Actually they have the authority to but are not required to' they also have the right to promote the general welfare per the Constitution.

Providing a product isn't promoting the general welfare. There is a distinction between health insurance and actual health care.

Nonetheless Congress has broad powers to legislate for the general welfare and gets to decide what it means' as long as they don't violate specific restrictions on their power.

Clearly, since they've forced us to buy a product or suffer punitive damages.

Yes.

At the time, it was a choice between bad, and worse.

For every bad thing that was said about Donald Trump prior to 11/8/16, there is an equal, or worse thing that can be said about Secretary Clinton.

That's simply not true. Clinton had a trackrecord of politial knowledge. She's not my favorite candidate but that is irrelevant since I can't vote in America, but at least she had a very good track record concerning political know-how.

Trump on the other hand is amazing in being a clueless void of meaningless.

Take a look at this interview:
The men doesn't have a clue on what he's talking about, and with no clue I mean literally no clue.

This is not about who you "like" more but about who's capable of being pesident of the VS. Next to his mentally ilness of Trump, the men has no clue concerning politcis. Now you might state that this is a good thing, that some drastic change should come. But with a mentality disturbed person in charge? Give me a break.
Someone who stated that he was in favour of the war in Iraq then denies he stated that as such even tough it's been recorded? Someone who defies the fact that way more people attended Obama's inauguration when compared to his own inauguration? Who's not only denies these given facts but comes with 'alternative facts' which are also no facts....

The guy is a joke and an emberashement for the world. He is allready the most unpopular president within the EU, everyone, quite understandable, is making fun of him. Including comedians in Holland. And can you blame people for making fun of him? He's a joke.

He is. Read the imigration laws. People have posted them all over this thread. The only thing he did wrong was a procedural question regarding already approved Visas. It's well within his authority to block immigrantion from these failed States.

This order is also in violation of the Geneva Convention.

Again, it's amazing how the idea of wanting to live in an inclusive society where people's basic needs are taken care of is considered a "mental disorder" in the US.

I can walk down my street and see restaurants serving food from dozens of countries. To Trump voters, Taco Bell is the most "ethnic" food available in their town.
Funny, Mrs. Eldiablojoe is an ethnic minority. She is also an avid Trump supporter, as is her father and two sisters. They are all East L.A. born and raised, and somehow have more exposure to ethnic foods of all kinds (Lot of Mexicans, Chinese and Viets in that part of the world also) than many liberals. So, your point? Y que?

Sounds like you're recommending Tim Cook turn his back on affected Apple employees in the US and should oblige and roll over at trump's behest. Imagine the message that would send throughout Apple and other companies in the valley here.

Fortunately, Cook's a stand-up guy and has their back, sending the right message to the rest of Apple's employees and the government. Tip-o-my-hat to Tim Cook for doing the right thing, caring for his employees, and leading by example.

Wonder if the CEOs of google, IBM, Dell, Samsung, Oracle, Tesla, HP, Phillips, eBay, Adobe, AMD, Altera, SanDisk, Cisco, Nvidia, Facebook, Twitter, Intel, and many other companies here in silicon valley have their immigrant employees' backs?

Let me put it this way, I'm an immigrant, was really not easy for my mother and me. This letter from Cook means NOTHING! When apple helps out or assists these people , let's talk.

These millionaires say a lot, do nothing , common people act and take you in. That is my experience .

Most of my Aussie mates were kicked out of UK, with no option to comeback and work.... being an immigrant is not easy.....

When ***** hits the face, apple or any other company will drop you fast, happened to many of my Aussie mates in the U.K......it was goodbye , and they also got supportive letters. At the end you are just a resource , they are willing to spend x amount, and CooK is one of the worst when it comes to being a Scrooge

Happy to see an email from cook about product vision or roadmap.

Boy, you are an emotional wreck. Time to put on your big boy pants and grow up.
"Emotional Wreck" aren't the words I'd use to describe my feelings. I'd say I'm very afraid of loosing my rights with this hate filled regime. This is a rather scary time for those of us not white, male, Christian, heterosexual... so you can take your glib, arrogant superlative's and ignore the rest of us who will suffer. Isn't that the arrogant Republican way?

Yet, he won.

However, you should have insisted that we, in the US, added a star to the flag, let you send 2 Senators and proportional representation to the US Congress when you ratified the US Constitution. While I respect your opinion as a person, the EU has no say, whatsoever, in the outcome of the US Election. It's kind of like the critics of Scientology debating whether a movie internal to their church is panned by those outside of it.

Since you started it,
Mrs. Clinton lied, and continues to lie about her cough. First it was allergies, dry throat, Donald Trump (probably said as a joke, but the question was never answered), then walking pneumonia/the flu after she was caught stumbling into a van on 9/11/16. It is indicative of her "congenital liar" problem.

What's the big deal about this? If it was walking pneumonia, or any of those other lies, she had it for close to a year. She really should see a doctor once in a while, and just tell the %^&$%$ truth.

Speaking of lies on her part, remember the "vast right wing conspiracy" that sent a 22 year old intern into her husband's office, showed off her girly parts, then "smoked his cigar" in more than one orifice? Yeah, that one that also set up and led the "bimbo eruption" team when her husband had women that he allegedly raped, fondled, and came on to in his official duties, and performed character assassinations on them. Intentionally dragging people down through lies and misinformation is the practical act of lying.

Like I said, bad, and worse. You really won't get me going all ga-ga about President Trump, nor defending him. My guy lost 6 months prior to the election, either through (then) Mr. Trump's cute little nicknames or Hillary's collusion with the "free" (for her) press.

I'm not commenting on the issue, but how likely is it that Mr. Cook didn't know this would become public? I'm sure he composed it in such a way because he expected it to do so.

so just because something might become public means you shouldn't do something at all? keep in mind he said "There are employees at Apple who are directly affected by yesterday's immigration order." so he felt the need to say something.

Its funny.. most here say "hey its not all black and white idiot...."... yet when it comes to their perspectives... Its black and white.

Democaracy is good only if ones perspectives wins... if the opposition wins ...something is awfuly wrong... .....or will painted to be wrong.....

Its politics.. its dirty, its disgusting and it is what it is........ it has always been.

Power... ahhh such nasty concept... right?... ;)

The most worrisome issue , to me , is the devide in this country.

I didn't state whether I thought he should've or shouldn't have made a private or public statement. The post I quoted asserted that his statement was meant for his employees, not for public consumption. I disagree with that assessment. I think it was meant for both.

This is bigger than just Apple. They will adjust and go on. Trump did the right thing, and I applaud him for it. Why is Mr. Cook not hiring Americans to work the jobs here anyway? Either way, Mr. Cook needs to stay away from things that are political... Or at least keep the info behind closed doors, because people like me hear this crap from him, and have no problem switching our allegiance.

What makes it ok for one businessman to speak up and not another?

Because it's hurting Apple's employees.
Apple is not the only tech company to be hurt by this.

Maybe, but it looks like they may be the only ones whining about it, and getting political. He must be careful as it isn't like we must buy from Apple.

I don't understand your question since I thought we were talking about Mr. Cook's letter specifically? If there are other people whining like Mr. Cook please let me know as I take this type of thing into account when supporting a company. I admit I didn't read all the posts :)
