The question is: Why does anyone buy an Iphone 8 Plus knowing that in a few months he can have the best phone for not much more? I don't understand that...

Because it’s almost 50% more. 50% of $699 is about $350. $699+$350=$1049.

Some of us kept what we had anyway. Don’t like the X and the 8 doesn’t do anything special to us over what we have today.

Good reason, the new Civics are overdone style wise and look like spaceships.
They’re awful. Mine has Bluetooth which is good enough for me. I don’t need any other bells and whistles.

This guy has put Apple from leader of the industry to "Lets watch what everyone else does first" Then copy it but make it slightly better. Everyone iPhone since the 6s should have been oled by now.

Cook had a few minutes to speak with CNBC, and he said that he's "thrilled" with what he's seeing on launch day. Some stores have sold out of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus he says, and many locations are out of the LTE Apple Watch Series 3 models.

There we go - equating success with selling out of stock on Day 1, due to a presumably deliberate undersupply. However, on this occasion, his fellow beancounters did not in most cases appreciate just how low the demand would be. I would say success in some measure could be seen as putting sufficient stock in stores to supply customers at launch, but not the modern-day Apple management.

If you get the 8 or 8+ you are an idiot for not waiting for the X.
If you get the X you are an idiot for not getting the 8 or 8+.

That's smart thinking. If Honda sold the exact same car four years straight why pay more than you have to? Applying this logic to iPhone the smart choice, except for the 6 which is a lemon, is the 6S since it's basically the same as 7 and 8 but for less money.
Maybe you didn’t hear me right. I didn’t get a new Civic because I don’t like the current design. The 2012 design was nicer IMO. To me a smart phone is like a TV. Who complains that TVs are boring because they’re not re-designed every year? Outside of removing bezels or adding gimmicks how much can you really change the design of a smartphone?

Can anyone take this guy seriously? It’s not as if he was going to stand there and say anything else but “thrilled”, “best”, “incredible response”...

I see your point. But you have to ask yourself, what else would expect the CEO of Apple to say on launch day of a new iPhone release? Of course he is not going to say "The iPhone 8 is lack luster in sales and Hopefully it rebounds." I mean, Cook wants to instill positivity for this launch and be optimistic. I can't blame him for his positivity. But numbers will eventually show results later on.

Some people need a new phone now, don't want to pay $2-400 more, hate the Notch, don't like FaceID etc. Plus, who knows when the X will even be in stock? Apple was clearly nervous about getting it to market (problems with getting touchID under screen to work for example) and meeting demand. I think they threw out the 8/8+ as a last resort honestly.

Side by side, compare your 6 to an 8. As an iPhone user yourself I’m disappointed you haven’t realised that it’s not about tech specs. On paper there’s virtually no difference but in the real world there’s no comparison.

I’m a 6S user and I plan on getting an 8.

A 10 if I’m feeling rich lol
Sorry, I still don't get it. What's to compare? Both 6 and 8 do exactly the same thing (with the exception of augmented reality). iOS 10.3.3 on iphone 6 is as snappy as iOS 11 on iphone 8. The screen size is the same, both have fingerpring sensors... So what's the benefit of upgrading?

My issue is I don't want a phone the size of the plus but I'd at least like the camera and features of the plus. I'd actually consider the 8 over the X if it at least had the same camera setup as the 8 plus. I've tried my hand at a phablet sized phone with the 6p and did not enjoy carrying it around in my pocket.

The X makes more sense for me from a size and camera perspective that and well I'd like an OLED display. Apple dropped the ball on that one in with the 8 as well.

The only reason I preordered the 8 Plus was solely for the camera. Once I held one in the store I realized I wouldn’t like it. The 8 does take better pictures than my 7.

As of now, it’s not about what it does but about how it does it.

On paper the 6 is the same as the 6S which is the same as the 7 which is the same as the 8.

Except it’s not.

Of course he’s thrilled, it means the X is going to sell like hot cakes which makes them more £££

How is it doing it differently than a 6s running iOS 11? My point being that most people using any of these devices care about the results, not about the process the phone uses.

Timmy is thrilled that only 2 people show up in China to buy his "Best Phone Ever".

I've read the story and it's just what went through my mind when the iPhone 8 and 8 plus got introduced. Its too expensive with nothing special except the Apple logo compared to the competition. No excuse for Apple this time. Here in the netherlands I can get an galaxy S8 for € 35,- a month with unlimited data and calls for whole Europe by vodaphone. The iPhone 8 (not the 8 plus) with the same optioneel comes in at € 45,- a month. Even the older iPhone 7 is still more expensive than the Galaxy S 8 at € 37,50 a month.

This is just an example. There are lot's of very good Chinese alternatives even cheaper.

But as Tim Cook always said... Apple's goal was never in selling the most, but selling the best. Both statements are lies, lol

When oh when will Tim wake up and get that triangle shaped phone out? Or the circular one? None of the other manufacturers are using same design? Rumor has it that Samsung will even have a diamond shaped one out next year. Rectangular is so 2007. Why is Apple always so far behind?

Psst.

Nokia already did a cylindrical phone (lipstick) and a Triangular-like-prism phone back in the day. ;)

I'd rather not see Tim or Craig use that Triangle hand-gesture not unlike the TV Show "V" (Original) and V (2009).

Do you mean iphone 8 is noticeably faster that 6? I'm just having trouble accepting this because iphone 6 has zero stutter in ios 10.3.3, and since animation rates are fixed, a faster gpu makes zero difference. I haven't tried ios 11 with iphone 6, so maybe that's what you're referring to. But then there is really no valid reason to upgrade to ios 11 on the phone unless you are into augmented reality.

You know how Wall Street will takes this. If it didn’t sell out within seconds, lines several blocks long weren’t observed, or people weren’t beating the **** out of each other to get one, then it was a catastrophic failure.

Why do you care what "wall street" thinks.
