues.

Windows is nice, but I've found my experience better when I go the total ecosystem route. I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro and switch most of my software over to Windows based stuff and ran Windows 8 via Parallels. Considered getting a Windows laptop and stopped only because I desperately need TBolt, and the Windows system implementations don't do video and data.

The transition is easy since most of the apps that are worthy of being downloaded are cross platform.

Just wanted to point out that every user says this every year.

Granted but this time it's a culmination of things, for me anyway. I actually like the phone itself, don't see a lot wrong with the 5S personally apart from a bit small on the screen front. Wouldn't consider the Plus myself, it's a monster.

- Watch looks pretty pointless, even the presenters didn't seem to know what to do with it
- Drip fed iPad upgrades are getting annoying and iOS on the iPad is really lacking now if you're going to use it for anything productive (split screen multitasking, pen input are 2 examples)
- Apple TV / Airport express. I've already moved my videos/music to Plex/Sonos respectively because I was bored of waiting for a proper home medial solution and now the AppleTV itself is in the firing line - it really only gets used for Airplay these days - I've literally no idea why they're taking so long to get the App store going on it, they'd make a killing and crush the opposition overnight. Amazon's alternative is lined up to replace it at the moment.

I'm with you on the sticking to an ecosystem too .. the Windows phone/Surface Pro combo is looking really appealing at the moment, just a few features/OSX exclusive bits that are holding me back really.

It’s a pretty safe bet that the first batch of preorders will arrive on the 19th. At least that’s what they managed the last few years: show product on a Tuesday, start preorder Friday, deliver the next Friday.

I think with "shipping" in this context they actually meant the last stage of the shipping process meaning delivering at the doorstep.

Uhhh, this is possible right now....PhotoStreams and iCloud....

I suppose on the video side, it all depends where you put the video....there also isn't an iTunes Match for movies/TV Shows at this point, but that's on TV negotiations rather than technology.

No, Apple's current tech lets you upload stuff and then redownload it. I don't want that. I want these devices to create links to each other so if my iPad is nearby, that it can connect and they can both share and blend their respective media libraries. But also with computers too. So when I'm at home I don't have to worry about syncing content to my iPad, it exists already on the computer in the next room.

But photos DO do that.....you don't have to download anything, the photostream just shows all the photos across all your photo libraries. It IS a blend of your photo libraries.

And if you're home, Home Sharing allows you to stream content thats in iTunes on your home computer to your AppleTV, phone, or tablet.

I'm sorry if I'm not understanding....

No not that. Anyone who knows anything about design and its principles can see that the iphone 6 backside is just plain ugly. There's nothing visually appealing about the antenna lines and the protruding camera lens. If Jobs is still around this design would've never been approved. But then again it's now Tim Cook's apple, not Steve Jobs. What apple was known for is slowly starting to decay. Oh and just to be clear, I can afford an upgrade. I'm a designer and I know the difference between visual harmony and visual cluster****.

LOL....Wow!

There's literally nothing revolutionary about anything we saw, nothing really exciting. The sales numbers will be huge but that's not because these are the best Apple products ever, it's because Apple is still cool for many people and they want the latest Apple products, many are tied to the eco system so will probably just get the standard like-for-like upgrade from their iPhone 5's etc etc. You won't be proving anyone wrong when Apple sets sales records, it's expected, but that doesn't mean these are the most amazing products the world has ever seen.

Apple are making small steps backward in innovation and design rather than being well ahead of the pack - the current Android phone/phablet offerings are not a million miles from these brand new Apple ones where in the past they'd have been watching the keynote with fear and nervousness, struggling to keep up for a year or so - all this launch has done is likely spark complacency for the entire industry.

You know what? I'll probably get the iPhone 6 anyway because I'm due my upgrade from my 5 and I'm in the eco system, it's not quite bad enough to make me switch. Sad really isn't it.

I completely agree. And no matter what people say, these are well-phrased comments. Like many others, I am tied in to the Apple eco system (for OS X mostly because it provides a great interface to Linux machines & X11). I also want to like the new iPhone. But these two models are simply not that far ahead of the best Android phones. In my opinion, progress has leveled off to the point that there is no pressing need to upgrade. And yes, greatly improved battery life would have been much, much more important to me than a bigger phone (which, if anything, won't fit as conveniently in my pocket).

There will be an event in October - iPads, Macs and AppleTV.

I think you'll see a lot of what you're asking for next month.....iOS 8.1 will come with Apple Pay AND split screen multitasking for iPads and the 6+ IMO.

I'm with Tim on this the 6 plus will trigger the mother of all upgrades

amongst those of us who'll never need to buy an iPhone and an ipad mini ever again :D ..oops maybe that's not quite what he meant

While I do wish there was more RAM, my current iPhone 5 doesn't even seem to be struggling. I do believe there are enough improvements from my iPhone 5 to move up to iPhone 6. I do keep in mind that these phones are used for essentially 2 years and they are continually always improving.

Looking at my 5s, there's almost no reason to upgrade.

There really isn't. But apple will give you a reason to. Just don't upgrade once ios 9 arrives. I learned the hard way, and that's how they get you to think that your phone is obsolete.

Yeah, you're not understanding :)
Photostream sends the data on Apple's servers (Where you have a storage limit and size limit) and the photos are redownloaded to all devices.
What I want is completely local.
If I'm connected to the same network or within range of my multiple devices, they connect and share their media as if the content is already on the device. No uploading to Apple, no online storage limits.

Say I was deep underground in a cave. My iPhone is full of video files but I want to watch them on my iPad. With this kind of system I'd be able to watch those iPhone videos as if they were on my iPad.

I know there are apps (like VLC) that does this, but that's tied to video only. I want that functionality natively with all my media.

So it seems like the only issue you would have with the current way is that it takes up additional space?

So you'd want the devices to create their own ad-hoc network, ala AirDrop to stream content to and from?

Ahem, I’m a designer myself (with more than twenty years of – no bragging intended – quite successful professional experience on my back). In my opinion the exterior design of the 6/6plus in many respects is way better than that of the 5/5s. What now, shall we call it par?

Anyway, to me that doesn't really matter. My new iPhone will most likely live in a case from day one. Since the 5 iPhones have become too thin/light/slippery to be comfortably handled without a case, for me at least.
This will probably be the case (pun intended) with the 6 as well.

On a side note: The most beautiful iPhone to date is the 4/4s imho.

Posts like these are funny because the posters never get the irony and then get upset when its pointed out. You're telling these fanboys that they're wrong and you're right.

Pray tell what's the difference between you and them?

I just don't like all the arguments between fanboys in general, that's all, TBH.

I just wish people could learn to like all devices or consoles or PC's; regardless of OS or manufacturer, especially the ones who are of the evangelical type for both major mobile phone Operating Systems.

I can understand where you're coming from, but at the end of the day, it's just my opinion and I thank you for being honest. (And FYI, I'm not upset at you at all! ^_^)
