They don't break down sales to individual models, "but trust us... X topped the charts EVERY week (gleaming ping from Tim's tooth)!". Yeah frickin' right.
If only non-Apple companies could get away w/ such blatant secrecy, partial lies & spin. This company's arrogance & contempt for its users is sickening, to me.
A $101 jump in ASP pretty much has to be attributed to iPhone X sales since the "Plus Effect" was already accounted for between the earlier generations so it is very, very unlikely that suddenly everyone wanted only the 8 Plus instead of the 8.
Why in the world would Apple do such a dumb thing? What other companies do that?
Doesn't the most recent model usually outsell older models that are still for sale?
Shouldn't this be expected being that it is the newer device?
Not necessarily. It could be that more people are buying non-base model 8/8 plus iPhones.
Yes, I agree, but, no where in the quote does it say that the X has sold more than the 8.
But WSJ and Nikkei said Apple was slashing orders 50%.
Nor did he say it sold more than the SE, the 6s, the 6s Plus, the 7 nor the 7 Plus. He didn't have to because his statement that the "iPhone X is the best selling phone since November" includes all those models by default.
Just as expected. iPhone X customer satisfaction is off the charts. You’d have to pry my iPhone X out of my cold dead hands. I could not go back to a Home button iPhone with head and chin. The gesture based UI is so incredibly fluid and intuitive and Face ID is miles ahead of Touch ID in convenience and accuracy. You can only experience this if you live with an iPhone X day in and day out.
Now, about that game of broken telephone where they were going to discontinue the iPhone X for lack of demand...
So yeah, we've confirmed the Nikkei news was fake yet again.
ASP of $800 means iPhone X was crazy good. The expectation was $750. Blow out for iPhone X.
The only disappointing thing seems to be overall unit sales, which perhaps was due to a lot of people waiting for the iPhone X. iPhone X was only selling 8 weeks in December, so I believe the next launch will be much stronger
Mister Cook, during Cyber Monday, I bought a few echo dots. Less then 39,- each.
For 39, I don't get the HomePod. I Just get the extended warranty for the HomePod.
Apple has failed. Apple keeps falling. Hear our warning calls. Start developing decent products for decent prices.
Those people who aren’t don’t come here and bash it. There is a very specific reason Apple released 3 new phones this year at different price points.Never doubted that the X was the top selling iPhone for Apple. I still don’t believe it’s worth the buy, but never had a doubt about its appeal to many others.
There are those who chose not to go with the X AND actually aren’t looking for Apple to fail.
Why it has to be so black and white around here is beyond me.
Yup, I love my SE!Those people who aren’t don’t come here and bash it. There is a very specific reason Apple released 3 new phones this year at different price points.

But..wait...that would make all the hate stories this week completely bogus, claiming Apple was cutting production on X because of slow sales and people were picking the 8 insteadEveryone knows that the X is more popular than the 8. No news there. "Top Selling" means just that. More Xs sold than 8, or 7 series. Yawn
I dunno... The almost 600,000 people who open their wallets everyday to purchase an iPhone would likely disagree with your assessment.
But, it doesn't mean it outsold the 8, which is my point.. The quote says that it is the top seller since November.
Oh for gods sake. These rumors weren’t talking about the change quarter over quarter. Everybody knows The March quarter is always way down from the December (holiday) quarter. These rumors specifically said Apple planned for 40M X units and halved them to 20M. But last year total iPhone sales were only 50M. Nobody thinks X would be 90% of sales. They have for Q2. The “Gotta Have It” period has ended. Hence Q2 quidance reduced to $62 Billion, from Q1’s $87 Billion. Q2, 3, and 4 of 2018 will be far more representative of the iPhones stamina. 2018 will be the most critical period since SJ passed. They must be able to sustain their margins and revenue with continued services growth, and continued Mac growth. It’s foolish to take Q1 as anything representative of Fiscal 2018 if you look outward and do your research.![]()
Go back to my original quote, I was saying that many posts on this thread and others are mis-quoting Tim Cook, saying that Apple has sold iPhone X than iPhone 8.Okay, but the 8 has not yet outsold the 7 because it's been on sale less time, too. Neither has any relevance to the statement Tim Cook made and this thread is about - that the X has outsold the 8 on a weekly basis since both families have available.
