Go back to my original quote, I was saying that many posts on this thread and others are mis-quoting Tim Cook, saying that Apple has sold iPhone X than iPhone 8.

Yes it is possible that the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus together outsell the iPhone X on a weekly basis.

However, Tim's comment is clearly referring to individual model sales and not combined family sales. So Apple sells more iPhone X's per week then they sell iPhone 8's and they sell more iPhone X's per week then they sell iPhone 8 Plus' even if the total number of sales of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus combined could be more than the total number of sales of iPhone X.

That the ASP rose so sharply also shows that the iPhone X is selling better than any other individual iPhone model on a weekly basis and implies that even on a cumulative basis, the iPhone X is a very strong seller vis-a-vis the other iPhone families (6s / 7 / 8).

I mean, it's the newest iPhone. Of course it's going to be the best-selling of the available iPhone's. When is the last time a new iPhone wasn't the best selling iPhone model the firstthree months post release?
When previously did Apple release 3 new models at once? And one model that started at $999? For two weeks it’s nothing but stories and rumors that the X is doomed. Then when Cook says it’s Apple’s best selling model we get well of course why wouldn’t it be nothing to see here no big deal move along.

Most will not have opened their wallet, more of signed contract for future bite sized wallet expenditures.

Well...To start the process and make that first monthly payment, something's being pulled out of your opened wallet; either cash or a credit card. And accompanied with a signed commitment that amounts to at least the price of the phone.

Almost 600,000 times a day, every day of the year (on the average).

Everyone knows that the X is more popular than the 8. No news there. "Top Selling" means just that. More Xs sold than 8, or 7 series. Yawn

But it's probably not true! Other sites are saying the exact opposite, even that the 7 is outselling the 8 and X! LOL

Remember the talk of iPhone X shortages? Timmy could only dream that now! :D

Regardless, it's probably a mix of both reports. One thing we know is that iPhone X didn't meet sales expectations, nor did 8, since production of both at different times has been slowed, particularly with the iPhone X in half! That symbolizes a product FAILURE, not a sales success.

And the stock price shows it. :D

yea and 34% +33% +33% equals 100%, lets say X is 34, 8 is 33 and 8+ is 33. sure he's telling the truth, the x is highest selling. lol

but in above example, the 8/8+ combined would be crushing the X

there is really no idea how the X is doing compared to others when 8 different iphone devices are currently sold.

Lmao damned if and damned if not. Apple just can’t win.

It’s sad that so many people doubt Apple and “hate the company so much”.

It's the best selling iPhone, okay. That doesn't tell us the forecast vs sold devices. Frankly, I don't really care and I'm just making a point. It's going to be a successful device and the 'Apple is doomed" mentality is hyperbole.

But this statement from Tim Cook that "iPhone X was our best selling device" doesn't really validate how successful the phone is vs their forecast for it. I work for the worlds #1 playground manufacturer, and while it's of course a completely different industry, when we don't hit our forecasted numbers we still manage to put a positive spin on the earnings reports. It's just the nature of business.

Kind of a petty then the iPhone X would be short lived due to cannibalizing.

To get an "off the charts" Apple is more than just "wealthy", then a big shot in the arm...

One thing that has not been reported is that iPhone 7 USED sales and prices have gone up.
How do I know? Because many are out of stock and the prices keep rising.

And NOW TODAY, Apple announces its getting into the iPhone 7 Refurbished biz at Glyde and Gazelle prices. Coincidence?

I think not! :D

I feel like this is some people's reaction to this news:

They don't break down sales to individual models, "but trust us... X topped the charts EVERY week (gleaming ping from Tim's tooth)!". Yeah frickin' right.

If only non-Apple companies could get away w/ such blatant secrecy, partial lies & spin. This company's arrogance & contempt for its users is sickening, to me.
Wait? Actually reporting iPhone sales and not claiming that you Presold 10 million phones but really on 3 ended up going to Customers like Samsung did a couple of years back is a bad thing? Making a device that actually has tech 3 years ahead of the competition and selling it for more than phones that don’t have it is bad? Google’s Pixel with 128 Gig is 949 $50 less that the IPhone X and the entry level is only 100 less. This phone does not even have wireless charging that is standard on all the new IPhones. Not to mention Face ID

The Pixel 2 also doesn't shoot 4K at 60 FPS.

What exactly does Tim's statement mean? That they sell more iPhone X's each week vs other iPhone models Apple is currently selling? Or that it's the highest selling iPhone ever?

Guy with 8 girlfriends to his newest girlfriend, "Yes, I kiss those other 7 girls, but I kiss you... more than I kiss any other... individual girlfriend."

The entry 64GB Pixel 2 XL is $849, so $150 less. I got mine for $75 off on the Google Store during December, so I paid $215 less.

Also, consumers were not asking for Face ID. Right or wrong, Apple did what they thought they needed to do and slapped a premium price tag on it.

X also has 316L SS band, glass, sapphire lenses. Top end design. Add in top notch processor. Add in top notch display. Add in top end camera (ties with Pixel in camera, beats it in video, and far more flexible with zoom lens).

Compare above to Pixel 2 XL. sorry, $150 price addition to get X is a damn bargain!

And the best calibrated OLED screen of any smartphone on the market.

Did the iPhone 7 start at $999? And were there two other new phones released along side of it?
Which other two phones? I know about the 7 and the 7 plus. Was there another one? Also, which one of them had a considerable amount of tech and more expensive screen and form factor?

Bingo!

As a stock holder and a lover of Apple gadgets, I could not be happier. Apple makes great products, provides the best customer service in the industry and makes money for it's stock holders. Win/Win/Win/Win - the doom and gloom from the posters on this forum make me laugh.

Stainless steel band that scratches like crazy, while the black finish flakes.
Rear glass that makes the device further fragile.
Display is best in class yes.
Sapphire lenses, eh. Average consumer has no clue about that, nor would they miss it.
Pixel 2 is the best camera, iPhone X does not 'tie' it.
I'll give you video quality and zoom lens.

I had a Pixel 2 and I can safely say I much prefer the pictures and video my X takes than my Pixel did. As for your comments about scratching, flaking, and fragility ... I've experienced none of that. The Pixel 2 had a lot more noise in the images ... and although the Visual Core update in Android 8.1 helped reduce the noise, it's still noticeably more than the X. Having said that, the Pixel 2 is a wonderful phone, but I ultimately chose to go with the X.

Everybody's different, and photography/videography is very much subjective, but the majority would give the edge to the Pixel 2 on still image photography. Google has done a phenomenal job with software image processing. As for the other things, they are very well documented around this forum and other sites. If you have case, sure, your phone probably won't have those problems. If you don't have a case and still don't experience those things, than you're lucky. :D

The reality is, there are those who want the iPhone X to fail because of their own disapproval for the notch, price point, etc. But I think iPhone X given its wide availability had a strong start and has a bright future with Face ID. Even with iPhone X being a top-selling iPhone, you will still have those who will claim it's a failure.

It’s the top selling phone. Period.
